    Aloy used Sylens' spear to purge Hades. For all we know, he modified the spear to make a copy of Hades as soon as it was connected. By the time Hades was purged it was all ready downloaded and waiting for an open port. Sylens built a computer core to contain Hades. Once one the AI was either forced or given the chance to transfer to this new core.

    HADES is fully contained in the Faraday cage Sylens built for him. Whatever his plans are, now that he knows exactly what HADES wants, he will never allow him to complete his purpose, as that would mean his own death as well. Sylens is by no means a good guy, but he knows he would gain nothing and lose everything if he lets HADES do what he wants.

      While you're right, the biggest obstacle Sobeck had with building Gaia was that not only did it have to be capable of all it had to do, but she had to care about people. Sylens only cares about himself and his own aims. Sylens would only share his knowledge with others if it benefitted him.

    What interests me is, Hades is merely the AI doing what it was meant to do, but of course in a limited view of the whole situation since it was awakened. Sylens seems to be, unfortunately, the represented part of humanity that views knowledge as power and sees that power as a way of control. Whatever his personal goals are he is no better than Ted Faro. My intrigue is in who or what sent the signal that awoke Hades. Sylens refers to them as it's masters. This means there is yet an unrevealed larger threat with even more knowledge that Sylens would love to know. Aliens? Those from the Odyessy mission ( love your video on that and find it the most likely), or even a clone of Ted Faro ( love that vid also). Whatever the case Aloy, Sylens, and Hades will play I would imagine a even larger role in the next installment of the game.
    Keep up the great work.

      Sylens doesn't seem to want power. He is a seeker of knowledge, of which he obtains at any cost. This causes him to do some bad things, but he is not evil. As for HADES, I do think that all of it was trapped after GAIA blew up prime, but HEPHAESTUS is the one running amuk. CYAN said that it would make stronger machines, but its goal was not extinction of mankind like HADES. The stronger machines were in response to man hunting its creations, nothing more. The real enemy is the "signal". Was it simply a surviving AI that wasn't shutdown, or was it something more working in the background that created the virus that started all of this? Questions for the sequel.

    I have a strange theory about Sylens. I believe that Sylens, is actually Apollo. Here me out okay. Here’s why I think he is.
    1) Apollo became an AI of its own, just like Hades and Hephaestus did. Each AI, from the moment they became independent entities, continued with what they were programmed to do, such as Haphaestus ,who constructed new machines to defend GAIA’s creations from humans so they could continue doing their role in the terraforming system, and Hades, who wished to follow his programming and annihilate life on earth. Apollo, however, wouldn’t be able to accomplish its goal of passing on its knowledge to mankind, as Ted had erased all of its knowledge. But I believe, that when he became an AI, he would’ve wanted to have searched for this missing knowledge, by exploring the world around him, in order to help fulfil his purpose. But that raises the question, how, would he do that?
    2) To do this though, he’d have to find a imaginative solution to accomplish this goal, just like how Hades for example decided to utilise the Faro Robots to accomplish his directive, as he no longer had access to Zero Dawns terraforming system. Another example is Haphaestus taking advantage of CYAN to take control of Firebreak to construct Cauldron Epsilon. Point being, both of them were able to find alternative means of accomplishing their mission. Apollo being a advanced AI would’ve known that it would be impossible for him to traverse the old ones ruins as an ai on his own. So I reckon he would’ve utilised something left in the ruins of the old ones, the deactivated Servito bots. They are the only bots we’ve seen who look remotely humanoid. I reckon Apollo would’ve took control of the least rundown servitude he can find in Eleuthia’s ruins, and modify them to make them look human, so that way he wouldn’t stand out.
    3) And yes, I know he doesn’t look like a robot, but if my theory is correct, that would be the point. Plus, we already have human like machines today. It would only make sense that by the 2060’s, they would’ve made great advancements in the creation of human like robots. Plus, if he were a robot, it would make sense why he’s so calculating most of the time.
    4) But of course we’ve seen that Sylens show emotions, something you wouldn’t expect from a robot. But CYAN and GAIA were advanced enough to be able to not only feel these emotions, but to understand them. Plus, he always makes logical choices to accomplishing his goals, even though they might be morally questionable at times, such as creating the eclipse, or capturing Hades. This is might be because, as he is a machine, he’d make the logical choice.
    5) He only comes into direct contact with Alloy if it’s necessary. I reckon that’s because he doesn’t want her to notice that he’s not doing simple things a human would normally do, such as eat or sleep, cuz as he is a machine, he wouldn’t do any of this.
    6) Sylens has never told Alloy where’s he from. Ourea believed that he wasn’t Banuk, due to the horrific things he did to them. I reckon that his Banuk look is just a illusion, so no one would see him as a machine. Heck, even the wiring could actually be apart of his mechanical body.
    7) Your probably thinking, “oh, but if he’s an ai, then how come he didn’t know about Zero Dawn or GAIA”. This might be because he’d have lost the info about Gaia or zero Dawn.
    8) Everything that Sylens has done, has been for the ultimate goal of pursuing knowledge. If he really is Apollo, then I reckon that this desire, is really his programming.
    Of course, I’m not 100% sure this could be true however, as all of this is still a theory, as it has many holes in it of course, but it sounds like a interesting theory nonetheless. I could be wrong, but wouldn’t it be a cool twist? Plus to me, this seems the closest to something I think Apollo would do now that’s he’s free.
    What do you think?

