  • Today let's a look at one of our Hotest, sexiest and newest ISOPODS, Merulanella sp. DIABLO. These guys looks like FORMULA 1 race cars!
    We will also discuss in depth the changes in our ISOPOD care philosophy.
    We've learnt so much in the past couple of years that the understanding we have now on their care is vastly different from where we started.
    Yes some basic starter ISOPODS such as dairy cows, zebras etc... may very well do fine with our old school ways.
    If you are wanting to take a leap into some of the newer, sexier, highly coveted species such as many Cubaris types and Merulanellas then we have to make some more changes to truly be successful.
    I hope you'll join me today as we discuss the philosophy and setup these incredible new Merulanella sp. DIABLO ISOPODS.
    Thanks for watching my friends also a massive shout out and thank you to JERIMIAH TOOLE for gifting me this incredible culture.
    Cheers!
    Biggs

    🤔 How has the layer of coral sand on the bottom of your isopod bins worked? I'm interested because I'm gathering components for my first isopod bins. Looking forward to your next isopod update!

    I have the tarantula you featured, such a beatyful animal. Diablo would be my number one choice of the merulanella species. They are all gorgeous, but looking at my income Ember bees are more likely to happen.... but if one with ALL species were to say pick one its yours, it would be the diablo

    Ahhh Diablos look awesome. I need those. I dont sterliise my leaf litter either. if the armadilliums in my garden in England think it's ok then I am steling it as it is. Coral sand. crumbles cuttlefish too. all good. and - I drop a koi food stick or two in weekly - gone by morning

      Something I and a lot of other people do is submerge the leaf litter in a bucket of water for a few days or weeks. The leaves will get slimy and smelly and have lots of nutritious microorganisms that isopods absolutely devour. The water also kills pests like centipedes and spiders so it’s a win win situation.

    Do you ever have to change out some of the substrate with isopods in a planted nature inspired setup? If you do how so?

    Why is coir so bad? Some of the Asian sp. may already live in and or near it?

    • @themadaquaristsrealmnatura2556
      @themadaquaristsrealmnatura2556  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It’s completely inedible so offers nothing of value to the animal or enclosure. Better options available

    • @siyg
      @siyg 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It isn’t necessarily harmful to isopods but they can’t eat it so your better of using organic compost or something because it’s cheaper and nutritious.
