Any body know how they get their instruments to sound like that,they sound like southern and grambling. But where i live our band are twice the size of these bands but we sound more like a famu or bethune-cookman. Do they tune their instruments a certain way to sound like that?
It's just a matter of tone quality in the individual and getting that sound to the whole individual section and each individual section making the entire bands tone quality sound like that

First off I wanna say that both bands did really good. I go to JD and I think HL did an outstanding job. Our intent was never to out blow them. We learned that mistake from Selma. We came to out preform them. And I think we did a good job doing that. We represented the Gump well and we played to the best of our ability against a brass section the same size as our entire band. I'm satisfied with my last performance with my marching band.
+Big Nick ok we sounded pretty clean and we had a show to give. All y'all do is just stand at attention and blow. If you were actually there and not just being a keyboard warrior you would realize that the criteria for the battle was entrance, directors choice, flag song, dance song, and dance routine. But I'm done. I don't argue with peasants on the Internet
coming from a Jd alumna hunters lane was the best sounding high school band there ....... there mellos were fooling ..... i still love my vols though they did great
Yall on here saying j.d. Put on a good show and had energy. That's cool and all but to me it's what comes out the other end of the horn that counts. You can Dance all you want but that doesn't make music. HE won this battle by a landslide! I was there.
