Loro Parque boasts the only killer whale show in the Canary Islands. Located in Puerto de la Cruz in the north of Tenerife, its renowned orca show has to be seen to be believed. Just for info, Loro Parque is not a simple zoo, is a nonprofit foundation where hundreds of scientists and vets work together to breed endangered species and reintroduce them into its habitat, specially parrots. All profit is destinated to that kind of programs so i think they are giving some voice to the animals, and you don't.
Although they do a major job on conservation and protection endangered species, it is still a prison for the animals that are kept there, like the orca's and dolphins, the lions, the penguins and all the exotic birds in small cages!
Yeah I get your point but you also have to bear in mind it's a rapidly changing world and before too long we are going to rely a lot more heavily on places like this to preserve species that would otherwise go extinct .
@@tonywalker5789 Orcas are not in any danger of going extinct, if we destroy the planet to the point we have to keep these intelligent animals in captivity to preserve their species, we better have a backup planet to go to .
Orcas and dolphins should not be there. Not many people know about the big massacres of these intelligent, senting creatures after confining them in Japanese bays to select the best ones to be sold to zoos. After separating the best ones all the others are cruelly, mercilessly killed. Atrocious. Moreover, these animals live only one third of the years they can live in the open sea due to stress in confinement and training and pain when they are separated from their descendents by the humans.
Did loro parque on one of our visits enjoyed it, but on our january 2020 visit went to the jungle park. Smaller than loro but the bird of pray show was brilliant. Went on the free shuttle bus from near our hotel. Well worth a visit.
Siam park best experience I’ve ever had on holiday , I’m glad my parents took me there
Glad you enjoyed your visit, so much to see there we had a2 day pass as 1 day was not enough, we also behind the the scenes tour to see infrastructure on how they manage all the various ecosystems and how they care for the animals including the below the marine arena where the whales are and the laboratories/research centre

Lovely place loro parque in tenerife i have been 2 twice i like all the animal's that you never seen before the food is lovely and so tidy and the staff are very friendly. I been in 2017 AND 2018 wish i was there again

The Monkey Park near Los Cristianos is really good as well. It’s only €10 to get in and you can feed the animals. My son loves it.

When I saw the post I thought I'd skip this video as not keen at all on 'caged' animals and birds etc

I went to loro parque & jungle park in tenerife on the same holiday week. I easily prefered jungle park. Seemed less of a cash grab. Lots of animals loverlyyyy jungle setting. Less crazy busy. And animal welfare :) so id like to shout out JUNGLE PARK and about 50% cheaper & just as big as loro.
awaker200 I agree! Been to Jungle Park a few times and have always had a great time! You can always jump in a taxi for 10 Euros or so back to Costa Adeje / Las Americas!
Love the videos Lee 👏 We visited Loro once and immediately felt ashamed watching the orca show and vowed never to attend one again. Watched the documentary Blackfish afterwards too and made me realise even more how barbaric this is. This orca trade is still going on across the planet for human entertainment.
That said everyone has the right to attend these shows if that's what they like - so no hate.

This has changed my mind on visiting Loro Parque actually! Have spoken to friends in the past about it and they’ve always said that it’s not really worth the money, but I didn’t realise how big it was! The only thing that puts me off is having to wait all day until the free bus if it’s a hot day, as I imagine a taxi would be expensive back to Las Americas! Have you been to Jungle Park? That’s well worth a visit and it’s south too! P.S. Tortoises are my fave! 🐢😊

I have been to Loro Parque a few times, I think it changes your views of what a zoo can be. 38€ for a full day out, can't argue with that!

It looks like a very well organised and presented place. Lions are a bit secretive. They like to snooze when it’s warm. I got a photo of one at Melbourne zoo - it’s just a foot sticking up out of the grass! I’m glad you filmed so much of the zoo, it’s very good.
I was there in January 2020. I wouldn't go to Tenerife _just_ for Loro Park but if you're in Tenerife anyway then sure, go for it.
Worth a visit especially if you have wee ones - but a tip for your viewers - you can get cheaper tickets! Two years ago my family stayed in Pueto De La Cruz and there are vendors there who will offer you a deal. Or a quick online search and you will get discounted tickets.

