Hi TimJ - great tutorial really interesting for a novice like myself. Many thanks again for your great content! The min Max node you put in looks very useful and I can't find the download link you were talking about - where can i find it?

Thanks for the positive feedback James! The Min max Node you can find on Gumroad, the Link to my Gumroad is in the description! :)

@@timjdesign ah yes thanks so much :) I'll have a mess around. I am used to taking all my houdini projects into c4d and losing the possibility of applying materials to specific attributes so I'll try the rest of tutorial out now :)

Really incredible and to the point - and another amazing end result!
I've watched a few of your tutorials and see you use the Smooth node after converting a vdb to polygons. Is there a specific reason you go this way instead of using smooth sdf / smooth vdb before converting to polygons?
Also be amazing if you did a tutorial moreso on just how you think / look at Houdini when you start something new, because really it is incredible what you create but I'd love to be able to figure things from scratch vs just following step by step all the time (even if the end results or so incredible!)

Thank you so much for the positive feedback! Yeah that would be cool, like a process series? With different ideas / inspiration?
And yes I use smooth because sometimes with the vdb smooth you will loose connectivity on smaller pieces.

@@timjdesign Yeah exactly. I mean you make Houdini seem so easy and efficient but when I see a blank window I don't even know where to begin with nodes. Like even reducing a popnet down to create a trail or using a grid to build off of - I would never have thought that way but now I see It.
Maybe a series on the 'building blocks' within Houdini and how to add a vop and/or point wrangle to really push it beyond that basic element? Not saying it is 'paint by numbers' and always follows that methodology but just ways you look at things when you begin and how to get a few steps beyond basic items.
Also bought all your cg circuit tuts so can't wait to dig into those!!

First thank you for the support!
Yeah, I will do it! Just need to get a script / planning started.
      Maybe in January.

One of the things I really like about your tutorials is watching you follow through and render it out, you get good results so quickly!
I am curious about your Redshift render view. I don't have a "set focus" button anywhere, is that only Windows?

    • @timjdesign

Thank you so much for the positive feedback!
You will get it with the newest experimental version of redshift!

@@timjdesign Ah I didn't realize there were beta builds. Gonna install it right now, that one button will save me so much time.

great tut as always ! can u pls say - do i need vex to learn houdii efficiently - im just starting and have blender background - already 3-4 month trying to understand the main concepts and not rushing into complex things - what do you think and what advice can u give on starting? thanks a lot))

    • @timjdesign
      @timjdesign  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Thanks for the feedback! In my opinion you don't need vex to stard Houndini, you can do anything of this in Vops too. Sometimes Vops are way more powerful, for example Noises. I think a good starting advise is to do little setups in the beginning and then go further and further. :)

@@timjdesign thanks for reply! So i should watch and repeat tutorials ?) Houdini is kinda different from blender where you can just explore every button ) im afraid to get stuck in houdini - so thats the point

You are welcome, yeah just try different nodes and so on. I began my journey just with RnD. It'd a pretty long learning curve, you never will know anything about Houdini, try to specialize in a direction.
