This is a great tutorial! I always wondered if there was a good way to mimic an art bat without using carders! Love these spinning videos. Very inspiring!
Oh my gosh, I love your pattern photos (thanks for all the freebies, btw!), but your voice and the way you speak is icing on the cake! "...a burrito, omnomnom!"
I snorted audibly when you said "burrito"!!! Hahaha so cute. Love this art yarn, this wheel, and all your great videos! Keep it up. Also: if you ever knit something up with this yarn, can you please benefit us with photos/video of it?
Would you consider doing videos on what to do AFTER the yarn is spun for absolute beginners? As in taking it from the wheel, plying it, making a skein, etc, and also maybe dyeing videos if you dye yarn? Also, I love your videos! I'm a new spinner (like just got my wheel today!!!) and your Spinning for Absolute Beginners video was just wonderful, thank you!!!
wait.... spinning it is NOT "plying" the yarn?? (I'm a pre-beginner!!!!) this was a fun video and the sparkly flower yarn I thought is ready for crafting!!
Hi I really like your video. May I know where can I purchase this spin machine ? Can it also work yarn, I kind of want to spin a few different textured yarn together. Thanks in advance.
+Du Emma If you google spinning wheels there will be a number of results for places and companies that sell them. Yes, you can spin different textured yarn together. That makes for a fun experience! : )
Hi Nova, thank you for your comment. It will depend a bit on the spinning wheel, as well as whatever fiber is used. I have two wheels, both Ashfords, but one has a larger orifice than the other. Also. some fibers are coarser than others, so fiber content will also play a role. So, really "it depends." 😊 Hope this answers your question. Have a wonderful day!
Your wheel is very similar to mine in colour/build, apart from mine is a castle wheel. I had to replace the spokes but the original ones were the same as yours. Spindle is the same and so is the treadle stick arrangement. Apart from only one treadle plate. Do you know anything about yours? I’ve no clue how old mine is or where it originally came from.
That is cool! I know that mine is a Lendrum Saxony Double Drive Spinning Wheel woolery.com/lendrum-saxony-double-drive-spinning-wheel.html Though, I didn't get it from here. I found it on some spinning forum long ago. 😊
this is sooooo totally AWESOME!!!! :-) Wish I had one of those. You are so creative. Where do you get the fibers to make your yarn though?? I subscried to your channel and look forward to new videos. Do you only knit or crochet to?? I mostly knit & recently been watching your knitting videos to learn to knit. Id like to see you crochet a Queen Anne headband with beads using your lovely spun art yarn. I'd also love to see tutorial on dying your own art yarn. Sorry, I'm just sofull of questions. It's just that your art yarn is so lovely and exiting. I absolutely love it. :-) YaaaaaY Yarn!!!!! :-)
Themed projects! Harry Potter houses, characters from Once Upon a Time, families from Game of Thrones? I'm sure there could be some non-nerdy projects, too :)
I was on your website a few days ago and I read your story...you are an inspiration. But i notice that you sell beautifully spun yarn.....extremly professional, . It takes years to learn this and your yarn is so nice that it has to be factory made. Its amazing. You cannot be spinning this stuff yourself. You sell too much product to NOT be industrialized, you're in business to long. Is your yarn spun in a factory and dyed there too. Amazing products, quality is fantastic...
Hello, thank you so much for your response... Its beautiful. I will look again in more detail later and will purchase products. I just love you, and the way you present things. You are truly an inspiration. Thank you so much for sharing your story and products and part of your life with us. You help us all so much everyday. The good you do spreads. Sending you much love.
Honestly, I found my roving by googling "roving". You can certainly find pre-dyed roving all over the internet, including etsy, eBay, etc. Or, you can dye them yourself. Happy shopping. ❤️
Hi, I liked this video (the second made by you). Just wonder if it's possible to spin yarn again from the yarn bought from the yarn shop? Hah, I know nothing about spinning... just been thinking of how to spin yarn. Maybe later spin my own yarn.
Perfect timing, ive just been considering making art yarn. What im really curious of though is is what you do with all the types of art yarns after. Like core spun and the type where people seem to have somehow incorporated everything from food wrappers to kitchen sinks.. Ok, maybe not the kitchen sink but how about i just see so many art yarns that i cant imagine knitting with or crocheting with. So what do you do with them?
That was so much fun to watch, it makes me want to see more! Anything you'll do with fiber, I'm sure we all want to watch, and you're fun too! I'd like to know where you get you animal fibers from if I may ask... do you have regular sellers you buy from nearby, or do you have to order it from a distance? We have lots of farms around here in SC that animals for selling their fiber, among others thongs of course. They raise llamas, alpaca, , goats and sheep for their 'hair'. It's becoming big business, thank goodness - God put them here for us, but we must treat them humanely. :)
+Susans Soul Shines Yes, I completely agree. The fiber I use to spin I usually buy from local yarn shops. I like to patronize small businesses whenever I can.
That is such a difficult question, because so many spinners have such an close relationship with their wheel. I would suggest that you go to your local yarn shop to see if they have a wheel that you could try out. All of the hugs!
Could you do a drop spindle video and more spinning , hoping to get a drop spindle at a fiber festival, tomorrow. Could you do videos on what's the next step after you spin getting into spinning want to make some art yarn
i did not know spindles are real i thought they were part of the fairytale sleeping beauty. i never seen one other then the spindle in the movie and also on here.
OLD MOVIE BUT YOU HAVE BEAN FANTASTIC ALREDY BACK THEN! THANK YOU
I would love to see something made with the art yarn!
Amy Williams sure!
I LOVE this blending approach!! I'm trying to overcome my perfectionist tendencies and get more texture and pops of color. Thank you!!!

You are so welcome!

Liliana Hassiotis Great idea!
I love these suggestions! I spin art yarn regularly, but it never would have occurred to me to put flowers in that!
Couldn't sleep and then I found your channel. You are so refreshing and such a pleasure to watch. Can't wait to see what's next!
Thanks, Judy!

Lovely!!!! Could you make a video on wrapping shiny thread onto yarn?
+Amber Santos We will definitely add that to our list of videos to create!
Do the flowers flow easily through the orfice?
Hi Nova, thank you for your comment.

lovely tutorial, thank you. where can I buy bulk fiber from? I want to tap into high quality but well priced roving and do I dye these myself?
Honestly, I found my roving by googling "roving". You can certainly find pre-dyed roving all over the internet, including etsy, eBay, etc. Or, you can dye them yourself. Happy shopping. ❤️

Very interesting video! How did you keep your black skirt so clean with all those fibers??
That's a great question! I don't know. 😂😂
When I crochet wearing my black leggings, it looks like a cat has been sitting on my lap!
This is sooo cool yarn where did ya find it

Liz Kimber I like to make scarves, shawls, cowls!

😂 True! 💕💕
Great Video! Super cute yarn :D
+Acacia Rucker Thanks!
You're awesome
I want to see what you would do with that yarn! And I also am dying to see how it came out.... unless.... did I miss that part?? 😂😂😂

Hi! I love your spinning videos! Could you give me advice on how to choose a good spinning wheel and how much I should be willing to spend?
That is such a difficult question, because so many spinners have such an close relationship with their wheel. I would suggest that you go to your local yarn shop to see if they have a wheel that you could try out. All of the hugs!
