One of my favorite things about this movie is the sound cues.. like when Miles realized he was in the wrong universe this eerie music plays.. I love it.
Personal opinion - I dont want to call Earth-42 Miles 'evil' just yet. In Beyond, I think Spot will still center as the villain, but I think Earth-42 Miles will serve as a perfect foil as a reflection of who Miles could be. I feel like they're going to learn a lot from each other. I think there's still some humanity in Earth-42 Miles from what we've seen - he's got Uncle Aaron on his side, he must've been the one who put up the graffiti to honour his dead dad, and his mum still cares for him. So I think there's a possibility of them learning to understand each other to some extent, even if they have different ways of doing things, because at their core they are still Miles Morales.
I wonder if the Prowler of that Universe is their only sort of superhero-esque defense against the Sinister 6 Cartel mentioned in the movie. Uncle Aaron mentioned some sort of heist plan so I am wondering if They cut some sort of deal to get miles back to his universe in exchange for helping them pull off the job.
I was really in shock when it was revealed that Miles was in the wrong universe, not just for the surprise, but because of how smart it was revealed given the machine that send Miles being based on the spider that bit him. As soon as Prowler of Earth-42 showed up I instantly though that was Miles and I was right. Perfect movie.
My personal theory about the third film is that perhaps Miles is going to fight the prowler version of himself, and with the help of Gwen’s spider team, he’ll make his way back to his home universe and try to fight the spot and prevent his father from dying. The twist from here I believe, would be that maybe they’ll have a moment where he saves his dad from dying but by focusing on his dad, he leaves his mom unprotected and she ends up dying as a casualty of said fight. I noticed they focused on his mom a little bit more than they did with his Dad, they gave her those more significant and emotional scenes compared to Miles’ dad. So my theory is she will die, Miguel Ohara might let Miles’ go and say it was a mistake and that there was a shift in canon they couldn’t expect or foresee, that some outside force is tampering with Miles’ story, enter Kang?? I say Kang loosely because I doubt they’ll have Miles’ show up in Secret Wars but yk, you never really know. It’s wild guessing but yk.
They give you all the hints through both movies to guess the events for Beyond the SpiderVerse someone has to take the place of the Canon event. when Peter Parker died in miles universe the anomaly should have destroyed that universe but it didn't because miles was there to take peters place or when captain Stacy quit in Gwen's universe someone else took his place it's like back to the future part 2 rules where a new timeline opens. So I believe the Canon event will happen in miles universe but instead of his dad dying Gwen will take his place and die that is why she has more screen time in this movie and it would be her redemption like Andrew in no way home.
SPOILER: I was absolutely heartbroken 💔 when Spider-ham returned and killed everyone at the end. Truly emotional moment that I will forever remember when he said, “this just got weirder” 😢
Only thing I could think of when Miguel called Miles an anomaly/an accident was Master Oogway. “There are no accidents” Peter taking that leap of faith with MJ happened because of Miles. Gwen’s only friend since Peter’s death was Miles. Those aren’t accidents to them. Gwen opening up the film and closing it was just gold.
This whole movie was an event. I can’t even describe how I felt watching it, it was so amazing. I loved that this was just as much Gwens movie as it was Miles. I can’t wait for Beyond the Spider-Verse this is shaping up to be the best CBM trilogy
It's not her film, It's Miles film. He's the main lead of all the films. The main story was not done. Gwen side arc was done like peter b side arc was done. Part 1 co-lead peter b , Part 2 co-lead gwen, part 3 co-lead could be miles of 42 earth or someone else
I believe Hobie gave miles the cold shoulder at first by having heard alot about him from Gwen and knowing her feelings towards him not being convinced with him at first. Obviously because of the way he cares for Gwen. But once he redeemed himself in Mumbattan following the; "Man like miles, my guy!" scene. He approves of him, he's worthy of his "little sis" Gwen and starts looking out for him.
I’m really glad they also touched more of Gwen and Miles relationship especially after he pretty much felt betrayed by her but at end I love how Gwen wants to fix everything regarding Miles
sadly, i think their relationship is permanently damaged. sure, Miles will understand why they did what they did but i feel like he wont ever be as close to Gwen, Peter B and Peni like they used to be now. I think Miles will still respect them but wont ever liked them the same way he used to be

If you go back and watch the first movie, there’s a moment where miles go back to check on the spider that bite him. But it glitches in the same way the other spider man’s did. This connects to the twist where it’s revealed it’s from a different universe, the one where miles became the prowler. That’s got be be the best way to connect the two films, right.
When miles meets spiderman for the first time and it does the wavey spidersense lines his are green and purple; whereas, Peter's are red and blue. What is prowlers color scheme? Green and purple.
Also, what is prowlers ethos? "You know me so well. I never quit." Prowler says when talking to Fisk. And what were all the spider beings saying, "we always get back up."
Fun little sequence of dialogue and scenes in the film that really sums up the situation Miles is in. When confront by both his parents and school counselor that he can't have his cake and eat it too, he asserts that he'd just bake two cakes. Later, he picks up two cakes from the bakery, he needed a second cake because he wanted too much written on the first cake (he's doing too much). Waiting for the second cake slowed him down, he had to take public transportation, and he was further slowed down by petty criminals he otherwise wouldn't have been slowed down by. He got to his father's celebration party late and both cakes were ruined. In trying to satisfy both what and others' expectations of him, he struggle, and sometimes fails, in both. A large part of why I feel Spider-Man is so relatable is a hero is because in a lot of his stories, he has to choose "the right thing to do" which, while causing a lot of good, will also cause harm, and he has to get back up and live with that harm while still doing the right thing. Having your cake and eating it too just isn't real, so it's not meaningful, not to us nor to Spider-Man as a character.
By far one of my favorite movies of all time I especially loved miles and hobies dynamic and how I was expecting them to be rivals but instead hobie was more of like a mentor to him in a way
What if the true canon event in Miles’s world is his mother dying instead of his father, and he focuses so much on saving his dad that he doesn’t see the true canon event coming?

