Whoaaa he's HUGE! This came out super good, I'm particularly impressed with the skin and 5 o'clock shadow stuff, it's so wild how it's so simple but turns out so real and believable.
Thanks! Yeah, I really LOVE how much an inexpensive figure can be turned into something like this with some time and elbow grease, and there really are a lot of great sculpts out there that just need a little push.
Wow!! Loved every second of this video. Ibrahim you did absolutely fantastic job on this figure. I was surprised on some of the early paint work but then you explaining why your doing certain paints made it all clear. You say you dont need so much skill, but you have to know your paints and the effects it has. That's skill and knowledge!!! Your neighbour is going to love it. The Cape looks amazing and am blown away with how well the whole figure turned out. 😊❤😊
Todd! Thank you so much, my friend! Haha, true enough! Often times the "skill" part really is just knowing the easiest path to the best result, and that only comes with time and experience (and hopefully partially from a 20 minute youtube tutorial, haha). Thanks for your support as always, mate!
What an incredible effort that absolutely paid off. You took a giant mass market figure and transformed it into a Hot Toys tier presentation piece. I'll bet your friend is going to be amazed by it. Also always great to hear people giving the Snyder films a fair crack. I adore those films.
Thank you so much! He was really storied about it, and it made me really happy. And I agree- those films have really grown on me over time. I flat-out love ZSJL.
HI! Great Video one of the first ever videos about mods to a figure was precisely the one from Cosplay Chris, loved it back then but you sure make things a level higher to whatever project you take on,thank you so much for revealing your techniques, would've loved to see your neighbors reaction to it,so cool lucky guy! always looking your videos for inspiration and keep your head on Swivel my friend!!!
Carlos! Thank you so much, my friend. It means a lot! Yessir, Cosplay Chris was hugely inspirational in my early days of customizing, and he seems like a cool guy, too. Thank you, as always, Carlos!
Absolutely superb mate. You’ve taken a flat looking figure and made it look life like so you expect him to start talking and fly into action. Incredible! So very talented and it’s always a delight to see you at work and the enthusiasm you have for your craft. You’ve brightened up my dull Sunday afternoon here in England. Look forward to the next video mate, Rod 👍
Rod! Thank you so much, my friend! The long hours of making/editing these videos all becomes very much worth it when I know that kind folks such as yourself are watching them. Cheers!
@@Ibrahim_MIbrahim you absolutely killed it sir!! That muscle definition trick was really very interesting. And your “flick” technique was very cool man. Thanks again for a great video 👍🏻🤜🏻👌🏻
Haha no it's a great figure for sure, but the proportions are way off from being a more screen accurate Batfleck because of the way McFarlane makes their figures. But I'm really happy that it exists because there should absolutely be a good Batfleck figure available everywhere for a good price, and not just expensive collector figures.
I always prefer non-toxic, water soluble acrylic paint because I don't like the smell of shoe polish and all of the chemicals and staining ability, but it does work for this!
@@Ibrahim_MI apologize. There’s a TH-camr called cosplay Chris that did a couple of these a few years ago. He always uses shoe polish. I prefer acrylics and oils. Bad attempt at humor on my part. The type of thing that would cause my 9 year old daughter to roll her eyes lol. This was some beautiful work!!!
Oh, haha! No apologies necessary! Yeah, his video all those years back is what put these Jakks figures on my radar (I made sure to reference it in the opening of the video and shout him out for the inspiration), but I'd never come across one until I saw that my neighbor had one, and I was like "I gotta paint that" lol.
I have that!! I also have the superman one and I was really bummed that they chose not to do wonderwoman in the same scale even though they had her in the 18 inch versions. Ben Affleck will go down in cinema history as the ONLY actor that has played both Superman and Batman in the movies. Such a shame he wasn't able to do the batman movie as he envisioned it.
Totally agreed! Also, your comment really helped me to figure something out; I was looking for a JL Superman in this size, and what you said led me to discover that the JL figures were only made in the 19" versions, so I was searching for something that didn't exist, lol. Thank you!
@@Ibrahim_M Yeah, it was so weird that they only chose to do superman and batman in the 31 inch size but those two were from the BVS movie. The 18 inch is from the JL movie. The headsculpt of the 31 inch version is superior than the JL version. Somebody did an awesome custom paint of wonderwoman, waay back. I'll try to post the link if I ever find it.
@@amusedjester That would be great thank you, I'd love to see it. I particularly wanted the hairstyle on Superman from the JL version, so I was bummed to realize they never did that one in the 31" scale. I've thought about doing the 18" one, but it's not much bigger than an Hot Toy, which I've got, so it feels redundant. I may still try to tackle the big Superman. I have absolutely nowhere to put it but it would be fun to paint, haha.
I am just starting out with repainting my figures. When it comes to sealing the paint when completed, how do you decide what to seal with a matte and/or satin finish? Do all sealers come in a spray or do they make ones I can brush on? My apartment doesn't give me the space needed to spray so brushing would be a better option for me.
Nice! The finish is generally up to preference. I am always going for realism, so if I like a matte finish so that the figures done look like shiny plastic. But if it’s something like a marvel legend and you want to maintain that kind of sheen the plastic has, a gloss finish will help with that. For a non-spray alternative there’s a product called Mod-podge, and they make it in both finishes. It comes in a jar and looks/smells like Elmer’s glue, but it dries clear. I use that on dioramas because a spray paint will eat through the foam base- I think that’ll be what you’re looking for!
@Ibrahim_M thanks, man! On your recommendation, I picked up the Mod Podge in both finishes. As far as adding some blood for cuts and battle damage, would it be better to use a satin red so that it has a bit of a wet look? In my head, that's what I'm thinking, but I've never done this before, so I wouldn't mind another suggestion if you find the time. When it comes to the live-action DC stuff, I definitely want to go in the direction you went with this project. With the stuff from the comics, I don't mind adding my own touches to a figure. I'm going to try and do what you did here with my McFarlane BVS Batman, but only when I'm confident enough to try it. Now I'm just practicing on figures that I don't display that often.
You’re welcome! That’s a really good idea! I always recommend trying things out in a less important figure first. For blood, I like a brick red personally. I think a glossy paint has a different effect than adding a gloss to the top of it. So for blood that you want to look wet, I’d paint it with regular flat paint and then go over it with a touch of the glossy mod podge. The catch is that the paint can be scrubbed/washed off, but once you use the sealer it’s generally harder to remove. So definitely experiment with the satin red and the method I mentioned and see which you like better.
Wow! It’s a totally different animal. Awesome build 👍👍
Thank you so much! It’s so fun to see what’s under the factory paint on stuff like this 🙏🏼

Sheeeesh, man this was so satisfying to watch! Especially the skin tone repaint
Thanks so much, man! I really love how that technique starts to pay off once all off the layers are on place. I appreciate you checking it out!
Incredible work! If these were indeed based of scans of the actors in suits then I believe you. You really nailed the likeness of Ben.

I have this exact same figure as a short on my channel, the molding and detail on this figure is insane and literally paints itself 😂😂
Mine must have missed that memo because I was the one who painted it 😅
