    Your vids are so clear and concise it's actually insane I went out from Expert 3 to Master (again) without a single 4th place ! And now I feel confident going only higher ! Thank you so much Mahjong Samourai 🥰

    This was so helpful! I've just started and many times in the middle of games I have lots of tile sequences and I have a hard time knowing if the tile I just drew improved my hand or not. Having these rules to follow will definitely help!

    Best riichi guides! Love your videos :) keep up the good work! In the comments of your previous video someone suggested you to change the music to more peaceful one and you did. I think this more calm music works better for these kind of videos. Good change.

      Personally, I liked the energetic background music more. This one is a bit too calm for me.

    Nice video! I think I was doing that by instinct, but sometimes it was difficult to decide what to do without knowing the rules.

    I never played Mahjong my whole life, downloaded Mahjong Soul cause I saw an Ad.
    Starts playing, understand basic rule and easily got out of novice with 40+% win rate.
    Got into adept 1 and started losing points even though my win rate is in the 30+%, I don't understand.
    Ask youtube-kun about riichi Mahjong tutorial. Found out about folding lmao.
    Your channel is basically my only source of riichi mahjong theory. Now at adept 3 using all the tips you provided, win rate dropped into the 29% but I don't really care about that and instead more focused on decreasing my deal-in rate! (It's at 15% still but that's what happened when you don't know about folding the first 50 games. . . .)

      Thank you so much for the comment! I really appreciate you watching my video.
      The deal-in rate will continue to decrease, and I believe you will become an expert in no time! Let's enjoy Mahjong World!

    How does this come into play in regards to the 5 block theory video you posted?
    Since if we go by those rules, in the first example at 1:48, that would be a 4 block hand, (4567m, 4567p, 223s, 678s) -> we should discard something from one of the 4-tile complex shape, not the 3s, if I understand corectly.

    • @MahjongSamurai
      @MahjongSamurai  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you for asking a great question again!
      This hand is Sticky Shape (explained in my 4-shapes in 1-away video), and we can see the 3s is an isolated tile because we should see 2s as a pair in Sticky shape. Therefore, comparing isolated tile(3s) and 4 tiles shape(4567m, 4567p), we can discard 3s.
      P.S.
      In this case, we can also see the hand as 5 blocks (ex. 45m, 67m, 456p, 223s, 678s). In cases like the present example, where there are multiple ways to count the number of blocks, such as 4 or 5 blocks (or 5 or 6 blocks), it is optimal to proceed with the calculation considering it as 5 blocks.
