www.stonecoatcountertops.com/ What do you like best, transparent river tables or solid metallic river tables?

    • @rustystick

      Both obviously. ..

    • @jiakabery3550

      Yes! BOTH!
For example I have a solid glass coffee table and solid glass dining table. Legs and all.
My place would be best with clear resin.
I guess the answer is both...depending on surrounding colors and materials.
Can't wait to check out your showroom. I have to plan a nice Southbound road trip.

I love that you can see the details of the beautiful wood through the epoxy. Too many times on these projects I've seen people ruin it with dark colored epoxy which hides the beauty of the wood. Great work!

Great table. I think a good thing to mention when you talk about sanding off the epoxy bumps from the bottom is to mention that we should wait until the epoxy is completely cured so you don't get hairline scratches on the top.

    Your projects are amazing!
There should be workshops all over the country where the public can pay a fee, buy a slab, epoxy, metal flakes, etc. so people can make their own tables, wall clocks, paneling for walls and even small art projects for the kids ( & kids in us), including jewelry and so on. The metal flakes, rocks, pebbles, glass, etc. and other objects, to add into the castings.
It would be incredible to have a workshop where people could pay for classes, studio/workshop time, and materials, classes, etc.
Many people don't have a garage or workshop, yet they DO want to make a table, blinds, and other projects for their homes and for gifts. Also, tools can take up a lot of room, that many people don't have, nor do they have much, if any other uses for around the house.
Having a drop-in workshop, much like a ceramics class/drop-in center, would be a great business, and a lotta fun too!

Guys, I love this video. I have a burl-wood table with a resin top that dates back to my great grandmother. It has been in my family for 50+years. Unfortunately, the resin top cracked in several areas and after I left it in my screen porch last winter. I am building my confidence watching your videos but would gladly lend the table to you for an upcoming video if you are interested. Otherwise, I will buy the kit and attempt myself.

Some of these egdes have so much character and I feel that hid them on opaque resin it's such a shame.
Not on this table, truly amazing.

Meguires #8 Mirror Glaze Mold Release Wax
    Partall Film #10-FMSC
These are used in the FRP market as mold release agents
As a substitute for silicone as a barrier you can use modeling clay around the edges.

Try "Partall 2" mold release wax, "PVA" or some other mold wax, used on molds for fiberglass part production, (at least 2 or 3 coats). Some auto waxes with Carnauba may also work. But I know the mold wax will work if applied as instructed on the package. I've worked in the fiberglass industry for over 30yrs which has included the use of epoxy resins. And have used melamine to lay-up parts, another thing you can use instead of that is MDF. Also try useing wood wedges to pull the part.

Find a cultured marble place and see what they use for wax. I worked at one years ago and they had a mold release wax that would do great. It was used before spraying the molds with gel coat before the resin marble mix was put in the mold

I love that a lighter color was used for the river but I love dark woods. That burlwood is beautiful but if it were mine I'd have to first stain it a dark cherry. A deep rich wood would really set off the lighter metallic color. But it is beautiful none the less. 😊
