I think maybe you should swap the couch with the two chairs. That would help visually break up the sets of doubles you have going on right now: ottoman cushions -> lounge chairs -> bar stools
Exactly and needs more too much rectangle, you need more different shapes! And NO I’m not telling u to run get round pillows!!! Please Don’t do that! Look up Kilim pillows and rugs! I find in mid century it’s based on shapes and forms, and pattern on pattern to get that fabulous design!
And also I would swap the two huge chairs and put them where the sofa is currently at! Would maybe try that lay out! ?!?! Just that’s what I do, I keep moving it until I get it where it looks the best!
Agreed! The chairs are one of my favourite pieces Paige ownes. Swapping them round with the sofa may do the trick. I also think that 2 sofas and an ottoman that is the same size may look too cluttered for the space, and just add more "large rectangles"
Came here to say exactly this. The perspective when she films makes it look like she can barely squeeze between the coffee table/bench and chairs...but I know it really isn't like that.
exactly what I wanted to suggest! those chairs are great, they just need a little more room "to breathe", which is on the opposite side. they can then even be separated with a little side table in between them. plus, as a personal preference, I'd feel more comfortable laying on the couch facing the door, rather then having them behind me.
Rug 18 is my absolute fave. Took my breath away! It's neutral enough for likely any furniture, good mix of dark and light. Totally geometric too, adding just a little extra to tie in all the other subtle geometric prints
I like that it’s graphic without being too geometric. There’s a lot of graphic blocks in that space and it would be nice to break it up with some more imperfect, handcrafted designs.
As much as I LOVE the armchairs, I have to agree that they don't work in the space. They're just simply to big and look chunky when placed right next to each other without space for a lil side table or something to break it up. I still think that two armchairs would look good in the space but they would have to be a lot smaller
I loved rug 13!!! I think it would go so well with the pink/tan undertones in your couch and if u keep the chairs, it would contrast the greeny tones in the chairs really well too
Okay, so I think you should go for rug number 13. i think it makes the most sense with the rest if your living room. Also, I think it’d be very sad if you got rid of the armchairs. Maybe the problem is how close they are to the bar stools, w makes that side of the room look quite busy. Maybe if you changed them with the couch, the space would feel less crowded?
Rug #18 really stood out as the one to consider buying. It has that op art look of the late 60's which is fun while still being subtle enough to use in any room of the home.
Yes! I love the chairs but with the 2 bar stools so close behind them it’s a bit much. I think a couch there would create a lovely flow and pull it all together 💖 Alternatively could try swapping the couch and chairs to see if that helps
@@ItsJessieYall992 Good point! I like the gal suggestions above to move the sofa to where the two chairs are currently so there isn't the 2/2 feeling with the bar stools. Then maybe two smaller chairs instead of the huge honking ones where the sofa currently is?
@@ItsJessieYall992 that’s a good point. Perhaps switching the layout - so couch by bar stools and smaller arm chairs where couch currently is. Or since the couch was custom upholstered, finding a similar shape and using the same material. But that’s the pricier route
Rugs 7 and 18 are stunning imo! And 18 would totally work in your space colour wise, and like someone else has already remarked its curvy patterns will create an interesting tension with all the rest of your shapes which are more austere and straight and will also soften them.
I’m convinced that those organization oriented shows toss anything that does not fit perfectly in the containers. I have yet to buy any that work as well as advertised. Js …. I appreciated how real that portion of the video was. I like #18. It has the more geometric element that you want, but it has some softness in the roundness of the shapes which would be a nice contrast to a lot of the hard lines you have in the room. I think the chairs, as fabulous as they are, are constantly throwing off your direction with that room. Which you already know because you’ve commented on it a few times. I think once you replace them the log jam will clear and you’ll have a much better idea of what comes next in terms of a coffee table or ottoman and a rug. I like that bench, though. Especially with the fabric you put on it. Maybe it would work in your bedroom? Or maybe it would work better in the living room once the chairs are gone and with #18, the combination of which will make your couch really pop. #18 has some softness in it’s contrasting colour as well which I think will tie in with your couch and your wall unit. Ya, the chairs gotta go, I think. Take them out and the room suddenly feels more cohesive.
I was just going to say 13 or 18! It would absolutely be helpful to put like a top 3 (rotating out which rug) in a collage with the furniture to narrow it down. I'd go with 13 or 18 and then just quick flip through and whichever one calls to you (Paige) as sort of a long shot but you like it for some reason. An underdog if you will. It'll become obvious I think.
The two chairs are creating a lot of doubles! It would be nice to have a small arm chair in the corner with a side table to open up to the kitchen entrance
Omg I do the same thing, where I just stare at my rearranged stuff. I really enjoy looking in my kitchen cabinets at my dishes when I put them all in there lol
I like rug 18. It's neutral, interesting, goes with the space, and would allow for some colorful pillows to stand out. I also think the black ottoman with black rug would be unexpected, but totally work because of the difference in scale of the patterns.
