Hi Clark, somehow a bunch of your videos showed up in my list again and I have watched several again. You have some very nice equipment. 73 WA4QGA

Thank you for the video, as of this writing I am close to full power testing on my 500c. 1000 mile road trip to get it. Most of the capacitor replacement to modern had been done. So I tested all the tubes, changed 2 and checked all the wiring against the schematics. Your video is my tutorial on tune up. Also have all the books as well. 73 N9OVJ

Thank you for posting I’ve got a 500B which I’m collecting parts to fully restore it. I got it close to free because it is 100% original and nobody else in the uk was interested. I’ve got to do another test to get my uk full license as my foundation license is 10w output max.
    Greetings from the uk

Very nice. I looked you up on Google street view. I don't suppose the street lamp is a disguise vertical? I am 76, probably will never get "back" on AM. I was first licensed in 65, general in 66. My first AM rig before I joined the Navy in 68 was a TCS-12. I actually have 2 or 3 Apaches and a couple of Mohawk receivers, all need work. If I remember the dial readout is busted on all of them--the circular plastic.

I know you made this video about a year ago, but it helps. My 500C doesn't have the white emblem between the meters like yours does. I run a Collins 75A-2 receiver. WS7P Thank you

W7WRX. Great clip. A must watch for anyone who might have just refurbished a king 500. I absolutely love these vintage transmitters. The look of the 500 would be blah, if it weren't for that Chrome bar with the what I'm assuming is red painted inserts. What a difference a piece of Chrome with the right color paint can make. Is the 500 King screen or plate modulated? Something tells me it's plate modulated, but I am not very versed in vintage transmitters, I just enjoy looking at them. In 1983, I purchased a working kws1, with no intentions of ever operating it. I just wanted to set it up as a showpiece, which is exactly what I did. Before moving in 1997, I sold it for exactly what I paid for it, $650. What a beautiful transmitter it was. I would remove the front cover on occasion, so I could look at working of the transmitter, for a bit. A friend of mine operated a EF Johnson Viking 500. What a wonderful transmitter it was, and the audio was something to behold. So many hams wide banding and direct injecting transceivers, but the audio out of those transmitters never come close, to the audio produced by a vintage transmitter. I actually heard a story about someone who wide banded a mint condition Viking 500. I just don't get it! Why somebody would want to wide band such an incredible sounding transmitter, is beyond me, especially when they could simply wideband a $500 transceiver, and probably sound the same, as they would on a wide banded Viking 500. I dislike the wide banded direct injected, outboard audio adjusted sound, of those transceivers. Once again excellent clip, and I'd like to compliment you on a beautiful piece of amateur radio history. Your 500 King looks awesome!

I'm debating whether or not I would put a keyed lockout switch in place of that turn dial mode switch. I like originality but don't want someone other than me breaking things lol. Nice piece of kit.
