I know someone has already said this but thank you for the 90 mph test, so many people swing at that speed and they would be the ones going for these more forgiving drivers. Also thanks for pointing out the tendencies of each

Would be interesting to know how the gt2 stacks up vs the usual tsr2 videos where you previously fit your sub 90mph clients and try to get more performance.
I will definetely be trying to do TSR vs GT in both 2 and 3 for sure. Just working about 100 hours per week at the moment so struggling to get as much done as I would like but they will be coming
Great job as always on your content. Breaking down the data and comps we want to see. As to what I think. I have both the G430 10K Max and the GT2, and I actually played both in the same shaft, the Autoflex Dream 7. The 10k from April to June and the GT2 from July 1 to now. They are both very good, and I would have to go back and hit the 10K again, as my swing speed is up ever so slightly from April to now, from about 82-83 to 85 to 87. But the GT2 is just an almost impossible driver set up to beat, I'm getting 205'ish carry and 225 to 230 total. Earlier with the 10k and same shaft, I was getting 185 carry and 198 to 204 total. I am a senior in my upper 60's, so I don't expect the 100 mph, but would love to get to 90 and 215 carry to 240 total.
I just went from a 10* TSR2 to a 10* GT3. I got it with the stock Denali 50g R flex shaft @ 46”. I experimented with a Helium Nanocore 40g with an A flex @ 46” and an R flex at 45.5”. I currently have the 45.5” R flex in the club with the A4 setting. I have a bit of a tendency to turn it over, so I’m thinking of moving the head weight 1 notch to the fade side. I tried the A flex shaft set at C3, it I had a tendency to leave it to the right when I went after one. I’m 71 YO with an 85-86 mph swing speed on good swings. Average drive is 215-220 at 900’ of elevation.
Ross, always enjoy your educational videos I'm a member of that club that enjoys sub 100 mph club head speed demos. I was drawn to your video several years ago by your syrupy rhythmic swing specifically you were doing a video on the Mizuno pro 22 x line up I have to chuckle because recently you seem to be swinging out of your shoes with the new drivers. All good fun. BUT PLEASE don't lose that gorgeous rhythm tempo and timing and synchronization that you possess....hah.
Great video Ross thanks for doing this. Really interesting to see your increase in clubhead speed with the GT given what they said about the aerodynamics in the GT video
Thanks Jack 🙌 yeah definitely quicker head speed, but as I said in all fairness the Ping generally does struggle a bit when it comes to swing speed so will be interesting to see how they compare with the other brands too
Love the speed test...heavier hammer swung the same speed...ball with go farther!!! And to those wondering...the cg wants to line up with the shaft. That's why that ping has added dynamic loft.
I game the tsr3. Thought I’d give the ping g430 10 k a try with all the hype and good reviews. Horrible results for me. Like your testing the ping was a very left bias club for me with low thin strikes. Went back to my tsr3. May give the new gt series a try. Like the look and feel of the titleist drivers better. Great channel. Keep up the great content. 👍
Yeah absolutely, not every driver will be great for everyone which is why it's so important to get fitted. The TSR/GT will be much better for some and the Ping will be much better for others. Just comes down to the player 👌 - thanks we appreciate the support 👍
Excellent video! I've never been able to get along with the Ping, even when I had the Ping ISI driver. The looks and size of the Ping is off putting, as I don't like the turbulators on the top. When I purchased my TSR2 last year, I tried a number of different drivers, but the classic look of the Titleist drivers and the performance won me over. I, too, am looking forward to your review of the Titleist GT2 vs. TSR2 and the 90-100 mph swing speed test.
@@pauldavis8286 thanks Paul glad you enjoyed the video. Yeah the Titleist is definitely a much cleaner and more classic look isn't it. Which would probably suit more peoples eye
I’m the same, never got on with Ping. Tend to be a shallow tinny face, and harder to swing fast. Ability to deliver a square club face at speed is soo important, and the ping isn’t that. Titleist is great - TSR series was superb
Love the comparison to swing speed . 1 question . Do shafts matter . If I was at 90 mph I would be in reg and prob different launch spin to your normal x shaft be nice to see results with a try shat to suit speed
Thanks! Shafts dont really have any effect to launch and spin regardless of speed. I've done quite a few videos testing extreme shafts against each other at multiple speeds if you take a look back through my old videos. But in this test I did swap shaft when I changed swing speed to a 5.5. But as I say in the video, if you also swing 90mph you cannot assume you will get the same numbers that I see in this test. Speed is pretty irreleavnt, it comes more down to how you actually deliver the club. So always make sure you get fitted if you are thinking about changing.
