The Beatle Drum set the one Ringo used on the early Beatle hits, is the centerpiece of the show, and will likely hit a million dollars, or close.

I wish I could be there . I would love to have just one item that belonged to Ringo. I bid online and I can only hope and pray! Love this video. Love you, Ringo, since 1964! Peace and Love from Florida. xo

Pete Best actually plays on the record shown at 0:31.

      horowizard : Actually, no.

@@ArkyMalarkey Oh, yes. Money and Sure To Fall were 2 of the 15 songs recorded at the Decca audition on January 1st, 1962 in London before Ringo joined the group. They did record Money with Ringo for their second album but the version shown at 0:31 is with Pete Best on Drums.

@horowizard : I stand corrected, good observation on your part. That sleeve flashed by so fast, I didn't notice it was one of those unofficial singles released 1976 on colored vinyl.

What happens to the proceeds from the 'Ringo' auction? Does Starr need the dough or is it going to charity?

I see people change their sense of glomming on to stuff as they get older.
Also, Ringo's done a whole ton of stuff, had a whole life, he's probably more interested in the stuff he's doing now than the stuff he did sixty years ago. I have a friend who likes to half-tease "yeah, but what have you done lately?" Ringo is doing, not resting on a single laurel from his childhood. You know the guy who sits around the bar going on about the time he threw the winning touch down in the semi-finals in high school; that's not Ringo.
AND... he lived it, he played that drum, he owns a copy of the record. Most people upgrade. Guitar players? They can hang up on the wall. Ringo can't really hang up whole kits on the wall. "Well, it is the special one he could put it right there and see it." It's a drum kit. Who wants to skirt around a drum kit on the way to the kitchen? And vacuum around it. And STOP KNOCKING OVER THE HIGH HAT, ZACK! Stupid kids be running about the place alla time. And when you look at it, what do you see? A drum kit. In need of a bath. "wow, a drum kit. looks like... my other drum kits". But the memories! I have them without it.
And if he kept everything that was of significance... He's Ringo Starr, he'd have three steamer trunks full of nothing but Ringo's y-fronts. Lurking. In the dark. In some unknown warehouse in Century City.
And somewhere there's somebody who would treasure it more than the guy who replaced it five times with just the Beatles. Where should be put the "Octopus's Garden" kit? The "Elanor Rigby" kit?
Which brings more joy to the world :
      - Oh, here's that kit I played sixty years ago when I was just coming up. It was pretty cool at the time.
      - And here in my Ringo Shrine I have 37 bobbleheads praying at the alter of the "He Loves Me" drum kit. I call it that because I know Ringo really loves me. AND Ringo can settle a law suit, or help the National Trust or whatever he does with the money that...
...and here's the real answer to the question...
He values the money (what he's going to do with the money) more than he values the kit.
That's economics 101. People act. People engage in a transaction because they think it will make them better off.
You want a much better question?
Who would pay THAT MUCH for that crappy old drum kit?

If the drum kit means so much why doesn't he bloody keep then. Not as if he needs the money.