I love the fabric you chose for your bench. I’m into the mens ties and suit fabrics, as well. I was surprised you bought acrylic instead of natural material like bamboo for organizing your drawers, but it worked out well. I liked rugs 3 and 18. Can’t wait for more updates.
I was struck by those yellow books on the ottoman, so it feels like it needs brightness, as the rest of the colors are muted. That said, my favorite rug was #18 the mid-century onion motif. Rugs are tough, I've been looking for well over a year.
If you heat up the stickers with a hair dryer first, they'll come off cleanly. Also, Goo Gone works great if there's any left over glue that's eating away at your psyche.
#18 definitely. Everything is squared (fireplace tiles, bench fabric, chairs, couch) and the ball motif would give subtle neutral shape shift to everything else. Plus I think you would be annoyed if you place your strong squared furniture pieces & they scooch or misalign the least bit on one of the border or square patterned options. IMHO…
So, I just finished moving, and I put most of my furniture together. My dad helped me so much and a tip he gave me was to use long nails to "match & mark" holes through different pieces (like the cushions and the bench) to align them, and them screw the rest in place. It worked SO WELL when I was putting furniture by myself ❤ Also, I think the chairs are not meant to be like... together. Maybe a side table to break them apart, also I agree that switching places with the couch will help breaking all the repetition among your general furniture. I liked the last rug (18?) Of all of them it's the most neutral, and wont battle against any of your decor. However, the ottoman will get lost in that one.
Loved the fabric you picked for the bench and the acrylic fruit bowl. Leaning towards rugs 7 ,13, 18, they would go the best with your dark ottoman and light couch.
Oh, god, don't get rid of those chairs. They're awesome. I feel like 2 sofas would create too much visual obstruction, especially in a space that isn't huge. Also, I like having separate chairs. Sometimes guests don't want to sit next to someone. Having separate chairs gives them their own zone. Maybe swap positions, as others have said. I liked rugs 3, 5, 11, 14 and maybe 18. Kind of hard to gauge size, orientation, and color in relation to rest of room. None of them made me swoon, though. Maybe keep searching? I admire your bravery! I find the older I get, the more analysis paralysis I encounter. Also, decorating a house is more intimidating than all the rentals I've had. My choices feel more consequential. And furniture is expensive AF, even some secondhand stuff. So I'm basically living with just a sofa, chair, dining table and end table until something really speaks to me and I have more money.
Maximize silverware drawers by staggering less used items in the same bin RE: Salad fork tines at top of bin, dinner forks rest on handle of salad forks; serving and soup spoon bowls at top, of bin, teaspoon bowls rest on handles of serving & soup spoons; small knife blades at top, butter knife blades overlap handles of smaller knives. Some shifting will occur but works better than you may think & often frees up another drawer.
I was kinda sceptical at first when you told us you wanted to get an ottoman instead of a conventional table, but now I must confess you knew what you were talking about! It’s turned out fantastic, and I believe it is totally forever- worthy! ❤
Dawn power wash will get the residue left from all those stickers right off. I spray them and let it sit for a few minutes and then remove the sticker and the sticky residue usually comes right off the first time. If not add more and try again
I thought the coffee table/bench was like a navy color at first, which I thought looked gorgeous! So if you ever replace it and want something dark but a little softer…might be something to consider
Definitely #10 is my favorite rug, with #18 next. I like to consider my floor color as well as the furnishings. You have the best taste. I’m sure whatever you decide it will be fabulous!
Love rug #10 and #17! but i feel like it might make the space look a bit cluttered? since you already have a lot going on with the couch + ottoman + 2 massive chairs, maybe the rugs with simple/no pattern is better?
Hi Paige. I LOVE the fabric you put on your ottoman coffee table thing ! And I like the very bold red rug! Everything is looking cool and relaxed 🙂 …… and I love that weird plastic bowl thingy 😊✌🏼
Rug 13 is definitely my favorite even by itself, but I also think it would be the best for your space. The reddish purple would be complementary to the yellows and muted greens you already have. And it has those dark organic shapes!
18..maybe. I've owned geometric rugs and they honestly never really work and they gave me a headache just looking at them. So now I go to remnant rug wear houses where I can pick my rug and color and they cut it to the size I want and surge the sides for me. I've been doing that for years. It's very cost-effective and I know exactly what color I'm getting!
18 is my first choice and 9 is my second. I like 18 a lot for your color scheme because it adds a cohesive element to the black of the bench and the pattern on it flirts with the green and other warmer tones of your style.
Ooh I love me a bit of organisation. And I also return to a room repeatedly when I've updated something. It doesn't even need to be a big change. I bought a cake dome at the weekend and keep wandering back into the room to admire it. I liked rug 18. To me it was the most striking. Nit that the others weren't nice too but speaking from experience, bold coloured rugs or carpets show every bit of fluff and I'm not a fan of vacuuming more than necessary. There was one rug you mentioned you liked but it was on the small side. You could always layer it on top of another rug but that depends on everything else in the room. Thanks for sharing an update. Its great to see your place develop
