I use whats called Texas toast it is very thick bread and you only need 1 slice and that half and half creamer instead of regular milk if I happen to gave some on hand. I use that half and half on so many things instead of milk when cooking as it makes a big difference, especially in instant mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, cream soups etc

I tried it. It was delicious! I just had some for lunch. Unless you like soggy bread, do NOT douse it in the egg mixture as long as she did! I dipped my 1st piece. Then, I added thw other piece of bread on top, then doused in mixture together. I did not douse them separately or keep pushing the mixture into the bread. That's how it'll become soggy. My FT was buttery & lightly crispy on the outside. The inside was light & fluffy! Give it a try!

I’m thinking those eggs & milk in the center of the two slices is still raw. If you want fluffy French Toast, you take those same ingredients put them in a blender on high speed for a minute, put the mixture in a bowl then dip both sides of each slice into the mixture then fry both sides of each slice separately. This is how they’re made at the Ritz Hotel. Also, for the fluffiest omelet ever, do the same to your eggs (putting them in a blender) then pour into a pan and add your meat and veggies. The lightest, fluffiest omelet I’ve ever had - and it’s even better if you want a omelet of egg whites only. ❤

not bad. one of my go to breakfast dishes.
personally, i prefer to use Pumpkin Pie Spice instead of Cinnamon, and some folks like to add Vanilla Extract, but i add Orange Extract to the eggs.
just before the toast is finished i add another tab of butter to the pan, and then add the syrup to that. while the syrup is caramelizing (this happens almost instantaneously) i flip the toast to coat it. plate the toast and drizzle the remaining butter and syrup onto the toast.
the combination of Orange and Browned Butter flavors, the slight crunch the caramelized syrup adds to the fluffy texture inside, and the beautiful glaze, IMO, elevates this dish considerably.
using Brioche, Panettone, Pumpkin or Raisin Bread, will also yield a great result. also, if using real Maple Syrup one way to conserve on the amount that you use of this often pricey ingredient is by adding it to the pan rather than pouring it on once the the toast is plated.
i understand that this is meant to be a "simple" recipe, but one way this dish can be elevated even more is to first saute some Apple slices for a garnish/topping, and substitute Almond Extract for the Vanilla or Orange.
if its brunch/lunch time, put a slice of Ham or Turkey, or both, between the slices which gives you a Monte Cristo style sandwich.
    ☮❤🙏

A twist on this that yields fantastic results is using either Brioche bread or Japanese Milk bread. Since both come in a loaf, you slice the bread to be as thick or thin as you like. Great insight into customizing the recipe! I hear you on the challenge of ensuring the insides are fully cooked with two slices of bread. Your solution of using Brioche or Japanese Milk bread and slicing them to your desired thickness is brilliant. It allows for better control over the cooking process and ensures a fantastic result.
And your idea of using sour French bread or baguette for French toast is a game-changer! The sourness adds a unique and delightful flavor twist. It's always exciting to discover different bread varieties that can elevate classic recipes.
On a related note, discussing different flavors, I've personally found a couple of positive aspects of the keto diet that contribute significantly to health and physical well-being. Firstly, the sustained energy levels throughout the day are remarkable - no more energy slumps. Secondly, the improved mental clarity and focus have been a noticeable improvement. These aspects, coupled with creative recipe variations like yours, make the keto lifestyle quite appealing. Thanks for sharing your tasty twist and contributing to the joy of cooking! 🍞🍳✨

I rarely let my bread soak in the egg mixture for that long, unless I'm making overnight french toast. You'll burn and overcook the outside by the time the inside is cooked properly, in my experience. Also, why crack the eggs right on the counter and get germs everywhere rather than cracking them on the side of the bowl? Just making extra clean up work.

That just looks like a way to have it soggy in the middle. I've been making this since I was 8 years old and the only recent change I've made is that I put the syrup on the plate and warm it 15 or 20 seconds in the microwave.
I met a lady at a party who told me she puts ketchup on it. 😳 I left the room.
