Myself and my brother were unfortunate to lose my Dad when I was only 13 years old but his lasting legacy for myself and my brother is a love and appreciation of Phil Collins and Genesis. All of our childhood we were raised listening to Phil Collins work - our dad was such a massive fan and could connect with each and every song on a personal level. No matter how many times I have listened to this song it still bring a tear to my eyes every time I hear it. RIP dad, we love you.
How lucky I feel to have been brought up during the 80,s and 90,s when this was always playing on the radio. Today music is meaningless! Talent has died
No doubt, it's one of the most beautiful romantic songs from the album *"Invisible Touch"* by Genesis, one of the greatest progressive rock bands ever. *"In Too Deep"* is really amazing!...

Do you like Phil Collins? I've been a big Genesis fan ever since the release of their 1980 album, Duke. Before that, I really didn't understand any of their work. Too artsy, too intellectual. It was on Duke where Phil Collins' presence became more apparent. I think Invisible Touch was the group's undisputed masterpiece. It's an epic meditation on intangibility. At the same time, it deepens and enriches the meaning of the preceding three albums. Christy, take off your robe. Listen to the brilliant ensemble playing of Banks, Collins and Rutherford. You can practically hear every nuance of every instrument. Sabrina, remove your dress. In terms of lyrical craftsmanship, the sheer songwriting, this album hits a new peak of professionalism. Sabrina, why don't you, uh, dance a little. Take the lyrics to Land of Confusion. In this song, Phil Collins addresses the problems of abusive political authority. In Too Deep is the most moving pop song of the 1980s, about monogamy and commitment. The song is extremely uplifting. Their lyrics are as positive and affirmative as anything I've heard in rock. Christy, get down on your knees so Sabrina can see your asshole. Phil Collins' solo career seems to be more commercial and therefore more satisfying, in a narrower way. Especially songs like In the Air Tonight and Against All Odds. Sabrina, don't just stare at it, eat it. But I also think Phil Collins works best within the confines of the group, than as a solo artist, and I stress the word artist. This is Sussudio, a great, great song, a personal favorite.
BV1992PAO, I know what you mean about In Too Deep. It is a great song from a great band, Genesis. Let me tell you about another great band. Do you like Huey Lewis and The News? Their early work was a little too new wave for my tastes, but when Sports came out in '83, I think they really came into their own, commercially and artistically. The whole album has a clear, crisp sound, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the songs a big boost. He's been compared to Elvis Costello, but I think Huey has a far more bitter, cynical sense of humor. I think their undisputed masterpiece is "Hip to be Square", a song so catchy, most people probably don't listen to the lyrics. But they should, because it's not just about the pleasures of conformity, and the importance of trends, it's also a personal statement about the band itself.

Ooh I know you're going, but I can't believe It's the way that you're leaving, It's like we never knew each other at all, it may be my fault, I gave you too many reasons, being alone, when I didn't want to I thought you'd always be there, I almost believed you, All this time, I still remember everything you said, oh There's so much you promised, how could I ever forget. In too Deep is the perfect example of good songs are timeless. A true contemporary classic.I wonder if in 30 years anyone is going to remember Kathy Perry or Miley Cyrus; but hell they will remember Michael Jackson, Madonna,REM,U2,Genesis, Pink Floyd and the list can go on.
In 30 years, people will remember the Black Keys and Green Day and Red Hot Chili Peppers and Gotye and Paolo Nutini and Kings of Leon and countless other excellent current musicians.
The lyric "there's so much you promised/how could I ever forget?" Must resonate with a million hearts that have been broken, put back together but never forgot the first one. Great song- real emotion.