Yeah the 2 model, especially in this GT range now is just such a nice looking driver, both from the top and bottom. But yeah I'm fitting until 7pm 6 days per week at the mo but I'm doing my best to get content filmed and edited too and that's certainly on the list 👍
I’m a naturally low face hitter and have 10k … I’ve noticed a drop off in distance but it is very accurate and forgiving … defo gonna have to try the GT though !
I’m a pretty negative attack angle steep player. At fittings ping and titelist seem to do the best for me. Generally between these two you’re testing , which does better for steeper swingers with around 100mph+ swing speed
I just generally think Ping and Titlesit are king of the woods currently. But others are also great. There isn't any specific head or brand that's best for any given swing speed. Whether it's 80mph, 100mph or 120mph. Really it all just comes down to what works best for that specific player. In fits I find some heads just click better with people for no rhyme not reason. The only way to get the very best fit is to test as much as possible. 👌 But definitely putting in a lot of work on that aoa will make way more difference to distance than any driver ever could 👍
I did my best to try and like the GT2. I have played two rounds with both and spent time on the range. I am a 73yo high handicap player and the 10k just works best for me. The younger players that I play with are enamored with the GT2. They definitely hit it longer. I am more concerned with the forgiveness and in that category the Ping wins. I did have to dial down the GT2’s loft. I was playing it at 9* and the Ping at 9.5*. I appreciate your data driven review.
You my man are hard working bloke...really appreciate the extra data at 90. To me it seemed you had a higher rate of "bad hits/feels" with gt2. Results were not bad, just interesting...and maybe less freq at 90mph? PS high quality vid editing too. Cheers mate.
Thanks Bill. Yeah I have been doing silly hours recently tbf 😂 but I'm sure it will pay off long term 🤞🤞 and yeah I'd agree I probably struck the Titleist worse but got better results. In the 90 mph test there were incredibly close tbf. But again I did find the Ping easier to turn over which for me is just a no go 😂
Thanks Griff. Yeah not sure how much i buy into all the MOI hype. As the 10k Qi10 i dont think is anyhwere near as stable as the Ping. I think Ping just make amazing drivers. Probably not a head to head I'll do tbh as I've just got so many to do
New Sub, I have a Ping 10k, swapped out weight for 25, Linq white R, mph around 90, play in wind, need lower flight, how much distance /forgiveness am I giving up lowering back weight, may trade in for GT2 after this
Thanks for the sub! Shafts only have very marginal effect on launch and spin so I wouldn't spend too much money chasing that through changing shafts. In terms of the back weight it depends how much you lower it by, but when I've done tests previously taking out 4 - 6 grams it doesnt appear to make any difference on mishits at all really.
@@epgolfstudios I haven't even tried the Alta CB 55 R it came in, wonder what difference is?? I put the white Linq R from my Blacked out Cobra ltdx in it, should have gotten fitted 🙄
I wonder if you were able to tee the 10k a little higher how the numbers would change and if you'd catch it more on the center and up. Thanks for the video
I actually find tee height has very little impact on strike height. For myself and obviously I've tested that in hundreds of fittings too. Sometimes it makes a differnece, but more often than not it doesn't. But it certainly would have eeked out a little more distance on average if the strike height would have been higher on average.
Absolutely, I don't really feel the price is much of a factor between these 2 as it's so close. I think generally I find in fittings people just tend to click better with some heads rather than others. So the likelihood is if you weren't for an in depth fitting you would end up hitting one slightly better than the other
My 10k came in at 204g, i probably lost 5-6mph swing speed but ny ball only went down a few mph. You can hit it literally anywhere on the face and it still goes about the same distance. All I need to do is square the face up... Club does the rest.
Interesting you hit the ping thin often. I'm finding the same thing, very unusual. I wonder if the large, stretched back head shape has something to do with it.
Wow, that Max 10k head came in way under spec. My 10k weighs 203 grams, vs. TSR3 I tested at 195 grams. I was swinging the TSR ~2mph faster, but got higher ball speeds and lower spin with 10k. Granted, for whatever reason, i hit the 10k exclusively high of center. I think for somebody with a more neutral or slightly up AOA, the 10k shallow face is an underrated design characteristic. The Titleist drivers all felt very tall to me.