Hey Paige - imho, the chairs are great (nice lines, defined character) and I hope you end up keeping them. To counterbalance (in harmony) your evident love of grids, the MCM “ball” rug is neat: creates flow/movement and its organic lines marry well with your softer decor elements along with the curved edges of your pair of chairs.
I got analysis paralysis with the rugs because I liked lots of them too so unfortunately can be no help there 😂 But the piece of paper in the drawer to measure makes so much sense I didn’t think of this! Everything looks really good, love this series. I haven’t had a dining table for a year because I haven’t found “the right one” so perhaps this is my cue to just buy something cheaper as a placeholder (I have been eating off camping table and chairs for a whole year lol).
Are you me? Exact same situation, but I eat standing at the kitchen counter. I have a huge space in my living/dining room to fill with a nice table and 6 chairs.
I feel your pain! I have a slightly smaller space so looking for a round table with 4 chairs. But my friends come around and they keep asking when table is coming and I keep saying sorry I haven’t found the right one 😂
Cut textured shelf liner (Dollar Tree) to fit drawers then sit bins on top; the bins will stay in place better. If you can’t find rubber liners, cut to size peel & stick contact paper (also from Dollar Tree) with sticky side UP, then add bins. The sticky side will collect crumbs & debris over time making refresh as quick as discarding old & replacing with fresh paper as needed.
I know there is pattern on the chairs and coffee table, but it's so small, they really read as solids. I think you need a rug with a large pattern to contrast with the big blocks of furniture and also something lighter to contrast with the black coffee table. I know you're not a fan of the fast ship stores, but examples of what I'm thinking are the Pollock Flatweave rug from Rejuvenation or the Zigzag Sketch rug from West Elm (it's my fav of the 2 for your space). They both have the lines you were looking for ;)
Rugs number 14 & 16 seem right for your space. I especially love number 16. So many good colors! 18 is really cool too. Just not as much color which would also work really well! 😊
Love no. 18. And agree with others saying, you should try to change sites of the sofa and the chairs. The pieces that you own are great. Wouldn't sell them.
rug #8 would be my pick to go along with everything else you’ve got going on! I think the blue would be an interesting accent, without adding too much pattern to distract from other key moments, and without being too plane jane.
7, 10, 16, 17 or 18 are my favourites and seem like they would all work with your furniture. Your place doesn't look like it has any red in it onscreen but maybe it does? Red doesn't seem like it would go with your sofa. LOVE how the ottoman bench looks now with the new fabric, great job!
I dig how the fabric of the bench plays off of the freí place tiles-it’s almost the reverse of the little bits of black on white of the tile. And now I need new organizers in my kitchen drawers ❤
I personally love rug #14. the most! It's simple enough that you'll be able to easily have lots of other patterns in the space, but is multi colored and can tie in with a variety of decor around the room. #13 is a close second, I just wish it was a different color than navy because I tend to prefer black or brown over navy
17 and 7 are my favorites. The ottoman looks great! I love how the whole place is coming together. You've probably heard this tip for removing labels, but I heat up the labels with a hair dryer. I first tried it about a year ago, and now I derive great pleasure from peeling them off.
I love rugs 13 and 18 for the living room. Both are a darker palette, the squares in 13 could be kind of a fun but not direct correlation to the squares on your ottoman. The overall neutral and dark color in 18 could be nice for grounding everything and not competing with the colors you have already have in the furniture. I wish I lived in Cali because I’d love to scoop up those chairs for my living room. Such a great shape and cozy vibe.
10,12 and 14! loved the organisation! and i totally get you about the keep going back just to look - this is also me when i get a new bag and play around with packing cubes and how much i can fit - SO satisfying. the ottoman looks great!
You can put a dab of museum putty on the bottom of the acrylic bins to keep them from sliding around. It gives the illusion of a perfect or custom fit.
Personally love rugs 3, 13 and 18 most! But I would vote for 18 for the space. It brings some curves to the space which has lots of rectangles and squares everywhere. And love the mid century vibe with a little Asian flair bc those “balls” look like lanterns to me 🏮
I love 3 7 14 18 I think 18 would be my pick, especially with the black bench and all of the straight lines you have in the space, it adds an organic feeling you might get from a plant or art, while also still feeling structured and interesting
9, 13 or 18 are amazing!!!! really liking the red vibes with the colors you have in your living room, but seriously anything you choice will be beautiful!
13 is my favourite, followed by 18. Both feel unique and complimentary in your space. Have you tried making a rough moodboard with the rugs you like in the room?
The green rug with beige and black stripes is gorgeous! Get them to make a custom in different colours. But something blue or green will look amazing with your furniture. Also love the reupholstering, and would keep those armchairs if I were you. They look so comfie and they pair really well wit your sofa and ottoman. Good balance to have a sofa facing two chairs.
I also think that 2 sofas and an ottoman that is the same size may look too cluttered for the space, and just add more "large rectangles"

