(RT351 with amplifier) PRC 352 setup on frame with crank generator, 1Ah battery and SURF

Here I show You setup of RT 351 (PRC351) converted to PRC 352 because of added amplifier. Also You can see hand crack generator, 1Ah battery and SURF unit all combined together on carrying frame.

Is it worth to have one like a hmm backup radio? There is few of them on auction pages, but without crank generator...

"green radios" are always best to have in case of emergency, someday I will make video about it - but in general they are very easy to use by not skilled person. In case of emergency You can preset them and give to someone who have no radio experience and they can't mishandle them, they won't be affected by flood or other harsh conditions that might evolve in distress scenario. On amature radio, one wrong click and someone can change settings and won't be able to communicate. In my opinion for that good option is PRC-350 (very easy - even changing volume prevent muting it) or PRC-77 (with adapter allow using alkaline batteries) - once Year just check radio for TX/RX and You can be sure it will work if You even need deploy it, on PRC-350 You have rechargeable battery and they require attention. You have to way what is the best for Your application. Crank generator - if You live in city I won't care about it there are better way of powering devices including single use army batteries, if You want for fare away location for example into jeep as backup radio - 100% sure go for it in other case i would give pass.

@@ElectronicNoobBlog Hah... Decision just need to grow up in my head. I'm ham radio operator, so every TRX is simply for me. But you have right. If I want to put this in to some kind of terrain vehicle, it should be undestrucktable and as simplest as it can be. Probably I will change way to power it anyway, make it simpler and more unisersal to use in field. Thx for answer

Why is there a radiation symbol ??

That forward power meter (under flap) use radioluminescence paint so could be visible at night emitting green light markings at scale and needle. (right now i can't see any visible light at night).
