This worked 100% as stated. I couldn't believe how well this worked. In five mins, my filter was flawless! I never knew this stuff existed until this video. I really appreciate the time to post something so relevant. With an internet full of junk, this was the most relevant post in recent memory.
I found your videos and after watching this one I wanted to try the product. I own my own cleaning business and wanted to use it in my clients' homes. I found it worked like a charm on a filter that had about six months' worth of grease on it. On others that had 5-10 years it worked good but needed a lot of extra scrubbing. They did not look brand new when finished but definitely 100x better. Thank you for the tip. BTW...I found this product at Walmart but not in the normal cleaning supplies section. I located it in the automotive department.
@@HomeRepairTutor Can you tell me how to open tge upper glass area. I don't know if there is a button or something. As if i try putting pressure it feels like I'll break something. Please tell me how to open it.
Purchased Super Clean from amazon (it leaked in shipping but thats not important) and used on my range hood and filter that is probably 10 years old.. Filter has never been cleaned and the range has been attempted but never fully. This stuff is awesome!.. cleaned the range no problem and the filter, with a bit of extra scrubbing, came out looking like new.. Great vid and tip!
I used SOS Pad to clean grease of the exterior of my range hood and it worked with some elbow grease. I will try this on the filters which don't clean quite as easily. I am sure putting them in my dishwasher won't do the trick. Thanks for the tips Jeff and other people that comment gave. :)
I am doing this tomorrow. Who knew I could look forward to cleaning my range vent?! (I've scrubbed mine regularly, but it always feels sticky-hopefully this will do the job.)
Look for a product called "Purple Power." I have not uses "Super Clean" but can attest to how well Purple Power works on greasy surfaces. We buy it in 5 gallon pails and use it for everything to cleaning exhaust hoods to spraying on the vinyl siding on the house to loosen dirt before power washing. Did our RV with it............amazing stuff!
Came looking for the product that I presumed existed, et voila. Thank you for the promotion; shall pick it up straightaway and have at it. Cheers, Jeff.
Hey Jeff. I will definitely buy that stuff at the store. Its amazing how there is not that may grease removal products on the market anymore. I remember a good product call Grease Relief, but have seen in the stores in years. thanks,Mark
I think you'll like it Mark Hoffman Yah, I wonder if most of the products got taken off the market for one reason or another. That's a 60 minutes segment waiting to happen
Thanks inventionaddict - I love finding quick solutions to nasty cleaning jobs. Grease is so terrible to clean. Yucky stuff. I couldn't believe how easy this product made it to clean. Thank goodness it worked!!
I boiled my metal filters with a pot ful of water & a cup of Oxiclean powder. Then I wiped my hood with olive oil which cut through the dried on grease. Finished with Windex. Everything is spotless.
Can't wait to try it. Will it work for stove tops? I clean houses and some of my clients have very bad grease stains that I spend like 2 hours scrubbing off.
Dailia Y Rigo Orozco you'd have to do a small test on the stove top to see if it'll work and also see if it's compatible with the stove top material :D
I love how clean your house is and you think it's dirty but I just watched a super yucky video by someone who rinsed his filter in the sink and not even his sink was clean, there were food scraps in it and stuff (even though he knew he was gonna be filming it!), so, yeah, wow, I like your flat. Tbh that wasn't even dirty to me, haha, but it's better to clean it early rather than later! :) Want to become like this. I just hope this SuperClean is available in the U.K.; I love how it's biodegradable.
THANKS FOR THE VID. I JUST USE COMMON DISH SOAP TO CLEAN THE FILTER. TAKE THE FILTER OUTSIDE WET IT WITH WATER AND LIBERALLY SQUIRT SOME DISH SOAP ON THE GREASY SIDE OF THE FILTER. LET SET FOR 5 TO 10 MIN. BRUSH THE FILTER LIGHTLY THEN HOSE OFF FROM THE NON GREASY SIDE WITH YOUR GARDEN HOSE. THE HIGHER PRESSURE OUT OF THE HOSE SQUIRTER BLOWS THE GREASE RIGHT OFF. EASY PEASY
I totally planned that Billy Oliver - lol. Actually I only noticed after you mentioned it. For some reason we have a lot of rabbits this year. And several baby deer.
Why does every range filter cleaning video show some modern stainless steel range with 6 months of grease? Where's the 30 year old rusted Whirpool in a cheap apartment that has cobwebs and a decades worth of dead bugs fall out? Anyone can clean a range like this...
Hey Jeff! Are you supposed to clean more than just the filters? I have a range hood and i feel like the grease is dripping down from the fan component. But there's no easy way to disassemble? Are we not supposed to clean that area??
Angela Bliss-Steiner you can clean up into the fan too. Just be careful spraying any cleaning solution near the wiring. I truly believe in this product and have gotten great feedback from other people who say the same thing. Take a look and see if there are any screws in your fan that could be removed and allow access. I hope that's the case :)
Oh boy, I tried cleaning these filters today (I have 3) and I've never seen so much disgusting grease in my life. I don't know how the hell I'm gonna clean it. We don't have Super Clean where I live.
cool. I don't know if it'll work on my problem. If you think the hood in this video was greasy, you haven't seen the rental property we're cleaning! I don't even know where to start!
HELP!! This looks like a great video BUT I can't get to step 1 as I do not know how to pop open the filter cover. My hood looks like this one but I cannot find any mechanism that allows me to open it, It's not shown in the video at all. Can someone help with this?? Thanks!!
that cleaner contains sodium hydroxide, which should not be used on aluminum. However, if you want the cheapest sodium hydroxide cleaner on the market, buy Purple Power.
Home Repair Tutor thanks a bunch , I have, there is nothing specifying how to remove the 2nd one without the pull tab 🤦♀️ ..and I called homeowners and they said they took them both out same way. Impossible 🤣🤣 I’m going to hit a store and see others and ask questions. I’m afraid if I just pull it out the filter will end up bent. And call number on manual.. the brand “cooker hood” is not very forthcoming with info !,,, Appreciate Kath
Bummer, I’d start with the one that can be removed but you could also try wiping the filter with Superclean and letting it sit a few minutes then wipe with a clean sponge
I read this video clip few times and was so excited. I bought Super Clean Foaming from Pep Boys. Tell you the truth, I am very disappointed with its outcome. Did I miss anything?
Sorry to hear you're disappointed JunMin Liu - I didn't use the Super Clean Foaming. I used Super Clean cleaner/degreaser. There could be a big difference in the two.
Maybe I should point out the obvious if the filter and outside is caked in grease what about the inside of the duct leading going to the outside of the house. Commercial kitchens have to clean their ducts for insurance every 4-6 months. Think grease fire. The duct is what you should be worried about! I use hot soapy water and like magic it cuts thru grease, no chemicals needed plus I don't want chemicals anywhere near where I cook food!!!!!
Super Clean may be an excellent cleaner & de-greaser, but one would never know it from watching this video. Your range hood is not even close to being "just caked full of grease." I would be happy if my range hood, after cleaning, were as clean as yours is to begin with.
Total freakin' disaster. Not sure what my mom's been cooking, but the goo/grease wouldn't dissolve. Tried a few products, boiling water, alcohol, etc.....but only managed to spread it around. The dishwashing gloves dissolved (sorta) and adhered to the drying rack. Both discarded. I drove home wearing old gloves (to keep it off my steering wheel) which I had to peel off my hands. At home, I have an orange hand cleaner which wouldn't get the gunk of my hands. Sand helped enough to let me function, more or less....but I could still feel it on my hands for a few days. That said, my mom's a great cook, but next time.....I'll just replace her hood entirely.
i use half cup of petrol (gas) on the paper towel and rub gently, comes of like the butter of your knife, but it is very risky and this is not for everybody !!!
This worked 100% as stated. I couldn't believe how well this worked. In five mins, my filter was flawless! I never knew this stuff existed until this video. I really appreciate the time to post something so relevant. With an internet full of junk, this was the most relevant post in recent memory.