exactly what I wanted to suggest! those chairs are great, they just need a little more room "to breathe", which is on the opposite side. they can then even be separated with a little side table in between them. plus, as a personal preference, I'd feel more comfortable laying on the couch facing the door, rather then having them behind me.
Two chairs facing a couch, as you have done, is classic. I really like it. Vote for keeping it as is.
Rug 18 is my absolute fave. Took my breath away! It's neutral enough for likely any furniture, good mix of dark and light. Totally geometric too, adding just a little extra to tie in all the other subtle geometric prints
Totally agree!
That was my fave as well!
same came to the comments to find this

I loved rug 13!!! I think it would go so well with the pink/tan undertones in your couch and if u keep the chairs, it would contrast the greeny tones in the chairs really well too
Also a big fan of 13. It fits in the space without feeling too obvious.
I love the chairs, they look so comfy, better than a sofa x
Agree, I have all chairs, more cosy and comfy ❤️

Agree #13

Hands down, rug #13 is gorgeous. It’s a unique rug that you are going to be able to style in many homes to come.
I agree that replacing those two huge chairs with a sofa is in order. Seems like all that currently is just too big for that small area.
I was about to say the same thing. Love the chairs but maybe not for this space
Yes! I love the chairs but with the 2 bar stools so close behind them it’s a bit much. I think a couch there would create a lovely flow and pull it all together 💖 Alternatively could try swapping the couch and chairs to see if that helps
Yes, but which sofa? I don’t think she could find another matching sofa and finding one that doesn’t feel mismatch/college dorm would be difficult.

Yes!!
Took the words right out of my mouth.
Oh for sure 😁

Dollar store or Walmart for containers. Also by the clear sticky dots to hold them in place. Love your kitchen, so cozy!
Rug 16 and 17 are probably my faves out of the bunch. They stand out in a cute way.
Rug 18 is soooo nice, you have to get it, it’s so unique but in a subtle way that won’t turn into an eye soar in the long run.

