    Got to hand it to you. That's one hell of a box to cart down the cliffs even worse to carry back up. I used to use a rucksack and the rods strapped across my back with a bungee strap, kept the hands free for climbing back up

    Losing rods is always gutting ; I had lots of gear stolen from my mates lock up on his fishery a few years back. I could handle losing most of it but not my 4 Sportex 2.75 carbon Kevlars - had them for 20 years and like an extension to my arm. Gear becomes personalised and it is not easy to fully replace the memories.
    Still, no point in holding on - move on and keep fishing; angling is ultimately about fishing and not the gear really. A nice rod tho that AFAW - tight lines and an enjoyable video 👍

      It's been 3 weeks since I last used them so think they're gone for good. Might be a little pause in the lure vids as I re-group, but already looking to buy a new rod a reel, so hopefully not too long a pause.

      No worries and thanks for owning up :-) As Boatsbitsandbobs has said you can remove it by clicking on the thumbs down again but don't worry, I don't take them to heart. Glad you like the vids and I can offer a bit of inspiration, keep casting and you'll beat the blank. If you live in Cullercoats (assumed from your handle) then the rocks exposed at the south side of the harbour can be good for bait fishing- 2 hours either side of a medium/small low tide with a little swell running, casting either straight to the other side of the gully or diagonally north east across. Hope this helps and tight lines👍🎣

      @@SlippyLimpets I wasn't pulling your leg BTW - the 'key' lighting of your head torch on your arms focusses the action entirely on the rotational dynamic aspect of a human fishing with a reel (from which I learned some things I won't bore you with but it informs reel design I think) - and it actually produces a fish. Now that's pretty cool to me.

    Another great video, cheers. I feel your pain on the rods. I was fishing & it was pouring down. Walked back to my truck & started putting my tackle in the back. The wife called so, I leaned the 2 lure rods against the bed, then I got in out of the rain. After the call I just drove off. One of the outfits had a Stella that I'd only had for about 2 months. A $1600 loss in one foul swoop. That was about 6 years ago, & I'm still gutted. Lesson learned.

      Ouch! that sounds horrific- a Stella -no wonder you're still hurting 6 years on! Thinking back to the day I left my rods, I remember taking a call just as I got back to the car, so my take away from this is to turn my phone off!

Luckily the daiwa black gold rods were on sale so I was able to pick up a replacement pretty quickly, its an extra foot and a half on my old shimano but is just what I wanted for winter pike and summer bass, 50-110g because I love throwing big gliders and 80g just doesn't cut it

      @@SlippyLimpets I love throwing big hardbaits, slow sinking gliders and top water lures in particular, and those can get up there in weight. The good thing about it is that even Jack pike will go for a big glider and they have a really nice action on a steady retrieve so it's good for lazy lure fishing. I'm mostly fishing freshwater, lures for pike in winter and a bit of everything in summer, since I'm right near the fens it's my "natural habitat" so to speak but can't resist trying for a bit of bass action on the hols

    I tend to tie a shock leader and use about 3 meters of cheap chinese spectra (very strong) Your decent braid will last longer. I found I was always cutting 1-3 meters of my J-braid off after a session as it gets damaged.

    • @SlippyLimpets
      @SlippyLimpets  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I used to always use Power Pro Super 8 , and it lasted years, but couldn't find it when I needed to replace after losing it to 10 tons of weed one night last year. This J-Braid does seem a little less abrasion resistant than the Super 8, think the newer Grand version is meant to be better in this respect. Saying that, I've not been getting much damage to it, could be the different grounds we fish

      Thanks for the tip👍 Never really thought I needed a bait tool since I normally always fished with Lug, might invest (or make one) now I've started to use cocktails more. As, always thanks for watching👍🎣

    I’m glad he released the cod, even though it was of size we need more people to like him to appreciate the only way we get bigger ones is to send them back and let them grow

    Carry the old bell on a peg as a back up bite indicator Nathan, in fact I prefer them as you hear them even if looking away, by God you've had a bad week for gear lad, hope you get them back.

    • @SlippyLimpets
      @SlippyLimpets  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've seen those Bell indicators and, thinking about it, could help out quite a bit. I'll get a few ordered. Tight Lines David👍🎣

    I think its time to find a fishing buddy, them fishing marks look extremely dodgy especially at fishing at night, plus having some one to talk too while your not getting bites will stop you going insane hahaha

    • @SlippyLimpets
      @SlippyLimpets  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I've got one, he just can't come fishing every time I want to go. Plus, I have 13k of you guys to talk to in between bites, although your not that talkative on the night 😂

    Canny little session on the rocks, couple of codling and a coalie. There's some proper shitbags kicking about stealing owt that's not nailed down. Keep an eye on eBay, gumtree and similar sites as they may try selling your gear on there, esp if it comes up that they are local sellers to yourself 👍👍. Anyway, all the best as always and tight lines Charlie 🎣🎣🎣

      They are pretty much all around the UK- Yorkshire, Northumberland and Bristol Channel have some good fishing - But the North East of Scotland near Arbroath seem to have a really good stamp of fish.

      It's been a few weeks since last had it and I've tried the local tackle shops but no joy. Think I'm going to have to save some pennies, get on the net and find some new tackle. As always, thanks for watching 👍🎣
