- So I used to play this game all the time on the Playstation Demo disk, it was such a unique game for the console. Although simple in design the controlls were really difficult for me back then (and admitedly now...). The game itself is rather short, you can play through Broze, Silver and Gold modes with two songs in each. The real magic of this game though is in the own CD mode which will allow you to put your own disks into the console and play along to the music, so the levels are only limited by your music collection!
In this video I play through all three game modes and then play a special extra song at the end. Hope you enjoy it!

I remember I was reading an interview of the guy who made this game, this was basically his first game he made, not to mention he never ever played a videogame himself in his youth, as he was more of a music person. Don't know if he is still in the industry or continued with music nowadays

Really? That explains a lot, actually. All the NanaOn-sha games have really solid music, concepts, appeal, all of it, but they lack basic game design usually, Parappa has a fuckton of hidden bullshit mechanics that are never explained to the player
The first game was actually Parappa the Rapper then the spin off, and then Vib-Ribbon. It's the same guys.

they way they designed this game is genious, the animations and graphics are masterpieces the way they designed them... And its incredible how they fit the ENTIRE game in the ps1's ram so you can load music discs... Incredible
the graphics were similar to vector graphics so they could save memory to fit it on the PS1's RAM.

The best rhythm game! Vibri is so cute. At first glance she looked a bit creepy to me, but at the end of the day she is cute as anything. I love this game.

@@merlin1649 But I'm confused on how that works. Can't the PS1 (or any disc-based console) only read one disc at a time? Or would the music be ripped from the memory cards as the game plays?
@@TubeheadSkinnymike It prompts you to put in the music cd. The game is still running and just reads the music files on the disk you put in you can choose the tracks you want to play. Even though it is in Japanese it isn't hard to figure it out at all. So remember if you burn a music cd make sure you convert it to a wave file to play on stereos and cd walkmans.

I find it easier to remember how to get through the combo obstacles now that I know how to categorise them.
The left side of the controller is for simple obstacles (block & pit) and the right side is for complex ones (loop & wave)
The top buttons are for obstacles that rise above the ground (block & loop) and the bottom buttons are for obstacles that stay on the ground (pit & wave)

I don't think it's just one genre. The name of the band that plays a few songs is called " Laugh And Peace ". You might want to check out the Katamari Damacy game soundtrack if you get a chance as well.

It's Japanese, just in case you didn't know, I also think Animanese (Animal Crossing language) is high-pitched and sped English or whatever language the version is.
I went to library to burn the songs from arcane including two bonus songs, get jinxed from episode 4 which is not in the official soundtrack and the version of enemy without J.I.D, can't wait to but this game on eBay and play those songs!