I know this might sound weird, but I actually view Spider Man 2099 as the more of the main villain of the story than Spot is. Earlier, when Miguel was fighting Vulture at the beginning of the movie, there was a part where he was about to bite Vulture's neck, supposedly to kill him. Which makes him more different than any other Spider Man because one of Spider Man's rules is that he doesn't kill. Another thing that stands out to me about Spider Man 2099 is when he tells Miles that he's just a kid who was never meant to be Spider Man, but the thing is, that's exactly what Spider Man is, a kid. A boy or girl that starts out in high school who gets bitten by a radioactive Spider, and begins to grow up in their own way along with having these powers, learning what it means to be both a hero and a person. Miguel, on the other hand, is an adult that comes from a kind of desolate future, who thinks he knows better than any other Spider Man, when in fact he is the polar opposite of who Spider Man truly is. I also think that because Spider people are mainly kids, that Miguel kind of took advantage of their childlike naivety to kind of make them believe that there is no other way to stop a canon event. This is all also the reason why I believe Beyond the Spiderverse will be his story, just like Into the Spiderverse was Miles's story, and Across the Spiderverse was Gwen's story. I think the third movie is gonna make Miguel learn the hard way what truly makes Spider man who he is, because when you look at it, the deaths of their loved ones may be their catalysts, but it was ultimately the lessons they taught the Spider people in life that stuck with them. I truly believe that even if Uncle Ben didn't die, Spider Man still could've turned out the way he always did in the main continuity because that's who Peter truly is inside. So I believe it will be Miles and Gwen that teaches Miguel the true meaning of "with great power comes great responsibility." A power so far he has greatly abused.
Miguel has always killed in the comics. He doesn't make it a habit, but he will kill if he deems it necessary. Miguel going in for the kill with Vulture is a nice nod to his original comic run, where he did indeed kill the Vulture in the year 2099. It's actually what made Miguel able to wield Mjolnir in the comics. The hammer has always denied Peter or Miles its powers because Peter and Miles have a "no kill rule". Miguel doesn't have that rule, and Mjolnir deems Miguel worthy of lifting the hammer because of it. The year 2099 is also a very horrible place to live in. Imagine Night City from Cyberpunk 2077, now amp that up to eleven with not only cybernetically enhanced humans, but also human supremacists/mutant supremacists fighting one another due to the Mutant-Human War, with the police force of Nueva York itself being the biggest crime gang in the city. With how the city is, it's a freaking miracle that Miguel only occasionally kills when he deems it absolutely necessary. Most would just say "fuck it" and go in guns blazing like Punisher 2099.
Miguel is not a vampire he just has fangs because he was gene spliced with 50% spider DNA. Also his fangs have non lethal venom that temporarily paralyzes victims.
Correct me if I’m wrong but I do feel that Kim, Gwen, peter B were okay with it because of what they had to endure. Miguel got to them first and I’m sure during that time period (1 year and change), he showed them all how serious something like a potential change to the “canon” can effect everything. I think in an odd way they were really looking out for Miles and not being jerks about it all. Everyone was afraid of getting close to him because they didn’t want him to find out the truth. Let’s be real none of the Spider-Men ever had knowledge of losing important people. By the time a Spider-Man confronted another Spider-Man they were consoling another because they knew what it was like to lose someone. I think Miguel put a lot in perspective for everyone else before anyone ever confronted Miles and we shouldn’t assume they were just okay with it. I think they understood how deep it could go and was looking at the grand scheme of things.
Remember Peter B was there when Miguel found out first hand what happens when you break the canon, he saw that entire universe crumble before his eyes and Miguel lose the one thing he cared about above anything, all because of what he himself did
It’s understandable truly, but you need to understand that from Miles perspective he’s being told that his father needs to die in order for the cannon event to happen. Which from what I understand they basically telling him to sit it out and let it happen which is a shity thing to do. And it doesn’t help that his friends, Peter B, Gwen his love interest. (Hopefully not anymore) didn’t even vouch for him, they forgot the meaning behind becoming Spider man, and that finding the solutions to fix those problems or learn the truth the hard way. And to be honest I’m kinda in Miles’s case, because is really set in stone.
@@kaijukingdom2686 I understand Miles perspective. But it’s what people are saying about Peter B and Gwen “betraying” Miles. It’s not black and white and it’s 100% reasonable of what they did. I know it hurts Miles deeply but I believe it wasn’t out of malice and it was out of love. Gwen seeing how “canon” events can be different first hand with her own father proved to her that what she thought was right was actually worth challenging and that was because of Miles. Her dad quit being a captain right on the spot. He will no longer die.
I truly believe that we will see Miles (Prowler) and Aaron Help Miles (Spiderman) save Jefferson. I feel this could be a great progression for The Characters of Earth-42. Especially since Miles feels he can’t trust anyone else right now

this movie was everything i ever wanted for a spider-man movie. i can’t tell you how i felt while watching this movie, it was so SPECTACULAR seeing how everything unfolded, AND THAT CLIFFHANGER i know it was happening but i didn’t know how it was going to happen and it was so amazing. this movie overall is one of the best movies of this year probably top 3 and I CANT WAIT FOR BEYOND THE SPIDER-VERSE oh and “BAGEL!”
As a drummer who also heard that Gwen was taking up a bigger role in this movie, I got chills and was grinning from ear to ear from that banger of an intro. The visual representation of the drums and Gwen’s side of the first film was perfect. It’s definitely in my list for all time favourite movies
Very surprised that basically no review channel is talking about the moment where Spectacular Spider-Man talks to Miles while all the Spider-People are surrounding him in the central Hub; after finding out his dad is about to die. That was a very cool moment and I'm glad they gave Spectacular Spider-Man some lines and screen-time! Now I just hope the third installment features the 90s The Animated Series Spider-Man (my personal favorite.)