awesome!!! Thanks for the feedback. We still use this product and are always amazed at how well it works.
Super clean worked wonders. Just amazing how quick and easy you can get 100% results. Thank you so much for sharing.
That stuff is amazing.. only took a couple of minutes to clean years of grease off. Thanks!!
WOW!!!! Works like a charm! So glad I found your video. Maybe another cleaner would work as well? BUT your recommendation was spot on, grease off!
Thanks so much for your video! I’ve tried Dawn, winded..etc. I am dashing to Lowes now! I’m sure they have it! Can’t wait for more tips!
Tried this product as shown in this video. Worked phenomenally well!! Very impressed.
Loved the squirrel in the background just before the end, and I am going to try Super Clean.

it's a great method, and yes, I like to prep a little before filming, lol
I wonder what’s the dilution rate if I have the 1 gallon vs the spray version

is the GE's hood fan use good? I am going to buy one but not sure if it works well
Where do you drain the water that you soaked the filter in?
Thanks for this video, really surprised how that product cuts grease. Great find!
I was equally surprised kurfehs2 :)
How did u open the range hood to get to the filter???
Any brand of similar cleaner would work I assume
Why does every range filter cleaning video show some modern stainless steel range with 6 months of grease? Where's the 30 year old rusted Whirpool in a cheap apartment that has cobwebs and a decades worth of dead bugs fall out? Anyone can clean a range like this...

how do you dispose of the rinsed of liquid? think it is yard friendly?

what is the cleaner that you use in cleaning these so greasy staff please ?

so what do you do if there is actually grease there. i have a multi years supply of stuck on grease.
Line your baking pan with aluminum foil for easy cleanup.

what to do with the On and Off buttons are greasy can not turn it on?
do you work for superclean? This kind of feels like an infomercial
No, this was an experiment and it fortunately worked
Can you use super clean on cleaning kitchen cabinets made from wood? Mine are greasy.
Hard to say, test a small section to see what happens
Murphy soap Will do.

is it toxic

its a japanese dish soap

That looks practically new. Try cleaning an Asian range
