“BAD” IS TRULY A MASTERPIECE! Great production, great aesthetic. This album perfectly displays MJ as a superstar. Most of the songs also had a deeper meaning. MJ also wrote 10 out of the 11 songs meaning he had creative control. All his albums are masterpieces it’s phenomenal😇😌🙌🏽👑💖💕(When BAD was released it was the second best selling album of all time. Regarding his costumes. It was designed by Michael Bush and Dennis Tompkins. Michael’s personal costume designers and dressers for Michael. That relationship began in 1985 right up to until his death in 2009. The thriller jacket was made by Deborah Nadoolman Landis, John Landis’s (Thriller short film director) wife at the time.

Come on! The bad shortfilm has NOWHERE near more influence than the thriller shortfilm. Thrillers cultural impact is absolutely unrivaled. Bad was great but it had almost no impact or influence compared to the thriller film.

He is also an amazing beatboxer, he could reproduce the sounds of any musical instruments. This is why when he had a song in his mind, he could flawlessly sing the parts for each musician to perform on the record.
Michael didn’t just make music videos, he made epic productions! He stood out for having these videos that were more like short films. I’m curious as to how much this video cost. You have a well known actor in it, exceptional dancers, as you said an excellent costumer and choreographer, and most likely a big crew. Did the record label pay for the entire video or did Michael front some of his own money? You just don’t see video masterpieces like this anymore.
Wesley wasn't a well known actor at the time this is where he got his start. You also didn't mention, maybe because you didn't know, that this was directed by Martin Scorsese who's one of the best film makers ever (Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, Goodfellas, The Wolf of Wall Street)
mj was a true genius artist none invested so much in clips to the point of calling big names in cinema like spike lee, Steven Spielberg, John Landis, Scorsese among others to direct their clips, it's no wonder that the format of clips he idealized is the standard until today.

Great reaction Seph. The BAD video was directed by Martin Scorsese! Some of the dance moves were copied from those used in the West Side Story film. There are only two songs on the album that don’t have official videos…so plenty more amazing ones to watch. :)

Greetings from germany from a huge Michael Jackson fan (for 31,5 years now). I'm happy and so thankful that I had the chance to see Michael live in concert twice very close. I attented his first concert of the History Tour in Prague. Almost 130.000 people (more than the half from Germany) and I made it till the first few rows between the stage and the left video wall. I was also in Leipzig (60.000 people). I made it even till the first row/middle. Unfortunately I passed out right after Black Or White. It's a bit exasperating... There were only 3 songs left. The next day I was exhausted and totally hoarse... I will never forget these two incredible days.

Michael Lee Bush is MJs clothing designer so you can thank him for all of MJs cool clothes he wore over the years. This was when MJ was Unstoppable. His videos or as he called them Short term movies were a Primetime event when they were released. Here in the US one or more of the networks would air his "video" at the same time.