The ending of this movie really gave me Endgame vibes, my whole audience exploded when it said "Miles Morales will return in Spider-Man: Beyond The Spider-Verse" One of the best theater experience I've had in a while after No Way Home and Multiverse of Madness.
Great take on this really being Gwens story arc. Definitely think that's the case, and in that sense, the movie has its resolution. I also never picked up on Spider Punk taking parts from the spider society to create his own watch.
Can we talk about that extremely eerie shot at the end where we see The Spot crawling through to Miles' universe and it's shot through Miles' bedroom and the creepy Spot music plays. Absolutely perfect
The ending though. I absolutely love the hints the movie dropped that Miles is in the wrong universe and I was able to piece it together. So when they actually revealed it I was like "HOLY SHIT!!"
I knew the twist as soon as they mentioned the universe without Spider-Man. It would've been a waste not to show it/make it a relevant part of the film.
its failure of film making far as im concerned as I say filmakers shouldn't make ending sequences unless they intend the credits to roll next. The gazillion endings of The Return of the King irks me to this day.
@@kristjanbirnirivansson528 congratulations you won the award for the dumbest statement. It's called a twist. It's not bad filmmaking. A twist is supposed to subvert expectations. And it never once showed it was about to end. There were moments where someone would probably go wait don't end there. So they had to keep pushing because it didn't feel satisfying enough of a conclusion to a good cliffhanger. Do you get my point?
One thing i can’t get over is how perfectly they portrayed Gwen’s emotions in her world, with the scenery changing its color, the paint dripping down when Gwen portrayed a negative emotion and how bright everything was when she went for a hug, it was great.
I could legit listen to Chris speak about his thoughts on this movie and his theories for the next for hours. My mind is RACING at all the possibilities that could happen in Beyond. But I’d be VERY VERY surprised with Tom not appearing in this at all, if he does not appear and play a pivotal role in Beyond. Because I honestly thought the movie was either gonna end, or show a post/end credit scene of Miles ending up in a Live-Action universe and thats were they left us. But I want to see this movie again so bad. So many scenes and moments that I want to pause for myself. (edit: also Beyond releases next year, probably why the wait was so long is because they wanted to finish both so they could release them kinda like Infinity War and Endgame)
I really like the detail of rio telling miles not to let others tell him he doesn't belong. Then later in the movie Miguel told him he didn't belong and the mindset changed leading to the climax of the next movie. Also if feel like that scene mirrored miles and Miguel. Miles had his crew behind him, so it kind of felt like miles was challenging Miguel for leader of the pack. By the end of beyond, miles will lead the spider people.
One of the best cbm movies ever. I really hope that BTSV will include Superior Spider-Man, Cosmic Spider-Man, Spider-Ma'am, Poison, Spider-Monster, Japanese Spider-Man, Tobey, Andrew, Tom, etc...
One major clue that stood out to me and why I knew something was off in the ending was Mile’s mother’s eyes were green in that world while the whole movie we’ve been staring at her brown eyes in the original universe. That was a slick way to add a subtle difference. This movie was amazing 🙌🏼

Wasn’t a big fan of the first one it was good but this across the spider verse sold me into these movies the animation was beautiful I loved how each impactful character got time to shine

I love the fact that when miles goes to earth-42 the city and style looks different but you still recognize it and when time passes and goes from Gwen to Miguel and back to Miles, the city and the style ends up being unrecognizable
I just realized that Miguel says that Miles is an anomaly and wasn’t meant to be spider man and instead got his Peter Parker killed but in the first film Gwen’s spider sense kept trying to lead her to Miles by telling her to go to his school even before Miles was ever bitten by the spider. I wonder if this will get touched on Beyond the spider verse
The cliffhanger ending really didn't bother me considering the fact that we probably won't have to wait that long. I'm pretty sure beyond is due for March NEXT YEAR. Not sure if it actually will come out then but that's what I've seen around. Loved the review by the way! :))
Everything about this movie was perfect. The story, character development, the animation, the music, JUST EVERYTHING was great🔥 If they’re able to top this one, this may be the greatest trilogy I ever seen. My theory is that Miles will beat the Spot, reunite with his fellow spider-people, and somehow someway, he will end up in the live action MCU.
What got me hyped in a very unexpected way was mcu miles uncle, another thing was seeing ps5 Spider-Man and Tobey plus Andrew. We can’t forget doc oc “hello Peter” The sound track gave me goosebumps
I was just shocked at how many spiders chose Miguel’s side , especially Turino s spider-man . I personally thought he’d want to try and help miles save Jeff , especially after what happened to his Jeff Davis .
I genuinely love the ideological conflict this movie proposes, it confronts the basic elements of the character of Spider-Man, the character is all about sacrifice and suffering fueling his development, but it’s also about saving as many people as possible (look at no way home), so it’s fascinating that they pitted these 2 concepts against each other because they’re at odds, I’m so excited to see how they deal with it
Doesn't the train chase music not sound very similar to a particular track in X-Men dark phoenix by Hans Zimmer, and that movie also had a train scene.
FINALLY SOME BIG TH-camR ADDRESSED IT! The movie opens up with GWEN and ends up with GWEN! HER arc was complete by the end of the movie! What she's about to do, is just the next step she decided to take BUT, her initial proposed arc, IS INDEED finished / complete! Thank you SO MUCH for addressing it!
Seen it today at a 2:00pm time, and it was a packed theater, first of all I really loved this movie but when it ended my whole theatre including me yelled nooooo!! And some guy that was sitting next to me said welp see ya next spider season, overall this movie was phenomenal and I didn’t want it to end
How will Miles react when he sees Gwen again? I think at first Miles will be hesitant but once he sees that Gwen formed a team to go rescue he will rekindle with all of them. What will Miguel do about all of this? My theory is that he’ll fight Miles at least one more time before we see him change sides and he’ll sacrifice himself by stopping The Spot. Also, when Miles said “First Time for everything” Spider-Man will finally get the girl. Miles and Gwen will finally get together
Just saw it last night. The opening with Gwen Stacy and Peter’s death. The anxiety attack from Gwen was amazing. loved the camios in this movie. When Migule was talking about canon events, they showed Tobey, uncle Ben death, Andrew’s and spectacular Spider-Man’s. Then THEY ACTUALLY GAVE SPECTACULAR actual lines and talking to miles. That was actually insane. Camios are cool and all but if you actually throw the character in and have them have an important moment. You knocked it out the ball park to me. And Insomniac Spider-Man’s appearance was funny as hell. It’s funny because we’re actually listing to Childish Gambino’s music days before. THEN he’s actually in the movie.
I actually really like your last theory it makes perfect sense to do that and maybe get some dialog of him being ok being a normal person but still misses the ability and then have a spider bite him and end with him swinging through the city stopping a bad guy and maybe everyone cheering him on
I was wondering hor spiderpunk was able to give gwen a watch because i remember him taking his off when he dipped. That explanation of him stealing the tech helped!😂
The original person that the spider was supposed to bite was the evil Miles Morales. If you check the flashback when they talked about the spider being from another universe, you can see that the kid it was about to bite had braided hair and was Latino. So basically evil Miles only became evil because he never became Spider-Man.
The chase scene at the Spider-Verse hub was one of the most exhilarating sequences I’ve seen in a film of any medium in a long time. What was accomplished in this film defies comprehension.
Spiderman across the Spider verse is really heartbreaking and emotional also that was freaking cool that it showed MCU prowler but it sucks that we are going to have to wait until next year for Spiderman beyond the Spider verse to actually see live action Miles Morales 😭
I love how spectacular spider man came back and his captain stacy also had died if you were paying attention that shows his story is still in complete hope we see him again in beyond
My theory regarding his dad. I honestly believe if someone dies in Miles universe that it would be his mom instead. The focus is so much on his dad dying that he’s going to be too busy worried about that & completely forget that his mom could have the same fate. Being that everything could change & a new canon event is created.
I absolutely loved the film! My only real criticism was that the audio mix was super wonky for me in the first 20 minutes and I'm seeing some others have the same issue

