One of my favorite descriptions of Larry Bird was this quote from Pat Reilly: "If I need someone to save the game, I want Jordan." "Of I need someone to make a shot to save my life, I want Bird."
The guys on the bench losing it for their opponent is one of the greatest moments in sports history lol So good to see Dominique ' Chocolate Thunder ' Wilkins. My grandpa took me to see him in Washington High School ( North Carolina ). Hope he's doing well.
I had season tickets to every game at Boston Garden from 1981-1995. It's all true! Man, you could hear Larry Legend yapping to everyone who came into that old building. It was funny as hell! Bird was one funny cat! That's why he's the GOAT! Great video brah, good job!
It's good to see young cats show respect for the greats of the game. One of the most skilled ballers of all time. The man, the myth, the legend... Larry Jo Bird.
Good to see the young bucks doing their research ... Teams and players from that era played with heart and hustled their ass off , that's why them dudes were idolized to this day
I like how you give credit to the uploader where credit is due, cause you know the amount of work that's needed to edit and upload a video. Regarding Larry Legend, actions speak for themselves, they don't need me. Legend for a reason.
Yeah, Matt doesn't take advantage of the ol creators . I felt same way about Matt giving credit to Nick for his work. I think Matt could do good making his own vids. He has the looks, the knowledge and he loves bball, which is a great combo. I remember most of the highlights from Bird's career. I watched every game I could back in the 70's thru the 90's. I got to enjoy a talent rich NBA ( after the ABA folded the NBA got their stars ) explode into the national limelight. All this after having the 1978 or 1979 NBA Championship being shown AFTER the local news at 11PM! THE reason was the Bird-Magic college championship game. This led into the professional rivalry that not just saved the NBA but made basketball the popular, world-wide game it is today. Sorry for ramblin' on. I still get worked up some talking old school ball.
They were placing a brand new statue of Dominique Wilkins in Atlanta a while back and someone told Larry Bird about it. Larry said, “That’s nice that they are doing that for Dominique.... but I bet that statue is not of him playing defense.” Ha! 🔥 Bird still has it! 😂
Basketball was great back in the 80’s and 90’s. It was a privilege to see Bird, McHale, and Parish just work other teams! Not a Boston fan at all but much respect has to be given. Bird is maybe not the G.O.A.T. as far as an individual player. But he was absolutely a great with his selflessness and teamwork. The trio Boston had was absolutely amazing! Good video man thanks!!
My favorite Larry Bird story BY FAR is by Jayson Williams, it’s FULARIOUS! th-cam.com/video/IETKp56oM84/w-d-xo.html (Larry Bird almost made a player commit suicide) The actual interview starts @2:38

One of the many things I don't like about today's game is how players are all huggy and friendly. Bird and team would walk out there with chips on their shoulders and tell the other team they were going to kick their assess.
Its SO damn sad that we will never see a basketball era like this ever again. Theyve watered the game down so bad with so many restrictive new rules the players cant be near as openly competitive and entertaining as this era was.
Only reason LB cant play in this era is because hes a lethal trashtalker. He would get techs every game 😆. But it would be satisfying to see him make all these kids cry.

You consider the area of Indiana where Larry grew up in and he really didn't see color. He honed his game against older black men who would play after they got off work. Larry learned a lot from them and they made him the player he was in the NBA.
