I just put The Hermitage Museum in St Petersburg as one of my must visit destinations...can we visit the basement and pet the cats?
As far as I understand, you can see cats during the only guided tour of the year, which is held on the Day of the Hermitage Cat. This date is celebrated in the museum annually in April-May. As far as I understand, the tour takes place on different dates. For example, in 2016, the Hermitage Cat Day was held on May 21-22.
Word of advice, stay away from that shithole of a country if you value your life & freedom

Their ancestors saved the city from rats during the Siege of Leningrad. Witnesses said that the rat infestation was worse than starvation. 💔💔💔
The ancestors of these cats had to be brought to the city by a train cart from places like Kazakhstan as all the original cats of Leningrad were eaten by the starving people.
People should never be annoyed by feral cats. They provide priceless pesticide free/organic roden control......free of charge.....living off tips....if you want to leave some dry Frisky kibble out for them (and don't forget some fresh water) they won't say "no"😉

The basement in which the cats live looks deteriorated. Hope that now that the cats will inherit money from that nice french guy who left part of his fortune to them, they will remodel the cat place.
The cats live in a basement of a building that was constructed in 1700s. OF COURSE place will look old and deteriorated....duh