This was Gwen’s story, it started with her saying how she didn’t want to hurt him. It is the telling how she hurt him, ending with how she will now save him.
Just got home from watching, movie is a MASSIVE W, I like how they completed a plot and also started a new one instead of leaving us with an unfinished story, amazing movie, and wait for Beyond
Love your reviews man. Took my 3 year old daughter to see the movie and she loved it! You were right in kids might not be able to stay focused on the movie the whole time because of the dialog, but my daughter really only lost a little focus after the first Spot fight, during Miles dads party till the second Spot fight (so maybe a 15-20ish minute stretch) and then at the very end when Miles was in universe 42 trying to tell his mom he is Spiderman. but other than that, she was glued to the movie and loved every minute of it. The parts she lost a little focus was easily solved with giving her some candy lol. We also went in the morning just to make sure the movie wasn't crowded incase she did talk or wanted to move a little.
This is so much more thought out than I ever couldve imagined it to be, THIS is what happens when you truly spend time to think out a complex plot and show it in a way thats easy to follow. No half-baked plotlines like weve been getting in the mcu since endgame. Movie oty right here ‼‼
My fav part of this movie was the Leonardo di Vinci vulture, 1st I love his design he’s got this old paper type of design and that’s what I like about him And 2nd whatever he’s throws the bombs I like the Leonardo type of description that’s on the bombs when they were thrown.
When Miles was tied up at the end in the background, you can hear on the TV the news broadcaster mention the sinister six I think the prowler is part of the sinister six and will help him in the 2 movie

I love that this movie probably gave us the clearest explanation why this Spider Society will NEVER recruit the live action trio of Tobey, Andrew and Tom. Cause they probably will do the same thing as Miles (1610) and rebel against the "canon" to save the ones they love, no matter what
Cris I know you speak Spanish and it might just be me, but Prowler Miles accent sounds a little thicker than our Miles'. Maybe cause Miles 42 is primarily being raised by Rio now; her voice is influencing a slight variation in the way he speaks with Jeff no longer being around. Wouldn't be surprised one bit with how incredibly deep the details go in this film.

Theory: cannon events just cause catastrophy when someone else interacts with them but when they are resolved by the correct spider-person they are resolve like what happend to Gwen with her father, he didnt die because he resigned and isnt a captain anymore
EXACTLY?! I’ve told all my friends that there’s no way that Miguel knows all the ins and outs of the true nature of the Canons and Gwen’s Dad quitting the force and staying alive only solidified my belief that Miguel only understands the basics of the Canons.
The destiny just decided to hurt them another way, taking something with equal value. Instead of life, Captain Satcy lost his job which is also a big loss. I don't think scenarist will repeat that trick twice(I hope they not) or otherways, drama will not work, just because it's a cheap copypaste.
I think the important resolution to the 3rd movie will be that it's Miles choice to do whatever he does (I think the idea he'll go back in time to prevent his own creation, fixing the life of the spot and preventing the death of Peter is a good guess), not because it's his fate. A huge part of Spider-Man's story is that he chooses to get back up and save as many people as he can every day, even if it costs a personal sacrifice.
I was so blown away when all those Spider people just accepted that these people had to die and do nothing about it, that's why I wish the Peter Parker from edge of time was in this movie because he would've definitely been on Miles side, after he found out that MJ was going to die and Miguel just said no his words which should've been given to this version of Miguel were "what's important is not standing by and allowing someone to suffer or die because you do nothing if you don't get that then you don't get the first thing about being Spider-man", like him Miles and Hobie were more Spider-man like then any of those other Spider people

One of the best movies Ive ever watched. Made you feel a lot. The music, the animation, the story and everything in between. Its a masterpiece and I went in without any real knowledge and the end completely threw me off guard. I wasnt expecting a "to be continued" at all because of how amazing the movie was. I just didnt want it to end.
i think miles won't lose his dad, he'll lose his mom. if no way home taught us one thing is that ANYONE can go. we didn't see an uncle Ben, but we did see Aunt May die. I think it just makes sense for it to be his mom.

