did the tour a few years ago. They said he broke his toe kicking the safe, gangrene set in, they removed the toe, then his foot, next was at the knee they couldn't stop it and he died.

@@chvfd687 Oh it's good! My grandmother never drank but she kept that little bottle of whiskey or bourbon just for pumpkin pies. My mother made them that way and now I do. You cut back a little on the evaporated milk and add the whiskey or bourbon of your choice. It doesn't even have to be the pricey liquor either. Then you bake it per directions. I use the recipe on the Libby's canned pumpkin. It takes pumpkin pie to a whole different level. It's adds that little sumthin sumthin of flavor. The alcohol burns off during baking.

The little town and shops that surround the distillery are really nice and I always thought it was very interesting that the county that the distillery is in is a dry county. So even though it’s made there you have to go a county over to buy it.

When my siblings and I were little and we had.a bad chest cold. My mom would send my father to the liquor store to get whiskey, and rock candy. Now we swallowed enough codliver and castor oil to never be sick again. She would put a cap full in the glass with some cola and rock candy then gave it to us. Then she gave us cod liver and castor oil, told us that we better not spit it back up. Afterwards we had the rest of the coke. Now neither of my parents drinked. I do not drink no alcoholic beverage , not even beer. As a joke one of my siblings every winter bring me a 2 ounce bottle of jacknhoney. Say in case you get a bad chest cold, have a little nip. I said that to say this. One year there was a bad flu epidemic. And hospitals was full. My father was sick. They had no beds period. I never forget one of my fellow interns said. Hey take him home. Get some whiskey make some hot tea with lemon, add a just a cap full, that will break his fever, clear up his chest, he will be gawking up that cold in no time, repeat every 4 to 6 hours. He said whiskey was better than anything the hospital would give him..hey we did just that. My father got over it. What do I do with all those little bottles of jacknhoney my sister give me. Well I keep them in a cool dry place, incase oneday I have to barter and trade for a loaf of bread. True when you used see people clean out wounds with alchohol to kill the germs. Like I said I'm not a drinker, my mom just did what her grandmother did. I've never did this with my children, I never will. Hot lemon tea with honey yes. Nor would I give my children cold medicine with alcohol. To each his or her own. I always heard bourbon come from kentucky, whiskey come from Tennessee. If you want to know what's really funny, I had one bad cold. I happen to be working that night. One of the drs gave me a pill. The next day my cold was gone. No cough. No sneezing. I wish I knew what that pill was, but I don't. I never thought to ask. That being said. God Bless, take care. Peace, love and Blessings. Love, respect and positivity always.👍✌🤗🕯🙌🖖🙂👋. Maybe it has changed, but I remember vividly that I was only allowed to "sample" their then newly planned (not yet released) "gentlemen jack" during a private meeting after the tour, in a private area, because Lynchburg was in a "dry county" where alcohol was not allowed.
That was rather surprising to me, considering where I was.

Square bottle preserves the taste better, because of the swirl when poured 💯

In the 1980's when I toured the distillery, it was a dry county where it's located and each employee received a free bottle of Jack each pay day. I'm curious if those are still the same. So Google here I come.

The first Friday of each month is known to Distillery employees as "Good Friday". It is on this day they are awarded a bottle of JACK DANIEL'S Old No. 7.

I toured the facility several years ago and it is fascinating how they make whiskey. It is a dry county! They are very heavy regulated and was great to see the process!....I feel a song coming on.....jack Daniel's if you please.....knock me to my knees! Take good care!

Just catching up on videos. Enjoyed this one. My Dad was born not far from Lynchburg and back in the day his Grandfather grew fruit and sold it to the Daniels distillery. They would pay him in cash and whiskey. Needless to say, it took him several days to get back home on horse and buggy.. certainly not as long as it took for him to get TO the distillery! LOL

If you couldn't get enough alcohol to make hard liquor for drinking during WW II I suppose it wasn't too much of a hardship. Prohibition was from 1920-1933, that's 13 years without the stuff legally. So when the US got in the war in 1941 they were kind of used to it I guess. Those that really wanted it I suppose always got it anyway.

I only had one shot of it years ago and I didn't care for it, but I am not a hard liquor drinker. Jack Daniel's was my brother's favorite and it was also the favorite whiskey of Frank Sinatra.

Good vid! Glad to see you back at it, Lamont. I think most of your subscribers care about you and know that you care about people, including people who have died. So we want you to do well. I hope you get one of those little houses that you wrote about in another post, a place where you can seek refuge from the road and occasionally sleep in a real bed. Take care my friend.
