Huge thanks to Mr NerdDragon for helping out with writing the video as I was busy with exams, he is an awesome guy and did an awesome job! Also this video has timestamps so check em' out: Chapters: 00:00 Introduction 00:56 Arkay the God of Life and Death 02:35 Altmer / High Elves 05:33 Imperials 07:48 Argonians 10:55 Bosmer / Wood Elves 14:58 Khajiit 19:18 Redguards & Yokudans 23:06 Bretons 26:00 Orsimer / Orcs 29:47 Nords 34:18 Dunmer / Dark Elves
The reason the storm cloak solider interrupts his own last rights is because she calls them the 8 divines, rather than the nine, that's why he uses the words "for the love of talos let's get on with this" it was one last act of rebellion against the white-gold concordant and thus the empire that is executing him 😅
I have a feeling that Orsinium will play a huge part in TES VI, and the Orcs will have their own quest line of things you can do to gain their allegiance, and you will get to visit the ashen forge
If it's set in high rock I don't doubt it, and I'm sure there will still be plenty of tribes spread throughout the area. Hopefully high rock is as massive as it should be without lacking content given the time they've been developing it, as long as it's been since the last game it better be a massive upgrade though I get the feeling it won't be with starfield and how the games have slowly regressed
I’m sure someone has already mentioned this but the mourning wars are 100% inspired by the mourning wars of the Iroquois/haudenosaunee/Algonquin speaking peoples of North America who carried out very similar types of wars against their rivals
Whoa your laptop died while making a halloween themed video about death? Thats irony right there. Always glad to watch a new lore video from you though :) I love how you always go into such intricate detail and really dig deep into the lore and sometimes even beyond that, into the speculation. Awesome work as always.
Another awesome video! Your lore videos are always super informative and enjoyable. I would love to hear more if you do a part 2 about other groups, such as the Skaal, although I don't know how much lore is even available about their specific traditions. Thanks again to you and Mr. NerdDragon!
yknow, i wonder what happens to races that follow other traditions. like if a dunmer were to be raised by nords and their culture, would they go to atherius/sovengard? or would they remain a spirit in tamriel? or a khajiit who followed bosmer customs? with the daedra its relatively easy to explain that they go to that specific plane of oblivion or smth (like hircines hunting fields or apocrypha) and easy to explain the dragonborn (i at least believe akatosh just claims the soul) but with races following other religions and traditions from either converting or being raised in it its *very* interesting to me
It's a god thing, not a racial thing. Like anyone can end up in a Daedra realm if they sign a deal with them. There's definitely a godly hierarchy determining where an individual ends up after death, with daedra taking the first spot
Incorrect. Morality is taken into account by Shor. The greatest warriors In Sovngarde still need to have Nordic standards of honor. Honor is absolutely taken into account. Otherwise you'd be seeing thousands of random different Bandits everywhere.
Like the nords are racists, but so is everyone in Tamriel. The high elves are on another level, they genuinely believe only the bosmer are close to them but still inferior, everyone else are treated as babies they feel the need to control and they aren't afraid to genocide them
Could you plz make a video covering the lore added in the by the new skyrim board game? Heard it has new lore about the Great War, Civil War and Dawnguard. Thanks.
What do you mean by new Skyrim board game ? I haven't followed much on new Elder Scrolls content lately, but I do know of TES Legends, a card game containing a lot of lore from the great war and I know ESO added some new card /board game, but I haven't played it. Is there any other ?
@@ImperialKnowledge You should make a Last Dragonborn, Vestige Eternal Champion and Hero of Daggerfall lore videos like the Hero of Kvatch, Nerevarine and Fugitive lore videos. Also, both the Eternal Champion from Arena and Hero of Daggerfall from Daggerfall are Breton Knights and the Last Dragonborn and the Vestige are Nord warriors in canon.
Watchin the section on the Nords it came to me what if the Dragonborn mantles Talos and finishes the dragon crisis and after that reconquers all of Tamriel and we start as a random soldier in his Army who is there durin his conquest of the summerset isles or at the very least we assist the Dragonborn in the final story mission to do what I've said above that would be amazin to put it lightly
It would never happen in a game, the player character must always end up in a state where they are either not in a position to be explained further in later games, or they are unrecognizable in future games. For example, the player character of morrowind went to Akavir, and thus will no longer have to be explained. The player character of Oblivion became the current iteration of Sheogorath, thus they can no longer be recognized or elaborated upon.
@@suckadoesstuff7095 often, at least when it comes to ambiguity of what happens to thr player character past the end of the game. This really isn't as good a comeback as you thought it was, since there hasn't been a single bethesda RPG where they gave any more context to a player character past their own game, and there is nothing to suggest that they will start to do so
What if sovnegarde was a type of prison for those, with either good or bad intentions, killed a lot or died doing violent things which might actually be frowned upon, so it's an eternal place where these people do what they want to do. Some of them wouldn't care if it's a prison or not that is dressed up as a glorious afterlife, and so it for whatever reason filters out different types of nords in the after life.
I would argue it is much more common for nords to cremate their dead, at least in ancient times. Nordic tombs are filled with burial urns, almost always containing money, and sometimes jewellary. Only the greatest people and their servants/warriors were intered in the tombs
It's likely ancient nord used those as gifts of some sort rather than ash burial, I doubt ones saw it as a good thing to not be interred as a warrior within the tombs we see, and given how many draugr are around it would be odd if it wasn't most of the Nord population. If you think there should be more, they died in battle and couldn't be interred for some reason
I once find talos pretty cool, but then i heard the Genocide he done to the altmer to make the empire of tamriel. He is no god for me when cruelty makes you a god.