Okey first of all bad album shows different sides of Michael, he became more aware of his power and mature as an artist, dancer , song writer, producer ,concerts director and of course as a man . This album has 5 no. 1 singles . New album! I love this song and like you said it's a great start to the album. As you can see, his music videos are literally short films. You must know that Michael and the other dancers only had 2 days to prepare the choreography, 2 DAYS! And it's amazing that this masterpiece came out! The part of Wesley Snipes actually had to be done by Prince but he didn't want to because he wasn't comfortable being the object of the single's sensual first line, “Your butt is mine.” haha. There was a great rivalry between him and Michael at the time. Prince literally told this thing in an interview: “You run that video in your mind,” Prince told Rock. “The first line in that song is, 'your butt is mine' so I was saying, 'Who gonna sing that to whom? Because you sure ain't singing it to me, and I sure ain't singing it to you.' So right there we got a problem.". Precisely for this reason, Prince wanted to rewrite the lyrics of the song but in the end all this was not done. To answer your question about the part of the song, it says, "And The Whole World Has To Answer Right Now Just To Tell You Once Again, Who's Bad." Like you said, the song conveys a message of confidence and self-worth, Michael sings about being "bad", meaning he doesn't let himself be bullied and knows how to stand up for himself. In many ways, he was a real "gangsta", because he was himself, he was his own man, when it's so easy to follow other people. In my perspective I think that was his whole point with Bad, that to truly be "bad" in the urban sense means to be your own man and live life in your own way. Oh, Seph. I've said it before, but it is worth repeating. I friggin adore your wardrobe and grooming dissections. And you give me all the elements I love, here. The softened voice, head tilt, the trance-like facial expression. (12:28) Michael is always such a great subject for your costume analysis. Please, never stop this practice. In fact, I just had an idea. There are loads of ASMR and unboxing style videos on TH-cam, none of which I watch, however. I would absolutely love it if you did your own version of this type of thing. What makes this sort of thing work is your voice, your accent, and your genuine expressive nature. Do you know what I mean? I too love all the over-the-top, almost ridiculous, whip-snapping sounds. Especially when you snap your arm in-sync with them. "Twinkle toes, man. I love that!" (20:40) This made me chuckle. "Twinkle toes" used to be an expression to refer to a skilled dancer, but now it's almost always used to refer to an effeminate gay man, especially during my youth. It's probably fallen out of fashion for that purpose as well now.
ever since i was younnnnggggg i have always enjoyed Fashion and have paid attention to what people wear, men women i didn't care! BUT! When it comes to myself i'm verrryyyyyy lazy. I have worn the same pair of Jeans for 3 years? I own one hoodie and like 3 t-shirts? I'm freakin terrible when it comes to myself and i'm actually disgraced in myself! But you show your individuality in other ways, like in the styling of your hair and beard, which changes frequently, along with your background image. And I particularly like your top hat, which seems to have gone missing of late. I don't think many could pull that hat off, but on you it looks completely natural, adding to your unique character. I know that Sammy had a lot of interesting ideas about colors that she thinks would work for you. Colors could be an interesting enhancement to your current jeans/t-shirt/hoodie style.

Michael Bush and Dennis Tompkins were Michael Jackson personal costume designer and dressers. I am not 100% sure if they did this outfit, there’s a book out there called “The king of style” by Bush but it’s pretty expensive so happy I got mine before the prices went up on them 😅

MJ also wrote 10 out of the 11 songs meaning he had creative control. All his albums are masterpieces it’s phenomenal😇😌🙌🏽👑💖💕(When BAD was released it was the second best selling album of all time. So Michael didn’t just have the best selling album of all time, he used to also have the second best selling album of all time too!)

That relationship began in 1985 right up to until his death in 2009. The thriller jacket was made by Deborah Nadoolman Landis, John Landis’s (Thriller short film director) wife at the time.

He is also an amazing beatboxer, he could reproduce the sounds of any musical instruments. This is why when he had a song in his mind, he could flawlessly sing the parts for each musician to perform on the record.
Michael didn’t just make music videos, he made epic productions! He stood out for having these videos that were more like short films. I’m curious as to how much this video cost. You have a well known actor in it, exceptional dancers, as you said an excellent costumer and choreographer, and most likely a big crew. Did the record label pay for the entire video or did Michael front some of his own money? You just don’t see video masterpieces like this anymore.
Wesley wasn't a well known actor at the time this is where he got his start. You also didn't mention, maybe because you didn't know, that this was directed by Martin Scorsese who's one of the best film makers ever (Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, Goodfellas, The Wolf of Wall Street)

mj was a true genius artist none invested so much in clips to the point of calling big names in cinema like spike lee, Steven Spielberg, John Landis, Scorsese among others to direct their clips, it's no wonder that the format of clips he idealized is the standard until today.

The BAD video was directed by Martin Scorsese! Some of the dance moves were copied from those used in the West Side Story film.
There are only two songs on the album that don’t have official videos…so plenty more amazing ones to watch. :)

Greetings from germany from a huge Michael Jackson fan (for 31,5 years now).
I'm happy and so thankful that I had the chance to see Michael live in concert twice very close. I attented his first concert of the History Tour in Prague. Almost 130.000 people (more than the half from Germany) and I made it till the first few rows between the stage and the left video wall.
I was also in Leipzig (60.000 people). I made it even till the first row/middle. Unfortunately I passed out right after Black Or White. It's a bit exasperating... There were only 3 songs left. The next day I was exhausted and totally hoarse...
I will never forget these two incredible days.