We went as part of a free bus trip for a sales dinner for a company selling memory foam bedding and aloe vera products we got a free lunch too and all paid into loro parque for an afternoon . Its was a great trip non pushy sales folk for the products they were selling we had an excellent lunch too . Well worth a visit is loro parqe .
Great vlog 👍 Went to Loro Parque a couple a weeks ago, highly recommend The Discovery Tour. For a little extra money, you get to see stuff "normal " visitors don't, like what does the Gorillas get for breakfast, the baby hatch station etc. Next time don't miss out on the Orca show ...absolutely amazing ❤️ A little fun fact... right behind the flamingos the founder and owner of the park, Mr.Wolfgang Kiessling actually lives. And the answer to your question ....The flamingo stands on one leg for two reasons ...to rest the other leg and to keep warm 😉

Thanks for your excursion. Naturally, everyone desires to catch everywhere. But you make a mistake if you suppose to be able to make all there on time. Don’t even try to be everywhere at once. Lora Park specially buys a two day ticket. To me Lora Park is the best place in Puerto de la Cruise and the greatest way to spend a day in Lora Park is to visit Orca Show.
If your up the north pal in my opinoin brunellis is great for steak and the view from the restaurant is amazing got to check it out pal.... Doubt you will have flys bothering you too lol

Loro Parque is definitely a full day out. Get there early, check the show times on the map and you will have a great time. We don't drive but bus 343 from Costa Adeje and Los Cristianos only takes around 90 mins to Puerto de la Cruz and then around a 15 min walk or 5 min taxi (about 4€) to the park. We'll be out there this Easter (April 8th -22nd) so if you want me to show you how easy the public transport system is out there give me a nod if you're out there, Well done Lee.

Another fantastic vlog, If I can convince mum and dad to jump on some public transport, we may have to pay a visit.
The dolphin and sea lion shows looked incredible, the ones I saw in Numazu were great but the ones you saw had a lot more water to play with and a bigger crowd too.
At first I thought the 38 Euro charge was a bit high in comparison to the few zoos and aquariums I've been too, but how it's been decorated looks stunning, it looks the part for sure and is worth it, just going by your video.

Great memory's of being there pity you missed out on the Whale Show Lee, you need to be there early as it opens, also missed the bird show and the bird enclosure which you can walk through, Jungle Park has both of these too not as good as Loro Park but not bad, they have a toboggan ride there too, it would be good for a video lol, maybe next time.

Conditions in Loro Park that the animals are kept in are much better than alot of zoos, but I do agree that Orcas should not be kept in captivity, the problem is that they can never be released into the wild because they would not survive, the only solution now is to not let them reproduce and let Orcas die off in captivity.Zoos in general I feel are necessary to keep allot of species from dying out due to what humans do to them in the wild.
@@markrobertmurphy4876 have you seen the space the white tigers have? They walk and run miles in the wild. And most of the other animals. The orca can survive they can go to sea sanctuaries where they are back in natural habitat and without doing tricks for food. No animal should be kept in captivity in cages. I went there once a few years ago and it broke my heart (never again) i was watching the sea lions and they had a baby one with the adult ones, they were trying to get the baby one to learn the new tricks , the baby didnt do the trick so it was refused food, same as the dolphins and orca. The space the orca and dolphin have to live in aswell is terrible.
Also theyve just forced Morgan to have a baby which they are trainning already for the shows even though there was a ban on breeding.
@@xlilmisssunshinex5264 As I said I agree with you on the Orcas, and of course the dolphins too, also on making animals preform, but as I said for conservation and educational reasons I think Zoos are necessary there should be a re think though as to the way they are kept and in my experience this is happening in most zoos, Loro Parks enclosures are bigger than other zoos that I have been in.