And I think having the dad die in 3 would be for their relationship in these two and maybe gwen tries to kill herself and Mike's stops her and the dad as the cop captain would be beneficial to die for protecting miles in saving the spiderverse and gwen and him can stop spot and Miguel together.

I saw the scanner say Earth 42 and I was like, oh, Miles is going to the wrong universe, but then it went on for a while not revealing that and for a second I thought that was a plot they just threw away, but then the ending happened and my mind was just blown
I'm not sold on Miles-42 as "evil". I would be more inclined to believe Miles-42 is his own version of a hero within his own dystopian world, most likely run by Kingpin. With his uncle and him teaming up after the death of his father. I see him right now as a robin hood in a similar style as Ekko from Arcane.

The best movie I watched this year in my opinion the animation was to amazing and my favorite part was the ending with miles seeing the other miles as the prowler tbh I kinda like the prowler miles a little more his look is just to dope
I'm one of the few that DIDN'T know it was going to be a two-part thing... so, while I thoroughly enjoyed every single second of the movie, I walked away feeling like it was 2h of filler and the plot didn't really start until the 3rd act, only to leave us with more questions than answers. The more I think about the movie, and the more I watch stuff on it, I'm quickly coming around. xD Honestly, 1 cameo sealed the deal for me on my love for this film (the countless others were just the icing on top), because of disability representation... Sun-Spider (Earth-20023). They're a non-binary Spider-person with EDS (Ehlers Danlos Syndrome), that uses high tech wheelchairs and crutches as webshooters! The second I saw their mask on the poster I was so excited, but worried they'd be one of the several briefly glimpsed during the spider-people chase-scenes. Nope, they went a step further and gave them dialogue with Miles! (A disability related pun, one that I used quite often, myself. Though, I have a different disability. haha xD)
Btw Miles was in NWH. When Peter get to his new apartment, faintly you can hear Rio tell Miles it’s time for bed 👀. For some reason the English version turns the audio down but in the Portuguese version you can hear her louder
One of my favorite things about this movie is the sound cues.. like when Miles realized he was in the wrong universe this eerie music plays.. I love it.
And then when he meets Uncle Aaron Prowler's theme played. I thought that was a nice touch

Personal opinion - I dont want to call Earth-42 Miles 'evil' just yet. In Beyond, I think Spot will still center as the villain, but I think Earth-42 Miles will serve as a perfect foil as a reflection of who Miles could be. I feel like they're going to learn a lot from each other. I think there's still some humanity in Earth-42 Miles from what we've seen - he's got Uncle Aaron on his side, he must've been the one who put up the graffiti to honour his dead dad, and his mum still cares for him. So I think there's a possibility of them learning to understand each other to some extent, even if they have different ways of doing things, because at their core they are still Miles Morales.

I was really in shock when it was revealed that Miles was in the wrong universe, not just for the surprise, but because of how smart it was revealed given the machine that send Miles being based on the spider that bit him. As soon as Prowler of Earth-42 showed up I instantly though that was Miles and I was right. Perfect movie.

My personal theory about the third film is that perhaps Miles is going to fight the prowler version of himself, and with the help of Gwen’s spider team, he’ll make his way back to his home universe and try to fight the spot and prevent his father from dying. The twist from here I believe, would be that maybe they’ll have a moment where he saves his dad from dying but by focusing on his dad, he leaves his mom unprotected and she ends up dying as a casualty of said fight. I noticed they focused on his mom a little bit more than they did with his Dad, they gave her those more significant and emotional scenes compared to Miles’ dad. So my theory is she will die, Miguel Ohara might let Miles’ go and say it was a mistake and that there was a shift in canon they couldn’t expect or foresee, that some outside force is tampering with Miles’ story, enter Kang?? I say Kang loosely because I doubt they’ll have Miles’ show up in Secret Wars but yk, you never really know. It’s wild guessing but yk.

They give you all the hints through both movies to guess the events for Beyond the SpiderVerse someone has to take the place of the Canon event. when Peter Parker died in miles universe the anomaly should have destroyed that universe but it didn't because miles was there to take peters place or when captain Stacy quit in Gwen's universe someone else took his place it's like back to the future part 2 rules where a new timeline opens. So I believe the Canon event will happen in miles universe but instead of his dad dying Gwen will take his place and die that is why she has more screen time in this movie and it would be her redemption like Andrew in no way home.
SPOILER: I was absolutely heartbroken 💔 when Spider-ham returned and killed everyone at the end. Truly emotional moment that I will forever remember when he said, “this just got weirder” 😢

Only thing I could think of when Miguel called Miles an anomaly/an accident was Master Oogway. “There are no accidents” Peter taking that leap of faith with MJ happened because of Miles. Gwen’s only friend since Peter’s death was Miles. Those aren’t accidents to them. Gwen opening up the film and closing it was just gold.
This whole movie was an event. I can’t even describe how I felt watching it, it was so amazing. I loved that this was just as much Gwens movie as it was Miles. I can’t wait for Beyond the Spider-Verse this is shaping up to be the best CBM trilogy

I believe Hobie gave miles the cold shoulder at first by having heard alot about him from Gwen and knowing her feelings towards him not being convinced with him at first. Obviously because of the way he cares for Gwen. But once he redeemed himself in Mumbattan following the; "Man like miles, my guy!" scene. He approves of him, he's worthy of his "little sis" Gwen and starts looking out for him.

If you go back and watch the first movie, there’s a moment where miles go back to check on the spider that bite him. But it glitches in the same way the other spider man’s did. This connects to the twist where it’s revealed it’s from a different universe, the one where miles became the prowler. That’s got be be the best way to connect the two films, right.

