Jay Breeze During a battle of the bands, drum majors and dancers are nothing more than what is known as "eye candy". When the smoke clears and the dust settles, the only thing that the crowd remembers is which band performed and sounded the best. Pebblebrook was outmatched, outclassed, and clearly out of their league. Pebblebrook could also stand to have a better book for battling. Their selections were weak/watered down.
Best high school bands I herd on you tube make feel good teachers are teaching this kids how to play and write music the right way checking in from D.C. Keep up the excellent work both programs.

When I stayed in Birmingham, I let my son go to Parker. I didn't know Minor High school band had it going on like that. I thoroughly enjoyed this.. Kudos to both bands; they did their thing .

The articulation was good as well, but just because they were playing louder, doesn't mean they had a better overall sound... But us Pebblebrook band members are back and better than ever. The "They sound like SU" thing is really played out, ok. Every band does not marvel after or strives to have the "SU" sound. The band director of Minor's band is a well respected AAMU alumnus--far from anything "SU". So, please, let's kill the "They sound like SU" thing when referring to this superior high school band. Go back and join all of those who are on Talladega College videos comment section hollarin' that same thing. And to answer your question, No the arrangements don't sound like SU. It sounds like a Dr. Crumb arrangement to me--and probably to everyone else in Birmingham.
Yas', no offense taken. Corrections duly noted. But, it is looked down upon to "carbon copy" any chant or song from another college or high school. Bands are criticized and taunted often for taking or copying from another band. Talladega is being scrutinized for taking a similar sound to SU. But, all of this you will see and learn at the next level. And the near mentioning or addressing Mr. Crumb as "Dr. Crumb", I knew way back when before choosing Minor, he was still in pursuit of a higher learning in Music other than the receipt of his BS degree. I only that he'd achieved that degree by now. 'Only giving him respect. But, anyway, thanks for all the info. Next time I will do my homework before commenting. And Yas' you all keep bringing that quality sound! The "Mighty" Marching Purple Tigers have got a fan with me!
