  • NEW FOR 2017!
Introducing the Cajon Bru-llet (CB1) and the VicKick Beater 4 (VKB4)!
CHECK OUT EVERYTHING NEW FOR 2017:

“Although the cajon is traditionally played with the hands, today’s percussionists are experimenting with a variety of implements in pursuit of new and exciting sounds,” states Neil Larrivee, Vice President of Education and Drumstick Product Development for Vic Firth Co. “For all the cajon brushes out there, we were surprised to learn that very few of them actually address the unique needs of this emerging instrument!”
The Cajon Bru-llet marries elements of a brush and a mallet to brilliantly translate both slap and bass tones to the cajon! Hickory shaft with medium-stiff plastic bristles and a 1 1⁄2” mallet head made from XLPE foam. The VKB4 is crafted with a foam rubber head and produces a warm, full bass tone on Cajon with just the right amount of attack.
Vic Firth’s new cajon products are designed with functionality and musicality as the top priorities.

I emailed them about this back in July. So glad they are coming out with it.

I already made something like this with a balled up hair band on a brush and have been using it for years. I hate to break it to you but you need to make the brush longer if you want to be able to get a good snare/hi-hat combo sound. Cause at that length the brush is not versatile. It will be bad for the snare sound cause it does not cary enough weight and will just be ok as a brush. If you like contact me and I will send you a pic of what I have so you can get some ideas on how to make it better. Until then I will stick with what I have. In the meantime hope you come out with other designs.

I am a little disappointed as I had assumed it was a combination of a brush and a mullet!

+vicfirthdrumsticks *Both products look useful on the kit as well.* I'll have to see whether a "middle" pedal is worth the toolup costs for other manufacturers besides Hohner Muſikinſtrumente GmbH (for a contingency double-bass expansion for my Tama®/Hoshino® kit I need something smaller than the Sonor® Giant Step® original); it would be ideal for a subwoofer cajon with dual VKB-4's betwixt dual 22"x18" kick drums. The Bru-llet looks usable in avant-garde on a kit packing a full bag of Evans®/D'Addario® G12, G14, G2, EC2S, ONX, or HW batters.

It means the cajon comes from the descendants of African slaves brought to Peru by the Spanish conquistadores in the XVI century. Hope that helps!
