    What would happen to the effects and the animations?

    • @techsmith
      @techsmith  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      When you import the slides, each slide comes in as an image, so the transitions and animations don't come with it. You can animate the slides in Camtasia, but not each element unfortunately. If you'd like to keep all of the transitions and animations, you can always use Camtasia to record the powerpoint as you're presenting it, rather than importing the slides. Both are good options, but function differently. I hope this helps!

    1 - What happens to the animations inside PowerPoint when you import the presentation into Camtasia this way?
    2 - I have music examples in my (music instruction) PowerPoint presentations, can the presentation be imported in a way that it automatically adjusts to the length of the music sample in the PPT and apply the standard 5 second duration on slides where there is no music sample?

      If you choose to import your slides they turn into still images and you lose your transitions and such. The best way to do what you're talking about is to do a live presentation on your screen and record it live with Camtasia instead of importing. So start by recording your full-screen, then bring up PowerPoint and click Present. When you're done you can trim the beginning and end so it looks seamless (and anything within the video can be edited as well).
      Does that make sense?

    When I import slides, they show up with dimensions of 1919x1080...why not 1920x1080? I believe this is causing a black band of 1 pixel wide to show up on the right side of my slide within Camtasia.

    • @techsmith
      @techsmith  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is odd. You can stretch it that last pixel to fit by grabbing the edge of the image and scaling up. That might slightly degrade your quality, but it should be negligible. If you'd like us to look into this problem with you, please feel free to open a support ticket and our Technical Support staff will dig into this more with you: bit.ly/ts-gethelp

    It may be easy to import Powerpoint slides into the Video but all of the previously added Powerpoint animation effects are lost.

    • @techsmith
      @techsmith  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Correct, any animations wouldn't be images so they won't import with the slides. If you want to keep all of your transitions, then you can either use Camtasia's Powerpoint toolbar to record inside of Powerpoint, or present the powerpoint and record your screen using Camtasia. This videos method is simply for importing the individuals slides and creating your presentation inside of Camtasia.

    This does not work for me with Camtasia 2019 on Mac (Mojave). Upon selecting the PPTX file, PowerPoint launches and an error message appears in Camtasia saying there was an error in PowerPoint and the slides cannot be imported. Using Office 365.

    When I import a ppt deck into Camtasia, it brings the slides in random order, not nice and neat as shown. This is a real headache when dealing with a large powerpoint!!! Using Camtasia 2020 for Mac. Painful.

      @techsmith  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, Edward! This sounds frustrating... I have not personally experienced this. Just curious if you have tried reaching out to tech support? They may be able to help: bit.ly/ts-gethelp

    • @techsmith
      @techsmith  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi again Edward, one thing we're curious about is whether this is a numbering issue. For example, if your slides numbered 1-9 don't have a zero in front of them (01, 02, etc) they may be getting mixed up with their two-digit counter-parts, so you may be seeing, "1, 10, 11, 12 -> 2, 20, 21, 22 etc". You could rename 1-9 to see if that helps.

    • @edwardschrank4803
      @edwardschrank4803 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@techsmith The order is the order of the presentation in the file. File import, media, select the file and Camtasia does its thing, which is to mix up the order. I have never seen numbers on slides other than in the slide sorter in PPT, which has numbers in the order they are arranged.

    • @techsmith
      @techsmith  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In Powerpoint typically it numbers the slides, even if in the background. The problem may be occuring in the background of both Powerpoint AND Camtasia. If it's a numbering issue that you're unaware of, and these are big presentations with lots of slides it may help to take a look at renumbering 1-9. I found this image online to show how to check if they're numbered: ptgmedia.pearsoncmg.com/images/chap3_9780789748560/elementLinks/03fig18_alt.jpg
      I know it's an extra step that shouldn't be on the user to figure out, so we have set up a conversation internally with our dev team to sort this out, but before a solve happens you'll want to try a workaround to get you where you need to be. I hope this helps.

    • @edwardschrank4803
      @edwardschrank4803 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@techsmith That was helpful, although what it shows me is that on import Camtasia is using some background number to sort, not any type of presentation order (which is what is needed). I imported a ppt deck a couple nights ago for a new project and found that if I sorted by date it put the slides back into the correct order. This is a work around and not obvious and the underlying issue should be fixed.

    Does camtasia retain the animations in the original PPT aswell?

    • @techsmith

    Please, do you have a video tutorial where you teach how to do that animation with the rectangle from the minute 1:50 to 1:57?

    • @techsmith
      @techsmith  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      We don’t, but those can be found in the Annotations tab, under Sketch Animations. Then just use a Custom Animation under the Animations tab to move it from one spot to another. (But the rectangle drawing onto the screen comes pre-animated.)

  • @WillFindlay
    @WillFindlay 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    At 1:29 it is faster just to extend the end of the image clip.

    • @techsmith
      @techsmith  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      While that's absolutely true, adjusting the duration this way solves this problem going forward if you know most of your images should be on screen for "x" amount of time. But I also extend the images for that custom solution as I edit. Thanks!

    Hi, thank you for your video. I am using powerpoint 201 6 y camtasia studio 9. When i open media bin or import, powerpoint files are not recognized as a media files, then i can choose it. the second way that you mention, drag & move, its not working too. Could you help?

    • @techsmith
      @techsmith  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is odd. It should be working for Camtasia 9. Make sure when you click Import and select your slid es that down where it says "File Name" on the right side it should say "All Media Files."
      The other option of course is that you can record your screen and present the powerpoint as you're recording (full screen) to capture your presentation.
      But the first version should work. Please contact our tech support if it still isn't working and they'll get you sorted out during the week: support.techsmith.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

      Do you mean when you import your slides?

    • @halfnhalf030387
      @halfnhalf030387 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@techsmith Correct. When you bring in the slides, they are treated as images. But a great powerpoint uses "animations" for the objects on the slide, and "transitions" from one slide to another. Currently I'll have to either try and recreate those animations/transitions, which doesn't work when using the new Zoom and Morph transitions in PPT. I end up just recording my PPT presentation and then adjusting the timing in camtasia to match the audio

    • @techsmith
      @techsmith  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      While you are correct that Camtasia cannot translate the Powerpoint transitions upon importing, you can record your desktop while presenting with transitions intact so that when you import to Powerpoint they are captured. Or you can also use Camtasia transitions, though they're likely not the same as what you had in Powerpoint, it's still another option. Good luck!
