    2:30 - First zoom (to focus the viewer's attention), then pan (to something new), and finally zoom back out (to show the recording in full).
    Perfect structure, something I'll be using plenty in Cam 2022. Thanks!

    And to Zoom out, you need to place the playhead in the end of the clip, then use the scaler slider in properties in order to apply the zoom-in effect to the picture/video, and then click on "fit to scale" button in "Zoom-n-pan" tab. Then drag the little starting point to the beginning of the picture/video, and vola!

    Neat tutorial! Is it possible to add motion blur while panning/ zooming + easy-ease the start and end points?

    • @techsmith
      @techsmith  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      While there is not a motion blur effect there is easing. Just right-click any animation on your timeline and select "Animation Easing" to choose the style you'd like to implement. They aren't customizable, though you can manipulate the beginning and end of your animation to change their speed/affect.

    This is good thank you. I want to zoom the whole video from start to finish so I have done that. Thank you. I am using an imac. Now I also want to pan the whole video slightly.(It's a video of me presenting at the office and i am off-centre My problem is i can't see the custom animation icon to do the pan over the top of the zoom animation icon. Can you help me please?

    • @techsmith
      @techsmith  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Interesting question! Once your zoom-and-pan animation is on the timeline you now have the arrow representing the start and end of your zoom, correct? Well that arrow is actually ALL animations that you want it to be. You don't need to add custom animation on top of it, because you CAN customize any animation arrow to be what you want, we just don't advertise them that way.
      So move the cursor over the end of the arrow until you see the red dot at the point and change the pan of the clip to what you would like it to end up at, and voila! Let us know if you have any other questions!

      Either make a cut so that one clip is now two, and at the beginning of the second clip you've just made change the scale in the Properties window to be zoomed in larger.
      Or, if you still want the animation but just want it a little faster, you can shorten the arrow and/or right click the arrow and choose "Animation Easing" and then "None."

    How to make cosnstant animation?

    • @techsmith
      @techsmith  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Are you referring to creating a looping animation? The trick there is just to make sure that while all of your elements are moving throughout your animation, their properties (rotation, position, scale, etc) should all end up back where they started. Then, either export as a gif, or copy/paste it to loop as many times as you like and export as an mp4.

  • @Pvpinq
    @Pvpinq 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    is there a way to skip the animation and just make it automatically zoom in

    • @techsmith
      @techsmith  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can cut the footage. Make the first clip full-size, and the second clip change the scale to however zoomed in you want it. That'd be a cut, rather than an animation/zoom.

    • @techsmith

      Yes! AND you can customize it if you don't like it. For Timeline zooming, it's the + & - keys (but don't hit shift for either). For canvas zooming, it's "CTRL +" (CMD on Mac) & "CTRL -"
      If you go into your Preferences, under Shortcuts you can find Timeline Navigation or Canvas Navigation and change them if you prefer something else.

    How far can you zoom in before the video looks blurry? The video is being recorded in 1080p? Can you set it higher? Thank you!

    • @techsmith
      @techsmith  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If this video is being recorded at 1080p, then anything over 100% is going to soften slightly. You could edit in 720p if you recorded a 1080p video and then you can zoom up to 150%, but your export will be no larger than 720p. We record tutorials with a screen resolution of 2550x1440 so that we can edit at 720p and double the size of the viewable screen.

    • @equinixproducts4503
      @equinixproducts4503 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@techsmith Thanks for the reply. So that goes with both systems? My company will be doing software demos and some people might be using Windows, while others using Mac. I have some experience working with Mac and using Quick Time's screen recording feature. The screen sizing in System Preferences seems a little arbitrary, but I find scaling it up all the way gets me a 3686x2305 video, so I can scale in another editor. Ideally, I'd want a more all-in-one solution for other people in my company who are recording demos, so I'm checking out Camtasia and giving them my feedback.

    • @techsmith
      @techsmith  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@equinixproducts4503 Well that wasn't a Camtasia solution that I was offering, that's a screen recording issue no matter what you use. Anytime you go over 100% of your original recording size it'll soften the quality. But if you record at 3686x2305 as you mentioned and edit in 1920x1080 then you can absolutely get a very crisp image when you zoom in. I hope I'm helping, but I feel like I may not be talking about the same thing you are. We have a lot of Camtasia tutorials on our channel that might answer some of this for you as well.

    how can i do a zoom in an image, and then put another image, and then the zoom is still in the new image

    • @techsmith
      @techsmith  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe you're asking about the scaling/positioning properties of a clip or image? If so, you'd put your playhead over the clip you want to emulate, right-click and select "Copy Properties" (if the playhead is over another clip this won't work), then move over the clip you want to have the same new properties, right-click and "Paste Properties." See if that does what you're looking for. You may still have to manually move the new image to where you want if it's not precisely what you wanted.
      The other thing I'm wondering is if you're talking about freezing the zoomed image, that would include using the Extend Frame tool on the zoomed clip. At the end of the clip hover over the footage you want to hold still and select the "Alt" (Option on Mac), your cursor should change to the Extend Frame cursor and you can drag it out.
      Let us know if you meant something different, and if so, can you provide an example?

    • @32luis
      @32luis 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      what i mean is, if i can zoom on a different image and then keep the zoom of that image, same position same zoom level, to another image, for example, a map that changes during the zoom, and to change the map i need to put another image to change the map, so, the zoom is still in the same position, and same zoom level, thanks for the response

    • @techsmith
      @techsmith  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That should not be a problem assuming you already have those images, you would just scale and re-position. If you can't see one layer because the top one is impairing your view, simply reduce the opacity while you're lining them up to match, then raise the transparency back up and you should be all set. Again, if you don't have Camtasia yet, you can test this functionality out during the Free Trial before committing to purchasing. www.techsmith.com/download/camtasia/
