As someone whose main hobby is illustrating, I’ve always thought this box art is extremely impressive. Same goes for Kunark, Velious, and Luclin. The artist is top tier

I've got a real hunger for videos on the lore of each expansion. I don't even mind if it's just speculation
I can tell you In my title Penance we WILL have media in hand and classic box art. This is such a heart braking spot for me. Why, because one of the major memories that funneled my life into game development was the ride home with your box. The art book made of silk paper with that smell so unique nothing else comes close. The pages the colors the story. Stacking the collection on my selves the whole nine. This is a memory I want people whom buy my title to have. I want them to know that moment and remember.

I wasn't 100% sure what the box art was actually about, until now. Like the actual story, but I was aware of the EQ books. Pretty deep story, indeed.

I killed Warlord Ykesha in OT. It was was 2003 or 2004 he was in one of those Crypt bunker things. I was upset because he had the same name as that expansion and didn't drop anything
I’m catching up on all the podcasts, and loved this one! I use EQ’s expansion box art as my desktop wallpaper, but haven’t been able to find the full Ruins of Kunark image at a decent resolution. If anyone can point me to a good link, I’d greatly appreciate it! 😊
Your lore videos are fantastic, really makes me wish I could experience these GM events through a p99 or actually real classic darkpaw progression
The dragon on classic is, according the the FVproject page,
"Who is the dragon featured on the EverQuest Box? The Dragon is named Zavo`Zatanov. She helped to recover the Crystal Claw of Veeshan from the treacherous Lady Vox, and helped to perform the ritual which tore the veil separating the Norrath from the Plane of Sky. She often appears as a High Elf, as she finds the arrogance of the Koada`Dal amusing but respects the beauty of that "lesser race"."
Seemed legit as I've seen the name referenced before so thought I'd throw it out there.
Yeah I think I mention Zavo in this video but she is described as being part of a trio of dragons which are Blue Green and Black which was why I assumed this was Nagafen.
@@FacelessZaide I remember reading that too. I assumed that the artist wasn't told that or it was retconned later on or something. I don't know exactly where the FVproject page got it's information so cup of salt and all that. Good vid though. I enjoyed it immensely.
All this time I thought that wizard was Al'Kabor. And I was right!
I met the game cover model of FV at the 2002 Dallas EQ FF event. Very cool person.
This is awesome. Besides FV I thought these were just random NPCs to showcase EQ classes.

Who is the elf on the cover of the RPG Game Master Guide?
I believe the High Elf we see on the cover of the Game Masters Guide is Opal Darkbriar. She is a dark elf Necromancer guildmaster in East Freeport who uses an artifact to pose as a high elf wizard guildmaster in West Freeport. We see her here mid transformation. Alternatively it could just be a Dark Elf Enchanter mid illusion into a High Elf.

Vie like sky, I can see. Vie like ski, I can see. But why so many of you hate the "i" after "Fir" in Firiona, I don't understand.... how does the second "i" become silent? Great video - Other than the forced confrontation of personal pronunciation demons (this is my issue, not anyone else's).
I pronounce it like Fury-Ona ever since I was 11 years old.