Yaaay Paige posted!! 🎉🎉 Love a home update
Number 18 for sure! Loving that midcentury look and would go great with your furniture. Runners up for me numbers 14 and 16.
These were my choices too!
I love that last rug! (18) It’s a unique pattern and is dark like you wanted!
I love the bench! In this lighting it looks dark blue instead of black and I think that dark blue would fit PERFECT!

Arvin Olano just did a rug collaboration with alot of geometric shapes. They were really nice. Another option to check out.
The only rug I really liked was #17. Whatever you choose, it’s going to look good.
Loved the fabric choice and how it's all coming together. Been binging your videos all day, and love seeing you build your own space!

PS - maybe a tiny side table in between the chairs to open things up a bit….?
The new upholstery makes that ottoman shine 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
The sticky side will collect crumbs & debris over time making refresh as quick as discarding old & replacing with fresh paper as needed.
omg rug no. 18!!
+ I feel the place needs some more modern vibes to break off the strong mid century feeling like something chromed and fun idkk
They both have the lines you were looking for ;)
#18 looks like lanterns to me. It's amazing!
Rug 18 would look good with the couch and ottoman. Love the chairs, but they are too heavy for the space.
13 and 18 I think are maybe best for your space based on what I know of your living room - excited to see what you choose!!!
your vibe is extra nice in this video, so laidback and relaxed
And now I need new organizers in my kitchen drawers ❤
rug #13 is my fave for your space, feel like the colors would be good with the palette of your apartment so far!
All in on rug 10, plays off the square geometrics in the fireplace/reupholstered bench and adds some warmth with the red to compliment the brown couch
I hear you much better now. That fabric looks much better than the velvet.
I personally love rug #14. the most! It's simple enough that you'll be able to easily have lots of other patterns in the space, but is multi colored and can tie in with a variety of decor around the room. #13 is a close second, I just wish it was a different color than navy because I tend to prefer black or brown over navy
A lot of the rugs are super cool. I think #13 and #17 would actually work well with your furniture and tie the room together.
#13 I think fits the vibe without being too close to the other colors you’re using.
Agree 😊 didn't know how to explain my choice, you put it right
17 and 7 are my favorites.
I have been collecting the vintage wood and stainless Eldan silverware set from Japan for my new home, and I absolutely love this set.
rug 13 !! would have to see how it works sizewise & with the furniture, but on itself it's a gorgeous piece
10,12 and 14! loved the organisation! and i totally get you about the keep going back just to look - this is also me when i get a new bag and play around with packing cubes and how much i can fit - SO satisfying. the ottoman looks great!
I live for those montages at the end. Also top three rugs: 13, 17, 18
Really love 13 and 18, you have such great taste, love the recovered table, fabulous ❤️❤️
18! Oooh, and fabric looks classic! 👍
LOVED this video. Would totally buy those chairs if I lived near you. Gorgeous ottoman, what a neat idea.
The pops of yellow on the bench are so cool
You can put a dab of museum putty on the bottom of the acrylic bins to keep them from sliding around. It gives the illusion of a perfect or custom fit.
I love that new piece in the middle and the new fabric. I do think you can replace those chairs with something better.
Hey Paige! I like rugs 10 and 15.
A tip for your rolls, keep them in your fridge so they last longer! :)
Personally love rugs 3, 13 and 18 most! But I would vote for 18 for the space. It brings some curves to the space which has lots of rectangles and squares everywhere. And love the mid century vibe with a little Asian flair bc those “balls” look like lanterns to me 🏮
10 , 15, and 17 rugs are my favourite. I like a rug with a pattern that gives your eye something to look at.
Some space, some depth.
I love
3
7
14
18
I think 18 would be my pick, especially with the black bench and all of the straight lines you have in the space, it adds an organic feeling you might get from a plant or art, while also still feeling structured and interesting
Paige we the safe fridge-you can totally move the shelves around if you want to display the pretty acrylic bowl!
11, 13, 16 are my favorite rugs, honestly all of them were really nice. Curious to see your home completely done🫶🏼
I loved rug number 18 too! Interesting pattern and neutral enough without being boring.
I like the burgundy and navy rug , and I did like most of them really.
If you can find some rubbery mats or fabric that grips, you can line your kitchen drawers and the containers won't slide around.