The song is extremely uplifting. Their lyrics are as positive and affirmative as anything I've heard in rock
Grande Phil....
Absolutely awesome I’m old school I’m on it
Who wouldn’t his songs make you think thank you Phil Collins 😊
"In Too Deep"
All that time I was searching, nowhere to run to, it started me thinking,
Wondering what I could make of my life, and who'd be waiting,
Asking all kinds of questions, to myself, but never finding the answers,
Crying at the top of my voice, and no one listening,
All this time, I still remember everything you said
There's so much you promised, how could I ever forget.
Listen, you know I love you, but I just can't take this,
You know I love you, but I'm playing for keeps,
Although I need you, I'm not gonna make this,
You know I want to, but I'm in too deep.
So listen, listen to me,
Ooh you must believe me,
I can feel your eyes go thru me,
But I don't know why.
Ooh I know you're going, but I can't believe
It's the way that you're leaving,
It's like we never knew each other at all, it may be my fault,
I gave you too many reasons, being alone, when I didn't want to
I thought you'd always be there, I almost believed you,
All this time, I still remember everything you said, oh
There's so much you promised, how could I ever forget.
Listen, you know I love you, but I just can't take this,
You know I love you, but I'm playing for keeps,
Although I need you, I'm not gonna make this,
You know I want to, but I'm in too deep.
So listen, listen to me,
I can feel your eyes go thru me
It seems I've spent too long
Only thinking about myself - oh
Now I want to spend my life
Just caring bout somebody else.
Listen, you know I love you, but I just can't take this,
You know I love you, but I'm playing for keeps,
Although I need you, I'm not gonna make this,
You know I want to, but I'm in too deep.
You know I love you, but I just can't take this,
You know I love you, but I'm playing for keeps,
Although I need you, I'm not gonna make this,
You know I want to, but I'm in too deep...
Juan Sales Durá Thank you !!!!
Thanks
Thank you!
Beautiful lyrics
The song is extremely uplifting.
I've been a big Genesis fan ever since the release of their 1980 album, Duke. Before that, I really didn't understand any of their work. Too artsy, too intellectual. It was on Duke where, uh, Phil Collins' presence became more apparent. In terms of lyrical craftsmanship, the sheer songwriting, this album hits a new peak of professionalism. Take the lyrics to Land of Confusion. In this song, Phil Collins addresses the problems of abusive political authority. In Too Deep is the most moving pop song of the 1980s, about monogamy and commitment. The song is extremely uplifting. Their lyrics are as positive and affirmative as, uh, anything I've heard in rock. Phil Collins' solo career seems to be more commercial and therefore more satisfying, in a narrower way. Especially songs like In the Air Tonight and, uh, Against All Odds. But I also think Phil Collins works best within the confines of the group, than as a solo artist, and I stress the word artist. This is Sussudio, a great, great song, a personal favorite.
and I stress the word artist☝
If you're still bumping this to this day, we gotta be friends bro
Tune!
probablemente una de las canciones mas bellas de la historia . Tengo 43 y la escucho hace 30 años como si fuera la primera vez ... que belleza y cuanta perfeccion en esta obra de arte
Verdade. Canção simplesmente linda🥰
Absolutamente, totalmente de acuerdo
Canción maravillosa 👍
In too Deep is the perfect example of good songs are timeless. A true contemporary classic.I wonder if in 30 years anyone is going to remember Kathy Perry or Miley Cyrus; but hell they will remember Michael Jackson, Madonna,REM,U2,Genesis, Pink Floyd and the list can go on.
In 30 years, people will remember the Black Keys and Green Day and Red Hot Chili Peppers and Gotye and Paolo Nutini and Kings of Leon and countless other excellent current musicians.
I don't even remember half of them artists now but I'll always remember the 80's artists
Dont just look at it! Eat it!!!
Classics never die!
The lyric "there's so much you promised/how could I ever forget?" Must resonate with a million hearts that have been broken, put back together but never forgot the first one. Great song- real emotion.
Met Bono in Beaumont hospital in in my hometown in Dublin when I was young about 15 or 16 years old. Me and my pals were visiting our friend and he came over and sat down with us for a chat so down to earth, none of us asked for an autograph 😂😂😂😂
Still listening in 2021, absolute legend, he made the 80s & 90s for me with those rolled up sleeves, just your working class singer 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

I always adored Phil Collins. He was my first ever crush, i was 7 and i knew from that moment on, that i will always adore him. Today it was a really bad day, realized some painful things, and felt the need to cry. Was searching for the perfect song that could open my heart, and i found it. Finally i can cry my eyes out, freeing my soul. And all over an loser.
