Happy birthday Kylie! Maximum Overdrive was directed by Stephen King and judging from the movie's style he must have been coked out of his mind the entire time. That movie is batshit crazy, incoherent and utterly amazing. It might be the most entertaining Stephen King adaptation of all time. It feels like Stephen King just randomly shot whatever he wanted to on any given day regardless of story continuity or plot. It's a work of demented genius and I wish Stephen King had directed more movies while higher than a space shuttle.
Stephen King has said in interviews that he was doing coke(a lot of coke) while directing Maximum Overdrive.

Trick or Treat has an impressive 4K release that should be coming soon. Synapse is distributing it. There's no release date yet but it's looking like it'll be out later this year or early next year.

Wow, lots of awesome stuff! That Carrie steelbook looks awesome.. and I actually planned on rewatching Wild Things soon, haven't seen it in ages, it's definitely very 1999.. it also stars Matt Dillon and Kevin Bacon.. and The Breakfast Club is definitely my favorite film from the 80s, so yeah that Criterion Collection edition is sweet!
True Romance is incredible! Such a classic and yeah the cast is absolutely stacked.. Quentin Tarantino wrote it but didn't direct it, but many still consider it a "Tarantino film"..
I love Ghost World! It's so good.. it stars Thora Birch, Scarlett Johansson and Steve Buscemi.. definitely worth checking out!

Army of Darkness was the best of the Evil Dead trilogy.I watched them in reverse order. Army of Darkness was the first one I seen.

True Romance, is directed by Tony Scott from Top Gun fame and written by Quentin Tarantino. It's a bonkers, over the top action movie. Gary Oldman is doped up most in his cameo appearance and James Gandolfini assaults Patricia Arquette. If you're ready for that type of thing. And that's my take without ruining the movie.
Hush doesn't even have a dvd listed on Amazon, I've looked MANY times. Unless it's a foreign release, I doubt it's legit. Hard Candy is amazing.

That Young Frankenstein you got was part of a series where an artist did Day of the Dead inspired covers. I have one for The Fly. They are so cool, I wish I bought the whole series. Also mine has a little coloring book of the covers, I hope that's in there!
This was an awesome long physical media haul update. I was not expecting the little maggots but that's sweet. I love that Carrie case. It's so cool! Regarding that Paul steelbook, it wasn't comics styled just for it, although it fits its theme more, than many others, but that was a whole series by Universal called "Reel Heroes" released in 3 'waves' in 2013 and 2014, 26 in all. By today's 'standards' they're bad, in that they don't have any inner art, and the back isn't 'clean', i.e. has the 'tech sheet' printed right on it, but I really like them, their design, and they look very well together, so maybe you'll want to track a few more down on eBay or in thrift stores (doubt that).
Later they used that design for dozens more titles in various countries, but only on slips or regular amaray covers. Too bad, as I'd love more steelbooks in that style.

Brick is decent, my favorite Rian Johnson film. Manic stars young Joseph Gordon Levitt, young Zooey Deschanel & Don Cheadle. all three of them kill it in their roles, super underrated movie. JGL was picking a lot of good indie film roles around this time.

Yes I gave you the other 4K of Army of Darkness when I traded up to the steel-book but I didn’t want you this time to miss out. Steelbook covers I use because stacked together they could get scratches. We don’t want that to happen. Others have sleeves to protect them. I did find some deals and yes your collection is growing. Maggots were a good touch. 😜 thanks for the recognition but my kids would tell you I don’t do it for that. A simple smile on your face and a thank you is reward enough. Also as a side note, Pretty Baby is a technically well made film, but just absolutely gross in many aspects. Brooke Shields recently produced an amazing documentary called “Pretty Baby: Brooke Shields”. Personally I would recommend watching that than Pretty Baby

And I got lucky several years ago to find it on DVD. It needs the Shout Factory treatment. Blu Ray.4k steelbook. But sadly it probably will never happen because of all the legal bs that would happen. The band that did the soundtrack(Fastway) , the producers, director, writer, actors all needing to sign licensing agreements. I can guarantee Gene Simmons would be a dick about it. That's one reason it took so long to hit DVD and you never see it on streaming. Because of him it almost didn't make it to DVD. The other problem is some people who would need to sign off on an updated release have passed away. But we can always hope. Also I'm so jelly. Like lime green. About all those amazing steel books, especially Army of Darkness. I love the Evil Dead trilogy. I can honestly say I love them all equally. Much love from Pennsylvania❤❤❤❤❤❤

You got some good ones there. Night of the hunter is more about Robert Mitchum’s unnerving performance, I wouldn’t say it’s horror, but good film.
Brick is a good take on classic detective noir, but in a modern setting. Good watch.
Ghost World, I really like. It’s a good off beat slacker comedy. Based on a series of comics.
I watched True Romance for the first time, a few weeks ago. Been on my list for a long time. The film was written by Quentin Tarantino, but he didn’t direct it. I liked it and thought it was a good watch, and liked the huge cast of big names. But couldn’t help but notice the striking similarities between it and a film by Terrence Malick called “Badlands” that stars Martin Sheen and Sissiy Spacek. We all Tarantino is notorious for ripping films off 😅
