This was to show how much stronger the Z warrior got after their training. Which means Yamcha,who is the weakest human fighter in the Z warriors, is at a minimum a casual moon buster. That alone would make him God tier in a lot of anime.

There is a difference with portraying something and encouraging it. Being discriminated is part of Yami's history. It adds depth to his character and it ties into how he runs his squadron.
