- This version of Can't Buy Me Love from the "Live at the BBC" album, recorded on 28th February 1964 and broadcast 10th of March the same year.
It includes John playing his J160-E, which I have represented here with my Hohner Acoustic, and George playing his Gretsch Country Gentleman (or possibly Tennessean)
It also sounds like George's Lead was recorded again as an overdub, but not just for the length of the Solo, also for the majority of the verses and choruses!
For this reason, I decided to record this version of the song, as I think it deserves a lot more recognition!
Gear Used:
• Gretsch G6122T-62 Country Gentleman
• Hohner 400W Acoustic Guitar
• Vox AC30VR Amplifier
• Shure SM57 Dynamic Mic
I hope you enjoyed the video! if you did please consider subscribing, sharing and liking the video! Thank you! :)

Thank you loads Lukas! :)
Excellent job Luca. Really cool to see a live at BBC cover. Absolutely nailed the tones and playing on the song!
Thank you Luke! Definitely more BBC covers one day ;)
Outstanding!
Thank you Christopher, glad you enjoyed :)
WOW! This is amazing! I have watched your channel since you posted your 2 or 3rd video and it is amazing to see the improvement in the sound and playing. Also that acoustic sounds really good considering it isn't technically the "proper" one!
Thank you man! I'm glad you've stuck around for all this time! Already got loads more videos ready to upload soon, keep watching haha! :)
Sweet
Thank you mate :)
One of my all time favs.😛😛How about Tell Me Why?🙃 I believeJohn used his Ricky on it.😉
I might have to wait a while to do that one! Don't have a rick 12 yet ahah!
@@LucaColaMusic Maybe Sam could lend you a hand.😉😜
@@centoeberhardt1663 ahaha perhaps!
@@LucaColaMusic I’ve found that overdubbing with a capo on the 12th fret helps get close to the sound. Also if u have a spare guitar that’s not getting a lot of use, could potentially put the high octave strings of a 12 string (Nashville tuning) on and overdub with it to get the sound.
@@Luke_D9 I suppose this would work, but the problem is that the two guitars wouldn't perfectly sync with eachother and might create an odd flanging effect

Thank you man!
George also used his Rickenbacker 360/12 in the studio version
That doesn't apply because this is the Live at the BBC version! :)
@ABCCOMEDIAN1998 Did you not read the title Ryan? It clearly states that it’s the live at BBC version where George is clearly playing a Gretsch. Also you would think Luca would know that George used a rick 360/12 in the studio knowing that he plays Beatles covers, played Paul in a tribute band and knows a lot about them.
