This is actually a lot more environmental friendly then a brush pile. A brush pile is really easy to get tangled up in causing a cluster of broke lines hooks and lead to build up. Many times its after the fish has already had the hook set in its mouth. So now the fish has a hook in its mouth all tangled up in a brush pile waiting on certain death. Many Turtles and other aquatic life end up getting tangled and die also. This type of system allows the hook to simply slide off the PVC with a simple tug. It makes for a great habitat for many species that lasts for many years.
I want to create a bunch of these for Lake Ray Hubbard near Dallas to create some for crappie. It sounds like a wonderful project. How about an update to see if helped actually catch more fish!
How much concete did you put in? It would not take much to make it very heavy. What you could also do is take a brick or some broken concrete chucks and put that into the bucket. Dont need much weight to make them sink.
Great video. Be careful what lakes you place them. In some states it is considered littering. Legally you can't place them in any US Corps of Engineer lakes.
Our US Corps of Engineer has a lake day in March when the lake is at its lowest and passes out material so you can go and put structure anywhere in the lake so you will know where to fish it.
I've read somewhere that pvc doesn't show up as good on your DI. Is this true? I can see how that would be good in some ways because it would make it harder for others to find your condos.
hey barry, do you remember when you came and fished lake fort phantom in abilene texas, and some guy yelled at you from the bank while you were filming ? that was me, iv watched your show for a long long time and am a huge fan, i just wanted to say hello and get a autograph and maybe a pic. hope there are no hard feelings for me messing up your filming and i hope you caught a few !
How does it pollute? Do you call sinking ships for Artificial reefs polluting the Sea? It creates environment for reproduction of fish. There will be fish taken from the structures, but they also offer protection for smaller fish that will be in able to grow, therefore increasing production of a species.Your comment is understandable, but uninformed.
Decades of fish attractors that's why! You pull up most States fish and wildlife videos of fish habitat that they put in the water and you will find that most if not all states use PVC. Less tax dollars in the end and they last forever. Why would you use trees?
@@27lebs the fish n game departments are the ring leaders in putting pvc fish attractors in the lakes. Why would anyone argue with experts is beyond me... SMH
Its not trash! Pull up many fish n wildlife fish attractors and you will see they are made of PVC! Less tax dollars in the long run and decades of fish habitat. Do your homework and you'll see that this is far better than putting a bunch of brush in the lake. Fish and wildlife does this on a much larger scale in most States.
Also, brush piles cause many many lines to get snagged and broke off causing a huge mess. The PVC allows the majority of hooks to simply slide off without having to break the line. That's why they are curved up the way they are. I've fished many of these and they are much more environmental friendly in the long run.
Why would you litter the bottom of a lake with that junk when natural resources are available. It's crap like this that give sportsman a bad name. You said yourself this stuff never rots. How do you expect the ecosystem to last if you keep ruining it and piling junk into it? Bad move man. A private pond is a different story but not in public waterways.
Fox Sports Outdoors You're absolutely right and I spoke out of place. My apologies. We're all entitled to our opinions and mine was wrong. Good luck to you sir.
Then you are not using them in the right spots. These store-bought porcupines that are not built near as well that are made for fish attractors. Work Wonderful. These work even better. Was your buckets new or did you have something in the bucket before you s u n k them in the water. If you had something in those buckets prior 2 sinking them. You may should have cleaned them out well. They may be giving off some type of Center something that the fish just don't like
What a waste of money! Why is there always that one guy that makes something so easy and cheap, complicated and expensive? Hope you don’t put those things in less than 20 foot of water. Just a matter of time before some water skier falls in the wrong place and gets skewered by a 6 foot piece of PVC.
Wow! That almost doesn't deserve a reply. Pull up your state fish and wildlife habitat sinking program or whatever they call it in your state and you will find that they use PVC!
Got any evidence of just how the plastic pipes and buckets will hurt the water and the fish? Quit looking for attention. Since that's all that your looking for. If you don't like it don't even comment.
Excellent video. Exactly like the structure we built years ago. And they're still there, producing great habitat

Do you rough the pvc before dropping in water?

Sand the pipe for better algae growth.
This is so awesome but many states its illegal on public lakes. Why I have no idea?
What communist state do you live in that you can't make fish attractors? Come to America my friend!
I’ve made a couple of these and my problem is the poly pipe comes out of the bucket holes too easy did you glue yours in?
Great video. Be careful what lakes you place them. In some states it is considered littering. Legally you can't place them in any US Corps of Engineer lakes.
Not ture you can place them in some coe lakes it just depends on that districts policies

How much would u say 1 of these cost to make ?
I built them for between 10 and $15 if I bought the buckets they cost around 15 if I had the buckets given to me they cost around 10
can I legally put these in a state park lake?
that drill needs to take a break
how much concrete
Now what would happen if we all polluted the lakes

Sinking my Xmas today. Buying all that PC and ABS plastic is not good. Go to the landfill if you want to use plastic material.
Why don't people just use trees....
Ian McGonigal Trees will deteriorate and break down eventually, but these structures will last forever and be constant structure
