Who's got Zorin OS running on their systems?
I have been using it for some time, both at work and at home, with very good results.
And the award for the first comment goes to you :D
What kind of apps do you use?
For work, mainly Libreoffice (writer, calc, impress), Firefox.
For leisure, Lutris, thanks to which I can play my favorite game: Diablo II Resurrected.
replaced windows 10 on a very low performance notebook with zorin, hassle free and way better performance. User didnt felt a difference
As a total noob on Linux, transitioning from Windows, Zorin is very appealing..
And much resource friendly, I'm still learning new things and so far its great...
Thank you for the insights into this Distro 👏
I love Zorin my first Linux experience for a month now switch to Linux from Windows.
I really appreciate your video - I'm glad to see the update to the kernel with this release.
Thanks dude. Yeah I'm hella glad to see that kernel upgrade too. I really wish they would give you a recent kernel on a regular basis like pop os without user intervention.
I had installed Zorin as dual Boot with Win10, in my old Dell Laptop, I3 processor, Very good results. No lagging. For Spread Sheet installed WPS Office. I want to continue this Zorin OS, though using Windows. My favorite is, in this OS is Zorin Connect, with this I can connect to my Mobile. I would like to say : "LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT" with Zorin OS. Thank you Zorin Team.
does it suport rx560 graphics ma graphics card gpu faans not spinning pčlease help link or anything i could use
I actually recommend Ventoy over Balena Etcher; with Ventoy, you can just let Ventoy make your USB pen/thumb drive bootable, then cut-and-paste the distro .iso of your choice onto it (or even several distro .iso images) -- then boot to the drive, choose which live environment you want to boot into, play with it, install it, whatever.
Yeah Ventoy's really cool. I think one time when Balena wasn't working for me, when I was trying to create a bootable USB for Windows installation. IIRC, Ventoy just did it fine. Booted into the installation program and I was on my way.
Yeah. I have a 32Gb thumb drive, and using Balena to etch just one ~3Gb .iso onto it just seems wasteful to me after finding Ventoy.@@GsMultiverse
On my oldest , Gen 4, X1 Carbon ThinkPad I run Zorin 17.1 Education, and it is totaly free. Zorin dual boots alongside Fedora 40. I also use a modded versions of Windows 11 on another laptop.
Zorin just looks too good. A lot better than windows in my opinion. It has that modern feel.
Does it collect and send/sell user data? It has a lot of feature like windows. I wonder if it collects user data as well
I am using zorin 16 can i update to 17.1 without data loss
Sure! Just be extra safe and backup your data somewhere else
I have to put this on my schedule. I'm trying ouf a number of windows alternatives.
My problem is I use a lot of proprietary that are rare enough. That no one has created an alternative. And often when there is an alternative. The learning curve to learn a new system is just too high. Especially for a program that isn't used all the often.
Totally understandable. Give it a try and lemme know how it went :)
@GsMultiverse Sure thing, researching this a little more. I might move Zorin up the que.
One additional note; I've played with Logsec a little, and maybe it's because I'm rapidly closing in on 'older fella' territory, but I just don't "get it." However, coming from macOS and the Ulysses markdown app, Obsidian is just my speed.
🥲 the kids in my apartment building call me uncle. Like, bruh!! I graduated uni barely 2 yrs ago. We're all older fella to someone I guess.
Thank for the video. Can you show us how to install windows software like Photoshop on Zorin and make it work?
It's best not to talk about Photoshop on Linux 🙂

No problem, let's throw all the adobe package out. I really don't like the adobe software and still it is very known so everyone will know the options.
Maybe can you show us other windows software installed on Zorin?

I really wish they'd update more frequently
Sameeee, at least the kernel. If nothing else.
U using the cosmic desktop?
Damn, for a second I thought you were Jenna Ortega :D
I was using it, but it was too unstable around a month ago, which is expected really. Will try again when the alpha launches.

I don't know who that is lol. I like Pop Os but I don't like that old version of gnome, hope they release the oficial Cosmic soon
She's a famous actress. Yeah I'm waiting for that as well
PoP OS, also if you begin switching your apps to web versions and LibreOffice, there are very few specific programs that would require Windows, even games running on Proton/wine run very good and fast. Some platforma like Steam also provide Linux based games or compatibility.
Wass poppin'
I just installed Zorin on an old W10 laptop. I had stopped using it because it was just too slow. It's running way better than my W11 Ryzen 7 laptop should. I think it's the right time to switch to Linux
is zorin os a secure linux? respect the user's privacy. did the corporation create it?
I've bounced back and forth from Linux back to Windows for the last few years. I don't really use my PC for much other than browsing, streaming and playing games. While most of this works just fine thanks to proton there is just enough keeping me from a permanent switch. Like, any game that requires some sort of anti-cheat... So, on linux playing shooters with friends is off the table. The biggest non-negotiable thing is no "just works out of the box" HDR - Which is getting closer every day. But until there is a time when I don't need to use work-arounds or a bunch of command arguments for gamescope to make HDR work in a game I can't use Linux.
I know it's close. Might even be this year... once it all just works without fuss, i'll make the switch. It's a switch i'm very much looking forward to!
Yes, but it's kinda outdated and doesn't have good fractional scaling. Becomes blurry.
To be very frank the windows app support is really a disappointment, its nothing but wyne which comes inbuilt. The zorin os is a buggy software i switched to several distros after this, and came back to ubuntu ,still its a masterpiece
well good for you that you are ubuntu enjoyer.
just use wine.