When miles meets spiderman for the first time and it does the wavey spidersense lines his are green and purple; whereas, Peter's are red and blue. What is prowlers color scheme? Green and purple.
Also, what is prowlers ethos? "You know me so well. I never quit." Prowler says when talking to Fisk. And what were all the spider beings saying, "we always get back up."
Fun little sequence of dialogue and scenes in the film that really sums up the situation Miles is in. When confront by both his parents and school counselor that he can't have his cake and eat it too, he asserts that he'd just bake two cakes. Later, he picks up two cakes from the bakery, he needed a second cake because he wanted too much written on the first cake (he's doing too much). Waiting for the second cake slowed him down, he had to take public transportation, and he was further slowed down by petty criminals he otherwise wouldn't have been slowed down by. He got to his father's celebration party late and both cakes were ruined. In trying to satisfy both what and others' expectations of him, he struggle, and sometimes fails, in both. A large part of why I feel Spider-Man is so relatable is a hero is because in a lot of his stories, he has to choose "the right thing to do" which, while causing a lot of good, will also cause harm, and he has to get back up and live with that harm while still doing the right thing. Having your cake and eating it too just isn't real, so it's not meaningful, not to us nor to Spider-Man as a character.

I know this might sound weird, but I actually view Spider Man 2099 as the more of the main villain of the story than Spot is. Earlier, when Miguel was fighting Vulture at the beginning of the movie, there was a part where he was about to bite Vulture's neck, supposedly to kill him. Which makes him more different than any other Spider Man because one of Spider Man's rules is that he doesn't kill.
Another thing that stands out to me about Spider Man 2099 is when he tells Miles that he's just a kid who was never meant to be Spider Man, but the thing is, that's exactly what Spider Man is, a kid. A boy or girl that starts out in high school who gets bitten by a radioactive Spider, and begins to grow up in their own way along with having these powers, learning what it means to be both a hero and a person.
Miguel, on the other hand, is an adult that comes from a kind of desolate future, who thinks he knows better than any other Spider Man, when in fact he is the polar opposite of who Spider Man truly is. I also think that because Spider people are mainly kids, that Miguel kind of took advantage of their childlike naivety to kind of make them believe that there is no other way to stop a canon event. This is all also the reason why I believe Beyond the Spiderverse will be his story, just like Into the Spiderverse was Miles's story, and Across the Spiderverse was Gwen's story.
I think the third movie is gonna make Miguel learn the hard way what truly makes Spider man who he is, because when you look at it, the deaths of their loved ones may be their catalysts, but it was ultimately the lessons they taught the Spider people in life that stuck with them. I truly believe that even if Uncle Ben didn't die, Spider Man still could've turned out the way he always did in the main continuity because that's who Peter truly is inside. So I believe it will be Miles and Gwen that teaches Miguel the true meaning of "with great power comes great responsibility." A power so far he has greatly abused.
Miguel has always killed in the comics. He doesn't make it a habit, but he will kill if he deems it necessary. Miguel going in for the kill with Vulture is a nice nod to his original comic run, where he did indeed kill the Vulture in the year 2099. It's actually what made Miguel able to wield Mjolnir in the comics. The hammer has always denied Peter or Miles its powers because Peter and Miles have a "no kill rule". Miguel doesn't have that rule, and Mjolnir deems Miguel worthy of lifting the hammer because of it. The year 2099 is also a very horrible place to live in. Imagine Night City from Cyberpunk 2077, now amp that up to eleven with not only cybernetically enhanced humans, but also human supremacists/mutant supremacists fighting one another due to the Mutant-Human War, with the police force of Nueva York itself being the biggest crime gang in the city. With how the city is, it's a freaking miracle that Miguel only occasionally kills when he deems it absolutely necessary. Most would just say "fuck it" and go in guns blazing like Punisher 2099.

Correct me if I’m wrong but I do feel that Kim, Gwen, peter B were okay with it because of what they had to endure. Miguel got to them first and I’m sure during that time period (1 year and change), he showed them all how serious something like a potential change to the “canon” can effect everything. I think in an odd way they were really looking out for Miles and not being jerks about it all. Everyone was afraid of getting close to him because they didn’t want him to find out the truth. Let’s be real none of the Spider-Men ever had knowledge of losing important people. By the time a Spider-Man confronted another Spider-Man they were consoling another because they knew what it was like to lose someone. I think Miguel put a lot in perspective for everyone else before anyone ever confronted Miles and we shouldn’t assume they were just okay with it. I think they understood how deep it could go and was looking at the grand scheme of things.

It’s understandable truly, but you need to understand that from Miles perspective he’s being told that his father needs to die in order for the cannon event to happen. Which from what I understand they basically telling him to sit it out and let it happen which is a shity thing to do. And it doesn’t help that his friends, Peter B, Gwen his love interest. (Hopefully not anymore) didn’t even vouch for him, they forgot the meaning behind becoming Spider man, and that finding the solutions to fix those problems or learn the truth the hard way. And to be honest I’m kinda in Miles’s case, because is really set in stone.

Gwen seeing how “canon” events can be different first hand with her own father proved to her that what she thought was right was actually worth challenging and that was because of Miles. Her dad quit being a captain right on the spot. He will no longer die.
I truly believe that we will see Miles (Prowler) and Aaron Help Miles (Spiderman) save Jefferson. I feel this could be a great progression for The Characters of Earth-42. Especially since Miles feels he can’t trust anyone else right now

this movie was everything i ever wanted for a spider-man movie. i can’t tell you how i felt while watching this movie, it was so SPECTACULAR seeing how everything unfolded, AND THAT CLIFFHANGER i know it was happening but i didn’t know how it was going to happen and it was so amazing. this movie overall is one of the best movies of this year probably top 3 and I CANT WAIT FOR BEYOND THE SPIDER-VERSE oh and “BAGEL!”

As a drummer who also heard that Gwen was taking up a bigger role in this movie, I got chills and was grinning from ear to ear from that banger of an intro. The visual representation of the drums and Gwen’s side of the first film was perfect. It’s definitely in my list for all time favourite movies
Very surprised that basically no review channel is talking about the moment where Spectacular Spider-Man talks to Miles while all the Spider-People are surrounding him in the central Hub; after finding out his dad is about to die. That was a very cool moment and I'm glad they gave Spectacular Spider-Man some lines and screen-time! Now I just hope the third installment features the 90s The Animated Series Spider-Man (my personal favorite.)

