Romney you are genuinely a genius for this. It put something into words that I've been wanting to say for so long. Personally, my room is a museum of my heart. It's a collage of notes and posters and poetry and books. It reminds me who I am when I forget. Once a week I spend the night at my dad's in my tween bedroom and it's pictures of horses and ballerinas on the wall. It shows me how far I've come.
I don't know. I hope death is walking through every room you've ever made your own. "Life flashing before your eyes."

This video is so beautifully done. It reminds me that I have a copy of ‘a room of one’s own’ sitting on my bookshelf that I need to get to. I remember buying it the same day after I got hired for my first job.
I never learnt the ukelele like you, but I remember being 11 or 12 years old sitting at my desk for hours a day trying to teach myself Japanese. I’m 24 now and can barely remember to do my duolingo lessons these days lol. It’s funny how when we’re younger we have so much drive to learn these things, and even if that drive goes away or is replaced with other priorities we still take a bit of each of our past selves as we grow. That person we were at that time eager to learn these things never really goes away, they just become part of us.
I love how these milestones and experiences and the art we all love links us together. From my own room on the other side of the world, I feel such a sense of camaraderie with you 🖤

I love the fig tree analogy and I think I have a solution to the dilemma of wanting many things at once. We should pick each fig from the branches of the tree and consume each one mindfully and and gratefully aka we can always peruse all of the things we want to, no matter how miscellaneous, one by one, one step at a time. We have a lifetime to explore and learn different things and we should embrace our multifaceted nature.
