      @rickyyang3357 I grew up in Indiana and have a buddy who was a heavy equipment operator. He made a pond that was 35 ft deep and put walleye, crappie, bass and some cats. All sorts of structure, with a man made creek running into it. It has a pump and takes pond water to the top of the little creek where there's a small "pool" which fills and spills down the creek. I have to say I was a bit jealous when I visited.

    Since your pond is a man-made water feature, I would suggest building a bio-filter between the new bait pond/utility pond and the main pond.
    All you need to do is built the new pond on higher ground; with rocks to create an aerating cascade and a shallow section for trees, shrubs and grasses that live in or next water.
    The water cascade would oxygenate water while the wooded swap would filter nutrients to prevent algal blooms.
    Maybe make more wooded islands so ducks can shelter on at night.
    A bio-filter swap would encourage frogs, freshwater crayfish and other fish that could help your bass pond ecosystem.
    This would encourage a greater diversity of wildlife.
    The utility pond feed source needs to come from the opposite side of where the water came from.

    New pond idea. If you do some water features like a waterfall, you could use flagstone (large flat stones a few inches thick) and carry that feature out to the edge of the bigger pond such that you have some nice flat ledges that stick out for the bass to hang out underneath during the heat of the summer.

    • @ryanvess6162
      @ryanvess6162 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      In the heat of the summer shade doesn't cut it. The water temperature is the problem. Bass will always hug the bottom of the deepest part of a pond when it's warm

    I am SUPER excited to watch your Aquascape pond build. I really enjoyed the videos of the one they did at your house. I can't wait for this! One thing to think about with your new pond: deer. I built a pond in my backyard and was so excited to watch the wildlife visit it. They do visit - and they eat everything. I don't mind sharing but the deer eat EVERYTHING before it can get established. Just something to consider as you plan the new pond out on the farm. You have so many deer!

    The duck decoy surfer bird, is a gull billed tern. The bird is in migratory plumage. When breeding they have a defined black cap. Will always have a stout black bill. The common tern is sharper and thinner with bright yellow and orange bill.

    Figuring out how to have planted areas would be very very neat, they are both so beautiful and allow you to better support wildlife since it's more like a natural environment. Plants growin up out of the water really help support amphibians and give waterbirds a place to nest.
    Keep consulting local biologists/ecologists about how to beat support the critters near you! They seem to have given pretty good advice so far.

    • @solution4551
      @solution4551 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe a biologist told him to not put plants in the water, but he didn't say why. I'm assuming it is to keep pond-maintenance lower. I agree with you though!

      @@solution4551 I thought that was to reduce nutrient competition for the algae?

    • @angguaa
      @angguaa ปีที่แล้ว

      @@doesnotexist6524 I don't think that would be SUCH a big problem, but maybe. I think the main reason was the maintenance, because plants would spread and he didn't want to be bothered by keeping them under control. Personally I think it absolutely is doable, it just requires effort. He was talking about how people are putting poison in the water to kill the vegetation off, but to me that's absolutely lazy solution. You absolutely can just mechanically pull the plants out, if they overgrow. I've done it myself many times on large bodies of water. So....I don't think there really is any good reason to not have plants around the pond other then not wanting to maintain them. Especially seeing how much money he's just pouring in all the time on various stuff and toys...

    The dark areas on the moon are mares which are remnants of geologic activity. Lava cool and made large smooth areas. Its cool to see all the craters and where the debris projected out of them

    That blue color of the pond looks really good. I am guessing that it is from some of the things you have added to the pond. Have good days!

    I would love to hear you do commentary on your fishing. Watching your bass fishing technique is awesome!

    For the new pond, a flowing stream alongside the waterfall for an extended length would be pretty cool. And maybe more overhanging plants around the pond like some persimmons and willows

    The cold snap killed off the alge then it all sunk to the bottom, clearing your pond. The wildlife there is awesome.

    We have a blue heron thats frequented our pond for almost a decade. They are fun to watch hunt for fish.

    Having bald eagles on that property and using that pond as a food source is one of the coolest things you can have in your backyard, aside from the pond itself of course.

    For the pond like a rock wall with tunnel type holes in it or like small caves would be sick

    some kind of glass portal/viewing point to see into the water would be cool. like an aquarium glass wall or something like that

    For “b” on the spreadsheet you should name it BPS for bass pro shops. Love the videos ❤

    I went to sleep 7 am because I spent the whole night watching this man build a large ass pond. And I do not regret it lol

    It would be awesome if the new aquascape pond still overflowed into the main pond, adding additional O2 and current for the bass to stack up at, and the potential for some of the bait to slowly make their way downstream to the main pond with the bass.

    Loving the update! Living the dream mate! Have you thought about putting a bird shelter in the middle of the island? Might be good for the ducks :)

    That's a nice pond I always wanted to build a pond like that but twice the size and depth. The best way to prevent big birds from eating my fish is to place lots of large rocks and logs for a hideout.

    I truly am loving the transformation of your beautiful pond and all the community creatures! It's cool that the birds and ducks can get a better view into the water after the freeze. That darn Herring tho! I would love to take my grandsons to fish it one day. With admiration from Colorado 💛💙❤️

    I fly fish for trout on gin clear lakes in the Province of British Columbia near Kamloops. It is much like Bone fishing the flats of tropical islands. Sight fishing is tough but so rewarding!

    Maybe an aerial shot and an over lay of what your initial, like layout,size and location to the big pond would help.
    I'm having trouble imagining what you have in mind.
    Not much of an outdoorsman but I'm big fan. I been following this build since day one, every single video. You're awesome.

    An overflow from the bait pond to the main pond could be cool, so you can release the bait fish through a stream to the pond when needed
