It’s actually a seating pad. And also, the older ones don’t have the sticker on it!
if your reason for not being able to use the bag is bc of the "small straps" then you could totally adjust them!! the buttons are MEANT to snap off and you're supposed to be able to elongate that whole strap!! the buttons are merely there for when you want to use it as a tote bag so the straps aren't flying everywhere. also, you should probably keep that foam pad in bc it does come w/ actual kankens and acts as padding/support so your bag doesn't bend like it did when you were trying to adjust the straps in this vid.

himerus thank you for the information!! unfortunately even when i leave the pad in the back the bag still will fold in on itself. I don’t know why this is, like the straps will also not go past a certain length. also the buttons are not secure what so ever.. they just pop off when i move my arms in the slightest. thank you for the helpful information though!
when i got my first kanken it took my ages to figure this out with the straps haha i had to google how to adjust them and figured out i had to unsnap the buttons first
leah.mermaid the buttons are supposed to snap off. if you want to wear it as a backpack the buttons aren’t supposed to be buttoned. it confused me when i bought mine too but it’s like that on all of them. hope this helps
youre supposed to unbutton them, undo them through the hoops on the top and adjust to your liking! check videos on youtube!

Hey girl! This actually sucks, but I just wanted to let you know that the pad in the back of the bag is not for back support. Rather the crossing position in the back straps gives you the back support. The foam padding is meant to be a seat cushion for when you are hiking and legit kankens have them too. I just wanted to let you know so when you do get a real one you aren’t surprised! Much love and have a good trip💓

Another way you can tell if the Kanken is fake is by the material because the fake ones are usually made of a cheaper thin fabric where as the real one is made of a canvas which is splash proof

the padding in the back also comes with real bags. i thought it was just a protective sleeve for where you put your laptop or whatever goes. actually he company says that it’s a butt pad for when you sit on grassy fields or on the ground. idk i always throw it out

I just tried that.. they couldn’t cancel the payment because it was already cleared.. but they did tell me to file a dispute with my bank for quality/authenticity of product fraud. And most likely your bank will refund the money

I just wanted to make a lil update on the bag. the straps on MY bag personally are not able to be adjusted.. I have tried multiple times and no luck. also I am aware that the real ones come with a foam insert, it’s just the one I received is terrible quality and nothing like the insert that comes in kanken bags. I appreciate all of the advice and support I have been given!! thanks everyone 💗

Contact the company! They are known for trading in the fake ones for real ones! I heard from numerous people who got cheated out of their money because it was fake! Hope this helps!

girl, when the seller told you that they couldn't refund you because their account "got deleted", that is not true at all!! you can file a claim with depop and then escalate it with PayPal if thats how you paid and you will get your money back! it's happened to me and I got refunded.

yeah the good back support thing comes from the lightweight make of the bag and how the staps are made, however if you get a legitimate kanken you should receive a pamphlet (some people don't) that tells you to keep the foam for comfort

i'm honestly so sorry that happened. to anyone who is considering buying one i recommend buying from the official site, urban outfitters, or nordstrom. those are just some sites that sell official ones that i know of. although getting one that is discounted sounds nice, i would just recommend buying the real thing. the official kanken website does have some sales at the moment too!

2:35 it’s a Swedish company but they manufacture most of their stuff in China and Vietnam... They do that bc it’s so much cheaper (including labor) to manufacture in foreign countries😊😂 but yesss we all have to be careful on where we buy Kanken Backpacks bc a fake one will look very similar to the original/authentic one😬

hey i have the same bag but i’m not sure if it’s fake or not, but it was an absolute pain to sort the straps and it always folded in on itself etc when i loosened them, so i unbuttoned them and buttoned then back down again to something on the other side and managed to make em bigger:)

The straps are tricky to figure out. I bought a real one and thought they wouldn’t adjust. Watch a tutorial on it. There’s a trick with the snap buttons at the bottom. You have to like shimmy them out through one of the loops

Actually most of the bags like the regular and the mini are assembled in China while the 15’ laptop one is assembled in Vietnam. I remember seeing this info on a video about the comparisons of the different versions of the bags.

When you tighten the bag you aren’t supposed to re do the buttons they are there for when the bag is all the way tightened so they aren’t flying everywhere. Trust me I have an authentic kanken and it does that.

i own a real kanken from the store. a while ago i bought a bigger one from this store called “kanken stores”. it was suppose to be a 17’ laptop bag. it didn’t come with the laptop pocket or the padded sleeves. the company ended up refunded me and now i have the free bag. i don’t know what i’m suppose to do with the fake bag. i don’t want to sell it and i don’t want to use it at the same time ya know
