    Going over the typical expenses of building a 4mil Yamaha Banshee
    It cost HOW MUCH!? to build a 4mil Banshee??? | Project 4mil
    Here it is guys, highly requested, all of the costs of building project 4mil. Granted there are some small odds and ends that I left out such as my chain and sprockets; however these aren't mandatory to build a stroker motor.

      Built the same bike as yours put I went with high port timing with inframe pipes and v force 3s. Cost was about 3500 for me minus bike pipes reeds and clutch which I used the slingshot lockup as I didn’t want to buy a new clutch cover for 489$ a great alternative for half the price.

      Michael Sabo never heard yay or nay on if you were interested in doing a rebuild series on my LT500? I have parts and I can pay you for labor and I can get the roller and engine and all parts up to you. Let me know I know the quadzilla got a lot of interest in the comments section when you posed the question. Mines a nasty bitch.

      @@shredder_mang3211 i get where your coming from but one of the main reason that the shee the lt250r and 500r were loved is because if the simplicity of them adding efi of any kind makes things more unnecessarily complicated. Im i saying that efi is bad not at all but adding fancy electronics to something that gets wet and coverd in mud dirt and sand all things that electronics dont like is dumb. Its the same reason/problem that i have with any modern car/truck to complex for thier own good when something brakes you just cant fix it you yave to take it in to a dealership and and pay an absorbent price for someone to plug a computer into it and fix it. I grew up on the dunes of the Oregon coast. A banshee even stock is quite scary. Had regular reports of people dying on them. Then there are the motorcycle riders.
    Realistically for fun the Honda 250r and Yamaha warrior (also Honda 400 - 4 stoke) were amazing quads.
    The Banshee is exactly as the name would suggest. Absolute 2 stroke monster.

      yes and no. I have both a 80 hp banshee and r1 swapped banshee. the r1 is like riding a comfy couch that will kill you. it doesn't do any one thing really good other then having a ton of power and running a whole weekend on 5 gallons of non eth premium. the reg banshee I will go through 20 to 25 gallons of race fuel plus mix. but that sounds of the inline 4 screaming up the dunes at 11,000 rpm is pretty sweet!!

    How did you decide on jet sizing? I shaved the heads to up the compression and am running 4% methanol with 118% octane race fuel, getting a weird power curve out of the motor now. it will stumble for a bit at lower RPMs but then when it hits the power ban it peaks and starts to run normal. I am also running FMF pipes and expansion chambers. Additionally, how did you configure you're rear swing arm to handle that power, i have cracked the welds on three rear arms now with no solution.

    Howd you go with your jetting.i have to servals,one stock 35mm pwk.,pro curcuits.the other redline ported 35mm pwk sniper pipes. Both v4 421.what i have found is bottom end pipes like more main jet and steeper needle .ie d taper 162 at sea level and mid top pipes like c taper needles and smaller main jets.150 ish.
    The stock 421 serval with standard gears will pull sixth gear wheelies on demand with a d needle but wont even come close with a c needle.(very touquey engine) so in summary mains should be tuned first and then if mains are higher than160 at see level then a d taper is best(richer less efficient top end) for a bottom mid pipe ,and less the 160 .ie 148 to 155 then a c taper is by far best.(more efficient at top end).
    Conversly the bottom end can be cleaned up with fatter or leaner straight section of needle and obviously mid bog can be taken out needle position.
    Good luck with slps .like to hear final results