I wouldn’t recommend it personally, the way they treat their animals, half starved so they perform, fed frozen fish, orcas & dolphins don’t belong in fish bowls, I was really hoping you were gonna give it the thumbs down.
Behave, I used to live in Tenerife and visited the Loro Parque several times as a child up until my teens, been back and been there, its a brilliant attraction, what you have is a lot of negative publicity over the Black Fish documentary, created by people who are Animal Right campaigners, with a very biased approach which is no animal should be in captivity, and whilst that in principle sounds very nice, the fact is a lot of the money from Loro Parque funds animal conservation in the wild, including whales and dolphines and took a large part in protecting the whales and dolphines around Tenerife as many were injured from Boat Excursions and they set out restrictions on how close to get as well as funding other animal conservation activities around the world by teaming up with other zoos. A lot of children get to see animals up close which they would not get a chance to see in the wild, and it gives children a sense of how big the animals are, how they interract with humans and if anything a love for animals, as it shows animals like Dolphines, Parrots, Sea Lions can bond with us, and whilst we are quick to critisize the Orca whale show, behave, we all saw "Free Willy" frenchise and we fell in love with the idea of a Orca Whale being able to have a connection with a human being, so why cant children visit one and have that feeling? There are only 2 Zoos in all of Europe that have Orcas, this is not a pandemic, this is not the slave trade of the 17th Centuary, grow up
Yes there was a tragedy were a trainer got killed by an Orca, you know what else happens, marine animals have died due to oil tanker spills so that you can drive your car, did you give up driving? no!
How about the last time you went abroad, did you fly out on a plane? if so in 1970s there was the worst ever plane crash that happened in history and that was in Tenerife, do you stop flying on planes? Noooooooo, So think about the hypocricy before critisizing and damaging a business, because in the future, Zoo's wont exist and it will just be visiting a place full of robotic animals (TH-cam: "Robotic Dolphine") and you will see that in the future, there wont be life in zoos but robots, and in which case you will be seing aftificialness vs natural, I mean would you love to go to a Botanic Garden just to look at plastic plants? Nope,
So before you are quick to judge, how about you so some critical thinking, and look at the pros and cons of everything, and not just read a couple of articles in a magazine or a few webpages but instead trully emerce yourself in what these zoos do for animals before you critisize their work without looking at both sides, I watched Black Fish, ive read the articles and I also looked into what Loro Parque and other zoos do, and they do far more than your willing to comment, why is that, because you want to manipulate others with your ignorance.

It infuriates me straight away that residents and tourists are charged different entry fees. Especially as there is a huge price difference.
Its the same with other things , such as flights between other islands and ferry crossings, but the locals do live on a duty free island so prehaps that is the reason, lol I dont know.
I very much doubt people there earn a lot so I don’t begrudge then this :) x

Looks like you really enjoyed the visit as anyone would , can't recommend the place enough both for what you get to enjoy seeing but also for the work those people put in to helping make sure that Joe blogged gets to experience seeing things they would otherwise NEVER have the opportunity to see . They are also very much involved in consent action works around the planet so not just an average zoo . Cheers again mate 👍

I only had Edinburgh zoo when I was little , I think loro parque would have blown my mind if I experienced it as a kid to be honest . As you know very cheap to go to Holland-Last time I went there was a long time ago now 18 months ago
We went with Ryan Air flights were only £52 pounds RTN each from Gatwick- per person plus accommodation was only £200 for a 4 nights/5 days so only £100 each
I would advise to at least stay in the Theme Park complex or across the road from it and be there for at least 2/3 days-So much to see and do
Do you like Golf as they have a massive Golf Course as you might know-I mean-The Fairytale Forest for example will take you 3/4 hours to see/ walk through it all :-)

they simulate the penguins climate so if you go at the time of year when its Winter in Antartica you might be unlucky and find its dark in the Penguin enclosure.

You can hire a car. Or there's loads of places that sell day excursions. 👍🏼
Make sure you book the transfer bus when you buy the tickets, its extra but not a great amount.

I love going their I always go their sometimes but I always go to it’s sister park Siam Park in the south of Tenerife when I’m their 👍👍👍

It's not bad per person considering it's lay out, live shows and conservation programs in comparison to most zoos.. though I do believe they own seaworlds orca programs, which have in the past been a gray area for animal activists. Al in all at around 29 quid and those animals more active then most uk zoos id say 9/10