The ending of this movie really gave me Endgame vibes, my whole audience exploded when it said "Miles Morales will return in Spider-Man: Beyond The Spider-Verse"

Great take on this really being Gwens story arc. Definitely think that's the case, and in that sense, the movie has its resolution. I also never picked up on Spider Punk taking parts from the spider society to create his own watch.

its failure of film making far as im concerned as I say filmakers shouldn't make ending sequences unless they intend the credits to roll next. The gazillion endings of The Return of the King irks me to this day.

And it never once showed it was about to end. There were moments where someone would probably go wait don't end there. So they had to keep pushing because it didn't feel satisfying enough of a conclusion to a good cliffhanger. Do you get my point?
One thing i can’t get over is how perfectly they portrayed Gwen’s emotions in her world, with the scenery changing its color, the paint dripping down when Gwen portrayed a negative emotion and how bright everything was when she went for a hug, it was great.

My mind is RACING at all the possibilities that could happen in Beyond.
But I’d be VERY VERY surprised with Tom not appearing in this at all, if he does not appear and play a pivotal role in Beyond.
Because I honestly thought the movie was either gonna end, or show a post/end credit scene of Miles ending up in a Live-Action universe and thats were they left us.
But I want to see this movie again so bad.

I really like the detail of rio telling miles not to let others tell him he doesn't belong. Then later in the movie Miguel told him he didn't belong and the mindset changed leading to the climax of the next movie. Also if feel like that scene mirrored miles and Miguel. Miles had his crew behind him, so it kind of felt like miles was challenging Miguel for leader of the pack. By the end of beyond, miles will lead the spider people.

One major clue that stood out to me and why I knew something was off in the ending was Mile’s mother’s eyes were green in that world while the whole movie we’ve been staring at her brown eyes in the original universe. That was a slick way to add a subtle difference. This movie was amazing 🙌🏼

I just realized that Miguel says that Miles is an anomaly and wasn’t meant to be spider man and instead got his Peter Parker killed but in the first film Gwen’s spider sense kept trying to lead her to Miles by telling her to go to his school even before Miles was ever bitten by the spider. I wonder if this will get touched on Beyond the spider verse
The cliffhanger ending really didn't bother me considering the fact that we probably won't have to wait that long. I'm pretty sure beyond is due for March NEXT YEAR. Not sure if it actually will come out then but that's what I've seen around. Loved the review by the way! :))

The story, character development, the animation, the music, JUST EVERYTHING was great🔥 If they’re able to top this one, this may be the greatest trilogy I ever seen. My theory is that Miles will beat the Spot, reunite with his fellow spider-people, and somehow someway, he will end up in the live action MCU.
What got me hyped in a very unexpected way was mcu miles uncle, another thing was seeing ps5 Spider-Man and Tobey plus Andrew.

I was just shocked at how many spiders chose Miguel’s side , especially Turino s spider-man . I personally thought he’d want to try and help miles save Jeff , especially after what happened to his Jeff Davis .
I genuinely love the ideological conflict this movie proposes, it confronts the basic elements of the character of Spider-Man, the character is all about sacrifice and suffering fueling his development, but it’s also about saving as many people as possible (look at no way home), so it’s fascinating that they pitted these 2 concepts against each other because they’re at odds, I’m so excited to see how they deal with it

Doesn't the train chase music not sound very similar to a particular track in X-Men dark phoenix by Hans Zimmer, and that movie also had a train scene.

Seen it today at a 2:00pm time, and it was a packed theater, first of all I really loved this movie but when it ended my whole theatre including me yelled nooooo!! And some guy that was sitting next to me said welp see ya next spider season, overall this movie was phenomenal and I didn’t want it to end

How will Miles react when he sees Gwen again? I think at first Miles will be hesitant but once he sees that Gwen formed a team to go rescue he will rekindle with all of them. What will Miguel do about all of this? My theory is that he’ll fight Miles at least one more time before we see him change sides and he’ll sacrifice himself by stopping The Spot. Also, when Miles said “First Time for everything” Spider-Man will finally get the girl. Miles and Gwen will finally get together
Just saw it last night. The opening with Gwen Stacy and Peter’s death. The anxiety attack from Gwen was amazing. loved the camios in this movie. When Migule was talking about canon events, they showed Tobey, uncle Ben death, Andrew’s and spectacular Spider-Man’s. Then THEY ACTUALLY GAVE SPECTACULAR actual lines and talking to miles. That was actually insane. Camios are cool and all but if you actually throw the character in and have them have an important moment. You knocked it out the ball park to me. And Insomniac Spider-Man’s appearance was funny as hell. It’s funny because we’re actually listing to Childish Gambino’s music days before. THEN he’s actually in the movie.
I actually really like your last theory it makes perfect sense to do that and maybe get some dialog of him being ok being a normal person but still misses the ability and then have a spider bite him and end with him swinging through the city stopping a bad guy and maybe everyone cheering him on

The original person that the spider was supposed to bite was the evil Miles Morales. If you check the flashback when they talked about the spider being from another universe, you can see that the kid it was about to bite had braided hair and was Latino. So basically evil Miles only became evil because he never became Spider-Man.

The chase scene at the Spider-Verse hub was one of the most exhilarating sequences I’ve seen in a film of any medium in a long time. What was accomplished in this film defies comprehension.
Spiderman across the Spider verse is really heartbreaking and emotional also that was freaking cool that it showed MCU prowler but it sucks that we are going to have to wait until next year for Spiderman beyond the Spider verse to actually see live action Miles Morales 😭

My theory regarding his dad. I honestly believe if someone dies in Miles universe that it would be his mom instead. The focus is so much on his dad dying that he’s going to be too busy worried about that & completely forget that his mom could have the same fate. Being that everything could change & a new canon event is created.
I absolutely loved the film! My only real criticism was that the audio mix was super wonky for me in the first 20 minutes and I'm seeing some others have the same issue

This was Gwen’s story, it started with her saying how she didn’t want to hurt him. It is the telling how she hurt him, ending with how she will now save him.

