dont forget to take the gas valve off the old one...those things are expensive i always grab them and keep few in the van ...great for those weekend calls get someone up and running supply house is closed..
Nice job! I might suggest you get a 3/4" threaded f.i.p. hose adapter for your nipple(s) that you use to drain the water heater, so you won't have "leaky leaks" during that part of the process.
Drizzle is from you using a regular 3/4 mip, I think, to a corse thread female hose tip, need 3/4 fip to a 3/4 male (hose) adapter for your drain setup. Hose fittings are more corse than regular pipe threads.
I see people press on type K all the time. Here in north east water service come into the basement and those pros just press a ball valve right on two inches from the wall with no way of easy repair. Bold move if you ask me. I like to have a flare connection (male x flare) and IPS ball valve for easy service in the future.
Type K is the best for pressing since it's thickest even though nobody really uses it since it's more expensive and rather unnecessary for residential work. It's Type M that you need to be weary when pressing, especially old Type M copper. The weak thin wall of the pipe can crush when pressed and leak.

@TC-tw5zk it's not necessarily the quality but big box store heaters are hard to warranty parts for whereas if you buy st plumbing supply you can go right back in to where you bought it and they will have parts ready to go the same day...usualy

What are the chances of having 2 leaky ball valves? In a pinch, if you don’t have a npt x garden hose adapter you can use 2 hose washers or a water flex washer to keep your pump from sucking air. Do yourself a favor and spend 25 bucks on a back support for doing shit like that. I don’t care how young and strong you are you do that for 10-15 years and you’re going to end up like me. I thank god that I’m still able to provide for my family but wish I was a little more careful in my younger days.

When the m12 small 2.0 battery is used and it’s low it tends to screw down the pipe instead of cutting. I’ve noticed that on mine.
@@charliegodinez9655 the battery was low too

We have to pipe the pan to the outside

Would of like to see how you fitted that short piece of copper on that outside valve.

i got a video from maybe 2 years ago where i pressed type m copper and it barely leaked, had to sweat a ball valve on

I just saw a 30 year old AO Smith gas water heater. Thing was from 1994 and still working great without even a corrosion mark on it.
@everythinghomerepair1747 our water heater was from 1992,i replaced it because i got one for free but it was still good
It depends on where you live and your water type. My water heater is 40 year old.
