    Knees together after the swing is a really important swing key for me. When I push a shot to the right (RH golfer) it's because I didn't finish my turn and my knees didn't touch after the shot. I focus on the knees touching finish in my practice swings and I am right back on track and striking the ball solid. Thanks Todd Bill! Bill from Charlotte. 7.2 HC

    I'm in AR. Our driving range has concrete pads with mats. I really appreciate your videos, especially those with tips for us experienced(senior) golfers.
    This whole weight on the lead foot is so spot on. My ball contact is so much better when I can finish on my lead foot. Unfortunately, that doesn't always happen. My finish is so often abbreviated, and I don't often finish with my hips open to the target. Maybe a flexibility issue?

    • @USGOLFTVshow
      @USGOLFTVshow  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Marty, possible. As we age, we loose flexibility and range of motion. At those times the arms become more active in the swing...not a bad thing, just something we have to be aware of. Reason why im looking up contact videos today , yesterday i was chunking most of my shots during a round …this was after weeks of hitting the range and thinking i finally had consistent contact… i realized the ranges in my area hide this fault, to a degree (they all have mats ) …so i need to work on depth control ,and mats make it difficult to guage those just ever so slightly deep strikes that during a round still fly straight ,high ,but lose 1/4 +/- of the distance … 🤷🏼‍♂️👍🏼✌️

    This is the part of my game I’m really working on. I’ll try the step drill for sure. One thing that’s helped me is moving the ball way forward but leaving the club in correct position for a few swings to get that feel of going forward. That’s added quite a bit of distance but it’s so frustrating when I still hit a fat shot 5-10% of the time cos I know exactly what the problem is

    Hi Todd I hope that you had the opportunity to see some of the USGA Adaptive Golf Tournament that was run at Pinehurst last week. Similar to a few of the golfers, I play from a seated position using a SoloRider cart. Needless to say much of what you are teaching regarding weight shift is difficult for the seated golfer. It would be great if you were able to hit a few balls from a seated cart and provide us with a few pearls of wisdom to help our game. The carts do raise you to a strapped in, partly standing position but balance and weight transfer is a challenge. Any thoughts are appreciated.

    • @USGOLFTVshow
      @USGOLFTVshow  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Glen, great post. I am not an expert in this particular area so please take this advice with a grain of salt. If the golfers are not able to shift side to side, rotation is their best option. They will want to have soft and relaxed arms to do this. I would encourage them to feel release of the arms and hands through the strike. This will make consistency more challenging, however it is the best option IMO. Hope that helps.

    Something I’ve observed about recreational golfer’s swings with poor swings that differ from good ball strikers is a lack of side-bend in their downswing. They seem to take the advice to keep the spine straight too literally and can’t intuitively connect the feeling of skipping a stone over a pond where there is lateral movement of the hips, side-bend and extension of the mass in the trail arm in the direction the ball goes with a golf swing.
    What is interesting and helpful about the side-bend move is that it can be easily coordinated independent of all the other things which happen in the golf swing. I used it at the top of my backswing, just before the club head stops moving forward to drop hands and get right arm tucked into torso. The side bend of the upper body to the right ) does not pull the body mass off balance like tilting a straight spine back \ because the right shoulder drops down and body mass and hips actually shift support forward if done correctly without movement of the head.
    To understand how to do it as I suggest try it in front of mirror staring at your face. Side bend to right without moving head and you’ll see right elbow drop straight down and connect with side and feel a lateral movement of hips to the left and straightening of left leg. Do it the same way at the top of the backswing and you will be amazed how easy it becomes to bring the club down on an ideal inside path into the ball.
    The path becomes so inside that everyone I’ve shown the move to who had not previously been doing has gone from pushing hands too far in front and slicing to the right to consistently missing to the left because out of habit they still aim for dead center in the ball + relative to target line. By working them down through their new swing very slowly I make them realize the new tighter inside path is actually bringing the club head down at an angle to the target line and swinging it closed and for that reason they need to aim and make contact inside of center to account for how face and ball on it will rotated to target before releasing. That straightens out their shots 😊

    Hello from St. Cloud FL. Great video as always. I have one issue that I wanted to get your thoughts on. My contact on full swings are not a problem for me most of the time. My problem seems to be when I have to take a 3/4 swing or so. This is where I have a tendency to hit the ground first. I notice it also happens later in a round but I just can't figure out how to correct it. Any suggestions would be greatly apprectiated. Thanks

      Great question, this is something we see often. Try this, when you finish your swing simply make sure your knees are touching and your weight is on your lead foot. This simple idea has helped many of my students.

    I'm watching in Darwin Australia. Tropical climate (wet and dry seasons only, no winter). My problem is falling forward in my follow through. Like tak1ing a step with my trail foot. How do I stop this. PS I am 73.

    Where should I be aiming at the ball. I think a lot of times I'm afraid of hitting the ground when it looks like all great shots take a divot after striking the ball.

      Dean, it can really vary from player to player. Focus on the the area more so than the ball, this will allow you to also have some awareness of your body movement which is the key.

    I struggle with any kind of hip motion forward or backwards I end up more less suee swinging. 60 years old and always struggled with that. Sometimes I'll hit a good shot but a lot of times not good shots but a lot of fat and thin depending on timing. The only way I've been able to have more consistent ball-striking is by pre-loading the left leg. I'm a right-handed golfer. I've looked at tons of videos about weight transference. As soon as I try to incorporate it I'm back at fat or thin.

    Not sure if I am 100% correct in this but Adam Baselgette off Golf Fanatics insists that that you must deloft the club (flip it) I practice this a lot and it really does give you a longer shot. My question in relation to this is if you deloft the club does it cause the ball to go left? I seem to be able to get a better strike on the ball but 3 times out of 10nI have a tendency to pull the ball left . Not a hook but left of the target just the same

    • @USGOLFTVshow
      @USGOLFTVshow  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good question, if you close the face while deloft the club yes, the ball will curve. You can learn the entire system here www.badliegolfbook.com/

    This is so me....on the course. Had 6 hours of lessons yesterday. On the range, the instructor was baffled. He said, it's an almost perfect swing. Yes, I'm self-taught. I alway wanted to be the most gracefull player, not the best. Out on the course....and I told him that....all of a sudden, crappy swing. Slice, hook, everthing. Weight on the trailing leg....again....so me. Back on the range, I quote "Poetry in motion". It's all in the head. Please, please....have You any advice, how to transfer the range results to the course....for head cases like me. It really pisses me off, that I can't transfer my results to the course. I'm so angry about myself. It's not the bad shot per se, that's part of golf. It's the unabillity to solve the problem. It's Tobi....from Germany....near Munich.

    You're doing this completely wrong. I've been playing golf for just over 2 years and have managed to get my handicap down from 25 to 20 and what you need to do is not over think your swing. Focus on hitting it as hard as possible and the swing then looks after itself. Keep things simple and you can't go wrong. Best wishes, Johnny Muscles
