    I'm Thai-Chinese-Filipino-Spanish, grew up learning all the languages plus English and some other more. It got me a lot of voice over jobs as a teen and other part time work where my language skills are needed. It will be really helpful for the kid to know more languages, most especially if they are multicultural.

    Please teach them languages. What a gift it is to think and speak in a different language and connect with others elders especially.

      @P Learning a language is never useless. Anyone who believes that is an idiot.

    • @common-sense-is-dead

      @P For starters, we function in a global economy so learning another language other than your native tongue can be invaluable and bring value to future employment opportunities. It's also been scientifically proven that children who learn multiple languages in their developmental years learn faster. My kid speaks Italian, Spanish and English. I taught her English and Italian because as a kid I spent the first 8 years of my life living in Italy.

    I totally agree- Language is a gift you can give your children!!! I spoke Spanish to my children when they were little. They are adults now. Their Spanish is not as strong as mine, as they are English dominant. But, they understand more when people are speaking to them in Spanish. I am proud of my kids!!!

    S ak pase Vlad!! 😀 My husband is from a different country and grew up learning 4 languages. As an American, I now speak 5. My mother's family is from Jamaica but she was born and raised in NYC. It's extremely important to expose your children to different languages and cultures whether you're mixed heritage or not.

    Beautiful conversation. I love this space we're in where many families are teaching their culture to their children early instead of leaving it up to the child to find their way through American culture (or lack there of). This will definitely create a firm foundation for them along their journey 🤩

    I have Japanese Peruvian kids but they look more Asian than latino. We live in Arizona where the Asian population is very low so I hope when they start going to school, they are confident and proud of their heritage.

    Language is really a gift you can give your children but I see it more like currency. The more you have, the better off you are even if you don’t use it. I’m fluent in Haitian Creole, English and little bit in Spanish and French. I will teach my kids how to speak Creole and a little Spanish and French I know. I want them to be diverse and well rounded.

    4:15 I question the study and wonder if they need to separate it out based off languages. Japanese / Korean have verbs at the end. Your brain needs to think completely different than romance languages and English.
    Yes, if the kids master both languages when they are young, it probably helps. But, knowing a little makes your brain confused. Really think that's why I was terrible with English grammar when I was younger.

    Really strange to talk the language to a kid if one of the parents doesn't know it.

    • @conniem1748
      @conniem1748 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Not really. I'm African and trilingual. My parents speak two completely different African languages and my siblings and I are fluent in both. We learned English in Kindergarten. My dad speaks my mom's language, that's how they were able to communicate but my mom can't speak his so we switch languages when she's not around. Culturally, our first language is our dad's because just like women and children take the man's last name, they also take his language and culture as priority.

      Why isn’t our media reporting Native Americans want their government to compensate them for harms and return stolen land?
      In 1850, hasn’t their government passed a law to remove Native Americans from their lands, separate children from their families, strip people of their cultures and languages?
      Residents in the Indian territory have been calling for the removal of radioactive waste from their land for years, but there are still hundreds of registered abandoned uranium mines that need to be cleaned up.
      They have been facing water shortages for generations due to lack of running water system installed for local households.