Yes absolutely true when you are building normally but in this test we use a universal adapter system so the adapters on the end of the shaft are exactly the same weight so that won't be affecting the swingweight in this test. But you're absolutely right in the real work the Ping adapter is way lighter, but I think the Titleist adapter is a lot better
@@epgolfstudios i did notice the UNI adapter later in the video, the GT heads seem to be a bit heavier this year, but from the videos I have seen a little less efficient even compared to TSR.
There's a good chance that was strike related from memory of filming this. High vs low strikes make a massive difference to launch, even if it's just a few mm
I had the same shaft in my gamer before it broke but it was a 60tx and D5 swingweight was similar 195g 45.25” Most think since it’s a “counterbalanced” shaft it would be lighter. I game now a TR black 6x with same specs and it’s a D4 haha but no one thinks a ventus TR black bring counterbalanced 🤷♂️
So true. If I'm honest the only true counterbalanced shaft I've ever come across is the VA Nemesys. The Orange they market as counterbalanced but it might be on average 1 swingweight different. So it's only very slightly. And as you say other shafts will swingweight similar or even lighter but not be marketed as counterbalanced. Guess that's just the weird world of shafts and marketing 😂
Kind of a weird comparison to be honest given the difference in CG location between the two drivers. The GT2 has a lower and more forward CG compared to the Ping G430 10K which was designed for max MOI. The GT2 is lower spin than even the TSR2 it is replacing. A more comparable test would have been the 430 Max or even the 430 LST given that it isn't as low spin as the other low spin models out there.
It's the comparable head from a different brand so people will definitely want to know how these heads perform against each other. I've already compared the 10k vs the Max and then the 10k vs the Max vs the LST in another video too
I do normally switch it up a bit as I don't actually have a gamer due to the fact I don't actually play 😂 but in this scenario I thought the slightly counterbalanced effect of the orange would be good for testing with the Ping. But I didn't really get on with it at all 😂 which probably made for a better vid tbf as there were a load of crap shots in there
In this test - are the clubs the same lie angle? I’ve noticed that historically ping standard lie is equivalent to others clubs upright setting. Which is prolly why is goes left more.
I'm not sure it's down to aerodynamics. I've seen TSR3 Vs TSR4 with no discernable difference in SS despite the TSR4 being 8% smaller! I think that 2 mph is down to head weight and swingweight.
@@epgolfstudios OK no probs, it's an interesting one because there are smaller drivers out there that pick up little to no increase in SS. I think your test of the G430 range a month's back didn't have a SS difference between the LST and others.
@@GRIFF22 it seems like you're comparing Ping vs Ping and Titleist it vs Titleist. Ping heads just aren't very aero and Titleist are far more aero. The actual size of the head I don't think has a massive effect it's the actual shape and design of the head more than anything 👌
Aerodynamically a slight difference in speed. Head maybe if one Doesn’t use a counterbalanced shaft. Basically it’s pretty much all BS or marketing. Get what you like.
GT is the best driver that’s out by a mile! Titleist so fast, acoustics are so good, look classic and clean, speed ring for center strike ball speed gains/coupled with VFT (variable face thickness) for better ball speeds on off center strikes while leading to straighter dispersion and reduced fluctuations in spin rate across the face! Titleist literally has out done themselves yet again, and not to mention a two year life cycle! Company is top notch in every category!
The reality is if someone was getting fitted between these 2 it would come down to the player. I wouldn't really say there is a winner tbh. Both amazing drivers.
Absolutely will try and get around to doing TSR vs GT as soon as I can..working about 100 hours per week at the mo 😂 so it's a bit tough but will definitely be coming 👍
In all fairness the Cobra is amazing value as it's a great driver. The Titleist being 80 more than the Callaway, would I pay 80 more if I'm already paying 500? Yeah for me I would pay the extra and go Titleist personally. But the Cobra at 150 less however would be a consideration. If I was minted I'd go Titleist for sure but the value of the Cobra for the performance is hard to ignore.
It’s not really newer is it 😹🤦 the 10K literally came out like what 6 months ago. Plus a really old illegal driver would go further than both of these. So age doesn’t have any bearing on distance.
@@anthonygiuliano6574 yeah but reducing it by like 4 grams will be a noticeable feeling different and really you won't notice a difference in forgiveness
It certainly had an impact on the result of average data yes. But as i said I see it almost every day wherre that Ping creates a lower strike patter than other manufacturers. But honestly both amazing drivers.

