Revolution is my name is basically a song about Phil Anselmo, who is born in 1968 - and his years growing up and now sees himself as part of the revoultion. The video has noticible nods to both Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, ZZ Top and Kiss. Pantera started out as a glam-metal band back in 1981 and often wore Kiss makeup on shows. After the end of Pantera there was Damageplan, with borth Dimebag and Vinnie - worth listening to! Sadly only one album, until Dime was shot on stage. After that, Vinnie Paul joined HELLYEAH!, also a band worth listening to!
He's also got Mick Jagger's photo on the wall of his "childhood" room.
As a metal head who was born in 68 and grew-up on the same music as they did, this is awesome. ( I also did the KISS make-up as a kid)
Dimebag was a member of the KISS Army in his youth.

Ugh...still remember the day, had to call my ex girlfriend at the time even though I was with someone else. Some things are too important.
I remember my dad coming down stairs and waking me up and telling me. I woke up in disbelief like wtf. " That guitar player you like from that band you listen to, Dimebag, he was killed last night. It's on TV". Jumped up. Went upstairs to see what the fuck he was talking about then I saw it on TV. Still it makes no sense to me. The only other time my dad woke me up like that was on 911. Fucking crazy. I'm not afraid to admit Ive straight up cried many times about it over the years.
I had too much homework to go to the show that night, but I live less than two miles away from Alrosa Villa. I was in high school and had already seen several bands there before that night. Never been back and never will.

Pantera was wild. They were known for all their partying and drinking. They were true rock stars and lived up to the rock star life. You guys should watch their home videos called "Watch em go."
But they were never rockstar assholes, everyone who knew them describes them as really down to earth guys who were nice to everyone.

I suggested this to them before. Black Label Society - In This River (Doom Troopin' Live) . Amazing and emotional performance in honor and dedicated to Dimebag. Always give me goosebumps.
I was born in 65 and remember that fall of Saigon in 72.Grew up listening to Kiss, Sabbath and Zeppelin. I'm proud to say I'm still a metalhead playing bass with guys I played with in the 80 s. It's hard to quit. I'm 58 and still banging my head brother.

The music video is 4:06 the real song is 5:15 so they cut off 1 minute 9 seconds from the original song. Most older songs are edited and cut short. The music video quality is better than the CD version though. The intro is legendary you need to hear the full song.
@@joshuamasserant8215 yeah many bands cut any long intros for radio or MTV releases (when MTV still played music). Hell, even "Cemetery Gates" intro was cut in the music video release.

You guys should do Pantera live either "a new level" or "this love". They are both awesome songs. They have slower and faster vibe but very, very good songs. I'm female and I think you girls would love these songs. Ozzfest or Monsters of rock versions from the early to mid 90s

1:54 -- That's one of the things I love about the two of you (ONE of the things, because I love many things about you!); you listen through the whole song and talk about it afterwards. I've tried to look up videos of people reacting to some of my all time favorite songs, and it drives me nuts when they hear 10 seconds of the opening riff, then stop to talk for 5 minutes, and they continue to stop and stop and stop. It makes me wonder how they can even get a real feel for the song that way (I especially hate it when I know that my favorite part of a song is about to start, but then they suddenly stop it again, lol).
But as I said, I just dig the two of you in general. You're fun, full of energy, you're developing a great taste in music ;) and you are both very charming and beautiful! I also love the realness of the videos; even if you get silly and have laughing fits, or stumble with your words, etc., you leave it in as a part of the video and a part of the experience. That makes the whole thing that much more genuine. Thank you for all of these fun videos. Keep it up 🤘

Hello girls: I think somebody in the comments suggested "Cowboys from Hell" by Pantera. I completely agree. This was one of Pantera's most defining songs. Also, when you two return to Metallica, please listen to "Welcome Home (Sanitarium)." If you were a fan of "Fade to Black," then you'll definitely enjoy "Welcome Home (Sanitarium)" because those two songs have very similar musical arrangements. Make sure you listen to the lyrics video; trust me, you won't regret it. ;)

That was them as kids dressed up as kiss, the song is about the evolution of rock and metal, they are the evolution from kiss and black Sabbath, into heavy metal. Metal music in and of it self is revolting against mainstream music. They stick to their classic rock and metal and they will never change their style. Revolution is my name is extreme metal rebelling against mainstream hip hop, pop, rap, they are all about metal.

Gotta love that y’all love this band. Pantera was and is the all time kings. Nay. Gods of metal music. There are tons of awesome bands that made tons of awesome music. But Pantera is the only band I’ve ever heard that doesn’t have a single song I don’t like. Every other band out there has a couple bad songs if not entire bad albums(Metallica). Pantera did not have a single song that hits flat. Mainly cause the master of metal solos of fuckin Dimebag Darrell Lance Abbott in every song.

Love the reaction videos! You should broaden your artist reactions, maybe try Exodus "Bonded By Blood" and they started alongside bands like Slayer, Megadeth, Overkill, etc. a limitless number of bands from the 80's that produced some of the most famous metal songs that are still enjoyed today. And remember lead guitarist from Metallica, Kirk Hammett? He started in the band Exodus.
Or Trivium "A Gunshot To The Head Of Trepidation" who have been influenced by bands like Metallica and Iron Maiden (to name a few) so I can imagine some recent metal would give you an insight of how metal has changed over the years and the era's of music that defined certain generations.