  • @RedBeardLongRange
    @RedBeardLongRange 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    I am in the process of building a 2005 TRX450r. It is rideable right now, but I’m changing some things up on it. It’s got a Monster shorty exhaust ($650), bored FCR carb ($300), Hotcam 3 ($150), airbox delete with filter ($80), head cut for +1 valves ($495), porting from Racers Edge ($450), CP 13.5:1 piston ($290), OEM crank rebuilt with a Carrillo rod and balanced for the piston ($650), JJ&A axle ($575), dynatek ignition ($150), OEM clutch with Cr500 springs ($150), and bought the quad blown up for 1200. First trip out I was gapping a 4 mil banshee with a 120 pound rider on its back (and I’m 235) up choke cherry at the st Anthony dunes. I’m in the process of getting the swingarm changed out for a +4 with 06+ linkage, and getting buffs for the front, with 12 paddle 75 RO gliders for the back. I used to be a banshee guy. Til I decided to give a trx450 a go. And won’t go back to a banshee unless I’m building an all out drag quad. It’s sitting in the mid 50hp range. And I can find more power if I put in a higher compression piston, and change up to a Web 242 cam and tune on MR12. But, seeing as it’s a duner, it’s gonna be kept where it’s at for power.

    • @RedBeardLongRange
      @RedBeardLongRange 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Trevor Slenders I’ve ridden it a bit now. Had it dyno tuned, and it makes 60 on T4 race fuel.

    • @RedBeardLongRange
      @RedBeardLongRange 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Trevor Slenders mines stock stroke stock bore. For the most part, the big bore kits for the 4 strokes are trash. If you want a good one, get one through Racers Edge seeing as he makes the cylinder, and it can ACTUALLY hold compression. The stroked engines don’t hold up too terribly long.

    Here in Canada things are more expensive. I bought a thrashed banshee last year for $2800. In retrospect I overpaid cause it blew up a couple months after I bought it. But the price of banshees is also going up. Turns out the previous owner had a shop change the pistons after one grenaded in the cylinder. They left metal in the bottom of the crankcase and the next piston did the same thing. But I would bet in Canada your build would be more like $10k as parts are a lot more here.

    I've heard the term "4mil" before but never asked what it meant. I had no idea a 4mil Banshee upgrade encompassed such a wide variety of "it's better now" hop-ups.
    Think of what your Banshee would look like if all the external/visible aluminum was anodized (red, blue, green, black, brass...there are a few different colors you can get).

      @billymanilli ปีที่แล้ว

      All it means, SPECIFICALLY, is the crank has 4mm (4mil) more stroke than a stock sized one. It doesn't mean "a whole bunch of parts"... Change the the crank (which means changing at least the rod length too), and there you have it.. a "4 mil" Banshee! 🤘

    So... question... why did you choose SLP over CPI or Shearer when pairing with the large 35 carbs? I could see using them with smaller carbs, but you’re cutting the airflow down with the pipes?

      SLP was recommended to me by Driveline Performance which is the company that make the 421 kit in this build. SLP also sponsored this build.

    I work at a well known race shop that specializes in super bike and moto gp engines. A lot of folks are floored when they get a build quote because they just don’t understand the time and research that goes into building these engines. Super bike engines are as far as specs go for the most part stock engines. But for us to build one will start in the ballpark of $13,000.00 for the engine alone. Easily double that for a moto gp engine. People forget that bikes are mass produced on a production line and slapped together with “ close enough” tolerances . We spend on average 100 man hrs balancing an engines rotating assy to perfect 0’s . And on average an addl 200-300 hrs on each head making them as close to perfect as humanly possible in every area.

    Is br8es a warm enough spark plug for that kind of power, because my 50cc moped runs the same spark plug and it only has a power exhaust and it has around 6hp.

    • @MichaelSabo
      @MichaelSabo  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's an interesting though, the br8es was what was recommended to me but it's possible a hotter plug would be better.

    • @zethloveless7238

      clay yarosz for trails and hills the 4 stroke.

    • @zethloveless7238
      @zethloveless7238 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Adam apparently you don’t know why 4 strokes are used over 2 strokes for trail riding. I love 2 strokes but for putting around trails a 4 stroke is the best. Can easily lug a 4 stroke but on a 2 stroke no. I used to foul the shit out of plugs on my 2 strokes if I wasent giving it the full beans and tried to lug around on trails. The way power is delivered matters.