Just got home from watching, movie is a MASSIVE W, I like how they completed a plot and also started a new one instead of leaving us with an unfinished story, amazing movie, and wait for Beyond
Love your reviews man. Took my 3 year old daughter to see the movie and she loved it! You were right in kids might not be able to stay focused on the movie the whole time because of the dialog, but my daughter really only lost a little focus after the first Spot fight, during Miles dads party till the second Spot fight (so maybe a 15-20ish minute stretch) and then at the very end when Miles was in universe 42 trying to tell his mom he is Spiderman. but other than that, she was glued to the movie and loved every minute of it. The parts she lost a little focus was easily solved with giving her some candy lol. We also went in the morning just to make sure the movie wasn't crowded incase she did talk or wanted to move a little.
This is so much more thought out than I ever couldve imagined it to be, THIS is what happens when you truly spend time to think out a complex plot and show it in a way thats easy to follow. No half-baked plotlines like weve been getting in the mcu since endgame. Movie oty right here ‼‼

I love that this movie probably gave us the clearest explanation why this Spider Society will NEVER recruit the live action trio of Tobey, Andrew and Tom. Cause they probably will do the same thing as Miles (1610) and rebel against the "canon" to save the ones they love, no matter what
Cris I know you speak Spanish and it might just be me, but Prowler Miles accent sounds a little thicker than our Miles'. Maybe cause Miles 42 is primarily being raised by Rio now; her voice is influencing a slight variation in the way he speaks with Jeff no longer being around. Wouldn't be surprised one bit with how incredibly deep the details go in this film.

Theory: cannon events just cause catastrophy when someone else interacts with them but when they are resolved by the correct spider-person they are resolve like what happend to Gwen with her father, he didnt die because he resigned and isnt a captain anymore
EXACTLY?! I’ve told all my friends that there’s no way that Miguel knows all the ins and outs of the true nature of the Canons and Gwen’s Dad quitting the force and staying alive only solidified my belief that Miguel only understands the basics of the Canons.
The destiny just decided to hurt them another way, taking something with equal value. Instead of life, Captain Satcy lost his job which is also a big loss. I don't think scenarist will repeat that trick twice(I hope they not) or otherways, drama will not work, just because it's a cheap copypaste.
Something worth mentioning is that in Earth 42 I heard the news in the background mention The Sinister Six Cartel.
I think the important resolution to the 3rd movie will be that it's Miles choice to do whatever he does (I think the idea he'll go back in time to prevent his own creation, fixing the life of the spot and preventing the death of Peter is a good guess), not because it's his fate. A huge part of Spider-Man's story is that he chooses to get back up and save as many people as he can every day, even if it costs a personal sacrifice.

I was so blown away when all those Spider people just accepted that these people had to die and do nothing about it, that's why I wish the Peter Parker from edge of time was in this movie because he would've definitely been on Miles side, after he found out that MJ was going to die and Miguel just said no his words which should've been given to this version of Miguel were "what's important is not standing by and allowing someone to suffer or die because you do nothing if you don't get that then you don't get the first thing about being Spider-man", like him Miles and Hobie were more Spider-man like then any of those other Spider people

One of the best movies Ive ever watched. Made you feel a lot. The music, the animation, the story and everything in between. Its a masterpiece and I went in without any real knowledge and the end completely threw me off guard. I wasnt expecting a "to be continued" at all because of how amazing the movie was. I just didnt want it to end.
i think miles won't lose his dad, he'll lose his mom. if no way home taught us one thing is that ANYONE can go. we didn't see an uncle Ben, but we did see Aunt May die. I think it just makes sense for it to be his mom.
That or Gwen ! They set up the whole spider man and Gwen relationship always ends bad so she’s at risk too

And I think having the dad die in 3 would be for their relationship in these two and maybe gwen tries to kill herself and Mike's stops her and the dad as the cop captain would be beneficial to die for protecting miles in saving the spiderverse and gwen and him can stop spot and Miguel together.

Some really cool details: Miguel uses the word “shocking” which is profanity in the Marvel 2099 comics. Also, Rio’s eyes are brown on Earth-1610 & green on Earth-42.
I saw the scanner say Earth 42 and I was like, oh, Miles is going to the wrong universe, but then it went on for a while not revealing that and for a second I thought that was a plot they just threw away, but then the ending happened and my mind was just blown

I'm not sold on Miles-42 as "evil". I would be more inclined to believe Miles-42 is his own version of a hero within his own dystopian world, most likely run by Kingpin. With his uncle and him teaming up after the death of his father. I see him right now as a robin hood in a similar style as Ekko from Arcane.

I was trying to avoid spoilers for this movie for so long am I am so happy I did god, this movie was amazing and that ending cliffhanger oh my God
I'm one of the few that DIDN'T know it was going to be a two-part thing... so, while I thoroughly enjoyed every single second of the movie, I walked away feeling like it was 2h of filler and the plot didn't really start until the 3rd act, only to leave us with more questions than answers. The more I think about the movie, and the more I watch stuff on it, I'm quickly coming around. xD
Honestly, 1 cameo sealed the deal for me on my love for this film (the countless others were just the icing on top), because of disability representation... Sun-Spider (Earth-20023). They're a non-binary Spider-person with EDS (Ehlers Danlos Syndrome), that uses high tech wheelchairs and crutches as webshooters! The second I saw their mask on the poster I was so excited, but worried they'd be one of the several briefly glimpsed during the spider-people chase-scenes. Nope, they went a step further and gave them dialogue with Miles! (A disability related pun, one that I used quite often, myself. Though, I have a different disability. haha xD)
Btw Miles was in NWH. When Peter get to his new apartment, faintly you can hear Rio tell Miles it’s time for bed 👀. For some reason the English version turns the audio down but in the Portuguese version you can hear her louder