An Orc woman with a thousand Orc husbands is surprisingly fitting
Thank you for once again reaffirming my belief that Tamriel is a living hell.
I like to think in es the phrase lazy bones is a bosmer one with regard to their attitude towards necromancy
Ah, so this is what happens with J'zargos enemies
I've always wondered if the dark brotherhood did anything special for their funerals
mass cremation
Will you do video about lore from minor TES games like Shadowkey or Redguard ?
Very good video and info! Thanks!
Yay a nice long lore video thanks !
Sounds like black soul gem trapping evil nords should be a noble task.
So when Hadvar told Ralof he hopes the dragon sent him to Soverngarde, he basically said: "I hope your death is painful and you get eviscerated."

Awesome video!!!
Fascinating video
Awesome 39 minutes!
I've only just discovered you're from the Netherlands! I'm from the UK but my fav music genre originates from there :)
Love the videos keep it up.
So Soverngard is full of the second best fighters? Should I feel bad for the warriors to skilled to be killed in combat?
"For the love of Talos shut up and lets get this over with" if he wasnt an impacient heaten that stormcloak might have escaped
Heathen? Talos IS a god and the elves banned him because they believe talos being a god is wrong because they're giga racists
Like the nords are racists, but so is everyone in Tamriel. The high elves are on another level, they genuinely believe only the bosmer are close to them but still inferior, everyone else are treated as babies they feel the need to control and they aren't afraid to genocide them

Interesting, since i play as an khajiit in my gameplay
Throughout Aetherius and Nirn, I alone am the honored one.
Bit strange that your laptop died on Halloween, whilst making a video about death!??
Its a conspiracy of the deep Todds
Does anyone know the name of the soundtrack from the dunmer section, it’s peaceful to listen to
Dope video concept

So that's the real reason why I can't soul trap ulfric, he got a blessing from Arkay before battle.

The afterlife of Trinimac-worshipping orcs sounds more appealing than the ashen forge
Hello
Orc male afterlife: partying, drinking, seggs, etc
Orc female afterlife: ?
conclusion: pride month has nothing in comparison to the Orismer afterlife
