I know Rachel very well and everything she has said on this podcast is spot on. I’ve known Rach since she was around 16, she was life and soul. I remember her phoning me from her hospital bed in Swansea to tell me about Jack. The woman went through so much. And still went through so much afterwards also. She went through so much I actually nicknamed her Rambo. Born survivor fair play. Luvs ya Rach. Keep up the good work hun.

Just bought the book on the back of this podcast. Brutal story told with such determination. Domestic violence warnings should be on tv adverts funded by the government. There should also be an alternative number than 999 for domestic violence emergencies. Thanks

  • @iloughrey

I initially came across this on Tik Tok and just had to find the whole podcast. How inspirational is Rachel. I work with victim/survivors of domestic abuse and this story very sadly resonates, but getting to hear from a survivor is so powerful. Everything Rachel said about how to change this scurge in society is correct. All the agencies need to make changes, the Government, the Judiciary, the Police, from top to bottom need to make this a priority. The cost to Society is greater than the money needed to be spent. I pray Rachel your story reaches far and wide. God bless you 🙏

Rachel you are a force of nature! I was not expecting to hear that part of your story of what happened to your Son..made me start crying, im so sorry..as a mother with a Son aswell, who's father was also violent towards me, i met him when i was 20, just b4 i turned 30 i had to get out of the abusive relationship, i didn't want my Son, (who was 6 at the time) growing up in that environment. My 30th b/day felt like a weight had been lifted, a new chapter of my life.
You are one brave, strong woman, such a down to earth lovely lady..a Survivor! I used to think i was weak, & why did i put up with it for 10yrs, i was young, loved him, & thought we could be a family, all while working & what he put me through. I also put on an act to outsiders/work colleagues..they would never of known what was going in behind closes doors, like you said it takes alot of strength mentally to put on an act. I know now that i wasn't weak. Im stronger than i think..i am also a Survivor. Thank you so much for sharing your story. ❤

Cane across a clip of the podcast on TikTok and had to come check out the whole thing.
What an incredible woman Rachel is. My heart breaks for her for everything she went through but its lovely to hear she's got a new husband and is moving forward. Incredibly brave of her to speak out on her story.
Also, you did a such a great job of interviewing her. Ive seen so many podcasts where the host claims to have read the book/watched the videos etc and yet its clear they havent. You very clearly had done the research, read the book and you sat there and let her talk without interruption.

I resonate with this story so so much. I lost my son (he’s gone no contact with me and his sister) through something very similar. It’s horrendous and I miss him every single day. I still send him Christmas and birthday cards and message him, but get nothing back! The ordeal this lady has gone through is beyond words. She must be absolutely heartbroken. However, I don’t agree with what she said about women not being as violent!!

  • @kellyalexander1390

What a woman Rachel is! She comes across amazing and a movie should be made . What’s so sad is being that desperate and knowing no one can help her , police know one! So pleased she has now got peace and happiness. I’d like to see her story on another podcast as don’t think the guy interviewing her did a great job and didnt ask her in-depth questions etc. I do believe her running at him holding the gun was her fight for life was so strong and her love for her boys so great she would have fought the devil which he was and won! Good luck to her and her boy as you deserve all the happiness in the world! To all of us who have been in an abusive relationship and to those still going through it you can get out and come through the other side! ❤

I lost my my 26 year old daughter 4 years ago and can’t even express how shattered and lost I am.
There is something inherently wrong with her reaction to the loss of her child, in my opinion.
Out there, is family that lost their son and grandchild and what is the common denominator?
As always, a great podcast, but you need to dig deeper.
    Take care

I defo agree there should be two sides to a story. I agree but think about it,but having the families side, they don’t know the truth of what happened in the life relationship. It will be bias and I feel like I don’t want to get this into a slanging match.