New Ping drivers coming out!
You can order a specific loft and head weight. I usually go to a 9.5 loft.
I've already compared the 10k vs the Max and then the 10k vs the Max vs the LST in another video too
How come you were hitting balls with the Diamana GT for the titleist fitting but now switch to 1K orange?
I do normally switch it up a bit as I don't actually have a gamer due to the fact I don't actually play 😂 but in this scenario I thought the slightly counterbalanced effect of the orange would be good for testing with the Ping. But I didn't really get on with it at all 😂 which probably made for a better vid tbf as there were a load of crap shots in there
In this test - are the clubs the same lie angle? I’ve noticed that historically ping standard lie is equivalent to others clubs upright setting. Which is prolly why is goes left more.
Yes the Ping 10K and the GT range of drivers both have a lie angle of 58.5*
Titleist need to have a matt black finish. It's really shiny and shiny is a distraction on a sunny day.
Both look great, but that price!
Yeah it's not cheap but there's only like £20 price difference betweeen these 2 drivers.
More interested in TSR2 vs GT2. You'll get a free 100k+ views from that video without a doubt.
@@enzy6434 I'll hold you to that 😉😂 but yeah it will be coming
I'm not sure it's down to aerodynamics. I've seen TSR3 Vs TSR4 with no discernable difference in SS despite the TSR4 being 8% smaller! I think that 2 mph is down to head weight and swingweight.
I'm assuming you missed the part where I added head weight to the GT to test that theory
Head maybe if one
Doesn’t use a counterbalanced shaft.
I am going to make prediction before I watch the vid. The newest driver(sponsor provided) I meant GT wins..
The reality is if someone was getting fitted between these 2 it would come down to the player. I wouldn't really say there is a winner tbh. Both amazing drivers.
My 10k head weight was 206g. Wtf
Same as in this test..
Wasn’t yours 196?
Would love to see you do a comparison between TSR3 and GT3 … that’s gonna be epic!
Absolutely will try and get around to doing TSR vs GT as soon as I can..working about 100 hours per week at the mo 😂 so it's a bit tough but will definitely be coming 👍
My Darkspeed LS got me 300 carry 335 total with the 4th gen black HZrDUS in 6.5.
Solid
Darkspeed LS would blow them away but he gives it no love 😊
So with the GT being the most expensive club out there, it's really not worth the extra money compared to Darkspeed or Callaway TD.
The Titelist looks and sounds way better.
Is anyone seeing their scores drop?
Ones longer the other straighter. Trade off
So there is no reason to buy gt if you’re well fitted for your driver.
There's no reason to change driver at all if the driver you currenlty have is very well fitted to you, absolutely.
Of course the newer driver goes father. Some TH-cam channels are worse than the manufacturers!
It’s not really newer is it 😹🤦 the 10K literally came out like what 6 months ago. Plus a really old illegal driver would go further than both of these. So age doesn’t have any bearing on distance.
I got a ping 10k.. have to sell it.. feels wayyy too heavy
Yeah stock off the shelf the swingweight can be super heavy. It's rare I fit them with a stock length shaft.
@@epgolfstudios I thought about buying a lighter back weight but at that point.. the whole point of the ping is 10 k and it won’t be 10 k anymore
@@anthonygiuliano6574 yeah but reducing it by like 4 grams will be a noticeable feeling different and really you won't notice a difference in forgiveness
So it was your ability to hit the GT2 higher made the difference… 🤔
It certainly had an impact on the result of average data yes. But as i said I see it almost every day wherre that Ping creates a lower strike patter than other manufacturers. But honestly both amazing drivers.
why do you let the club go, 2 hands bro, it looks shit using 1 hand, wont subscribe till you use 2 hands
TH-cam comments continue to surprise me 😂
Hi Ross as someone who swings in low 90s, hits down on it and cones across it, what heads are you looking at to help. I know lessons but something that might get me there a bit faster ,😩🫣🤣
Hey Craig....short answer....no 😂 sorry mate, that's all swing that one so get some lessons and get grinding 👊
Ah man come on 🤣🤣 I'm 50 tomorrow throw me a present 😂 why's best on heel strikes then lol
@craigtalbot9316 well happy birthday 😂👍 prob Ping I’d say, either Max or the 10K
@@epgolfstudios thanks mate keep up the good work 😉
@@epgolfstudios much difference in max and the 10k would you say?
