    Good info, it helps to get an idea of costs. The part about cleaning supplies was especially helpful. Everyone's situation will be different. For instance, we are on a well and don't have a water bill. However I pay for electricity to power my well, and that will run more so I will see added power bill and wear and tear on the well equipment.
    Also, I wonder if people talking about utilities going sky high are thinking of how it was before more energy efficient equipment came along. Nowadays, standard pool equipment is very energy efficient.

    Hi Norma, great video! Thanks for the information you share. I am thinking of getting a pool build in my house, and I have two questions; what is the size of your pool and how depth is it? I had several recommendations for the depth but not sure yet. I was thinking to start mine from 3.5 ft to 5.5? I want to be able to use the whole pool with no discomfort or sinking myself. I am 5'9.

      Hi there! Thanks, so we also wanted to
      Utilize the entire pool without having a deep end where no one will spend time in. We did what you call volleyball style some both ends start at 4 and the middle is 5.5. We are tall, I’m 5’8 and eventually the kids will grow lol we started at 4 since we always seem to squad at other pools that start at 3.5 which is the standard starting point. We wanted the water right at our chest or below without having to squad down🙂 the entire pool measures at 35x15 and the spa is for up to 12 adults. Good luck to you, you won’t regret building a pool! 🙂

      My pleasure! Negativity was all we heard, it’s totally not like that with us lol everyone has their own opinions but for us it has been the best thing! We’ll as you know here in Texas mosquitoes are bad lol we haven’t noticed a different but the pool does attract a lot of of other bugs! Hello, Norma,
    I heard pebble was one of the best but that’s an opinion. What made y’all go with the other style pool and if possible what was the original cost? Did y’all have re-install sod? Was your pool higher and did they have to adjust your back yard at a higher level? How did y’all manage your pool during the freeze? Did y’all keep the pump running?

    • @normavargass
      @normavargass  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hello, so I had a vision of how I wanted the pool designed and at our first consultation with the pool contractor they drew it out for us and looked just how I imagined it. They give you options and recommendations, ours was perfect but we needed a retaining wall / back wall since our backyard had a slope. There was no need to adjust our backyard. We did not reinstall grass we added garden rock all around. During the freeze we kept our pumps running and water features on all the time and everything went well, thankfully! 🙏🏼 plaster is economical, the only con is susceptible to discoloring and staining. With proper maintenance it can last up to 25 years. Pebble tec is rough although very durable we don’t like how it feels on skin and damages swim wear. We have friends with pebble tec and we always have to wear swim shoes or we get cuts. Total cost for pool was $65k

    What city in Texas are you in? What was the overall cost of construction? I’m considering purchasing around the Houston area. Houses with pools seem to charge quite a premium. Wondering if its best to buy one without a pool and then build a pool later.

    • @normavargass
      @normavargass  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I’m in the Houston area, as of now your best would probably be buying a house with a pool in my opinion. Pool prices have spike quite a lot, I mean homes have too but to build a pool is ridiculous pricing from what I’ve heard. This company was Casey’s Pools. Luckily everything turned out well and have enjoyed our pool and spa so much. A pool just like ours is now priced at 98k from the exact same company.
