    With Google's (very recent) news about incorporating advertising into AIO results, we need to ask if the purpose of the AI answers is really about optimising for a better user experience, or instead is it about opening up new opportunities for advertisers?

      Undoubtedly the purpose of search (for Google) is ad revenue, but step 1 to ad revenue is maintaining market share (by not losing it to other AI searches). Therefore I do think it's actually both. Plus showing the market that Google isn't sleeping on the threat, and maintaining share price - Tim