Glad you watched the long version of Bad. This was Wesley Snipes 1st big break in the business. This is based on a true story but Daryl gets killed. Michael Lee Bush is MJs clothing designer so you can thank him for all of MJs cool clothes he wore over the years. This was when MJ was Unstoppable. His videos or as he called them Short term movies were a Primetime event when they were released. Here in the US one or more of the networks would air his "video" at the same time.
I also recommend watching the documentaries Michael Jackson's Journey From Motown to Off The Wall (speaking of which, it's Off The Wall's anniversary today!) And Bad 25 (released for the 25th anniversary of Bad.) It was the 40th anniversary of Thriller last year and a documentary based on the Thriller album is coming out at some point this year. Maybe you could react to them and just split them into parts

Oh my god, u moved to bad album what a surprise 🎉🎉. Okey first of all bad album shows different sides of Michael, he became more aware of his power and mature as an artist, dancer , song writer, producer ,concerts director and of course as a man . This album has 5 no. 1 singles .
Then some facts about the song .
1) they were shooting in true locations in this short film and in the making Michael was angry as he saw an ill man living there as he felt sorry for him and this appeared obviously when he was having fight with his friends as this is the only time i see Michael shout .
2) the costume: was a leather jacket which became a fashion icon after that but the more cool was the zibbers that were sold in local shop and Michael like it so much soo he baught a lot of them and used them all as u can see 😂😂😂
3) this was Michael's choreography but he needed a street dancers and played the song in front of them and make something like a dance battle between him and them to get the best moves fo the video
4 ) this music video was supposed to be duet between Michael and Prince but prince refused

New album! I love this song and like you said it's a great start to the album. As you can see, his music videos are literally short films. You must know that Michael and the other dancers only had 2 days to prepare the choreography, 2 DAYS! And it's amazing that this masterpiece came out! The part of Wesley Snipes actually had to be done by Prince but he didn't want to because he wasn't comfortable being the object of the single's sensual first line, “Your butt is mine.” haha. There was a great rivalry between him and Michael at the time. Prince literally told this thing in an interview: “You run that video in your mind,” Prince told Rock. “The first line in that song is, 'your butt is mine' so I was saying, 'Who gonna sing that to whom? Because you sure ain't singing it to me, and I sure ain't singing it to you.' So right there we got a problem.". Precisely for this reason, Prince wanted to rewrite the lyrics of the song but in the end all this was not done. To answer your question about the part of the song, it says, "And The Whole World Has To Answer Right Now Just To Tell You Once Again, Who's Bad." Like you said, the song conveys a message of confidence and self-worth, Michael sings about being "bad", meaning he doesn't let himself be bullied and knows how to stand up for himself. In many ways, he was a real "gangsta", because he was himself, he was his own man, when it's so easy to follow other people. In my perspective I think that was his whole point with Bad, that to truly be "bad" in the urban sense means to be your own man and live life in your own way. He was being tough and hard in his own unique fashion, that's brilliant, the video is awesome!!

The softened voice, head tilt, the trance-like facial expression. (12:28) Michael is always such a great subject for your costume analysis. Please, never stop this practice. In fact, I just had an idea. There are loads of ASMR and unboxing style videos on TH-cam, none of which I watch, however. I would absolutely love it if you did your own version of this type of thing. ever since i was younnnnggggg i have always enjoyed Fashion and have paid attention to what people wear, men women i didn't care! BUT! When it comes to myself i'm verrryyyyyy lazy. But you show your individuality in other ways, like in the styling of your hair and beard, which changes frequently, along with your background image. Michael Bush and Dennis Tompkins were Michael Jackson personal costume designer and dressers. I am not 100% sure if they did this outfit, there’s a book out there called “The king of style” by Bush but it’s pretty expensive so happy I got mine before the prices went up on them 😅

Omg this video is awesome, Michael's videos are really like movies, no one does that anymore, videos that are actually well produced and tell a story, it's sad... I wonder why? Is it lack of creativity? I think artsts nowadays are afraid of the duration maybe? I guesa that's what I like about Michael, he didn't care how long it was and did what he wanted to do :)