    • @whitegold2960
      @whitegold2960 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I don’t know
      Good theory in theory
      But it destroys the point of sylens in a way for me.
      Sylens is a character that values Knowledge over everything else but somewhere along the way he lost his morals and became pure selfish that’s the tragedy of sylens so when you make him an advanced au the most human thing in sylens become not really relevant anymore.
      Maybe it’s because I see myself sometimes in sylens as a warning that pursuit of knowledge isn’t everything in life but fun theory

      Sylens as an individual existed prior to the Unknown Signal and the destruction of Gaia Prime. He was the first to explore the smoking crater left after Gaia nuked herself. That means he cannot be a clone of Apollo's alpha or Apollo in a Servitor. He is simply a highly educated and inquisitive individual who will do questionable things to gain knowledge (explore a massive explosion's remnants, form the Eclipse, and even trap Hades.)

    With all due respect, I think it's clear that was all of Hades was in that Horus computer core.When he said "Titain frame merly houses intelect" he was explaining he was not a war machine he was simply using it as a shell.
    As to why the master override failed to desroy him, I have an idea.
    It was created to purge either Gaia or her subfuctions which is why she asked Aloy to use it on Hades. But at the time she used it, Hades was no longer just a subfunction. He had been made self-aware, if chaotic and illogical. So it stands to reason the master overide wouldn't entirely work on him becuase it wasn't desinged for sutch an enity. Although, it was primaraly desinged to use on Gaia and she was at least, if not more, advanced as Hades.

    • @LordTelperion
      @LordTelperion 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I also think Sylens gave Aloy his staff duplicitously, expecting/hoping Aloy would need to use it to hack Hades. It was programed so Aloy's purge wouldn't kill Hades, but to transmit/trap him in Sylens' handheld cage.

    • @mattstorm360
      @mattstorm360 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@LordTelperion It's quite the ploy. What I think he did was build a backup drive into his staff. Once connected to Hades, it creates a back up storing a copy while the hardware override destoryed the original. Then once he was where he needed to be, he opened the back door to the staff giving the copy of Hades only one way out. Him. He dose tell you the would do it all over again. With a few more safe guards, of course.

    I’m pretty sure Sylens was a Nora outcast. Orea mentioned they questioned if he was ever banuk to begin with. That piece of information is only interesting if he is a Nora. Like Who cares if he is carja or oseram. I think he might even be the boy Teersa mentioned. The Nora boy who was outcast for killing his own mother at age 13. Why Sylens would kill his mother idk. But they gave us that bit of information for a reason. But if you compare his outfit to other tribes it looks mostly Nora. He carries his stuff from the back of his belt like a Nora too. He calls himself a lone wanderer who left his tribe behind a long time ago, a searcher of the forbidden places, Only nora call the ruins forbidden. It would mean he has that in common with Aloy both shunned from the tribe as children. Maybe he grew up in mothers watch and got a peek inside the mountain. Growing up as a Nora with intelligence might have spurred his interest in the old ones. Surviving in the wilds since age 13 would make him tough too. Also it only hints at his intelligence. Outside Gaia prime he created that contraption to try and get the door open. And the device that holds hades at the end. Also we know Sylens is a user person. He might have had something to do with Rosts outcast story. We still don’t know why the outlanders came. Teersa’s story about Rost and the 13 yr old Nora boy who was outcast rly interests me. In a video game they give you info like that for a reason. So I’ve been looking for how those story’s tie in. And yeah I’m convinced Sylens is that Nora boy grown up. Orea said he came from the distant north but a Nora interested in the old ones I would assume would definitely make there way to Ban ur. Even when you go back to all mother they way Sylens talks about the Nora is as if he has had personal dealings with there ignorant ways. Most of the tribes know little of the Nora they don’t have much dealings with them. But Sylens talks about them with obvious disdain. Idk just one of my many theory’s. I also have tons of theory’s on the banuk too. There paintings are very revealing and everything Orea says too. I’m pretty sure I got them almost figured out. One of the triangles they paint everywhere is the same shape on Cyan and Gaia’s tech. Orea is not the first banuk to have contact with an AI. It says as much in Banukis story. I think the blue light is where AIs who are missing there tech live. It talked about Vast Silver escaping into the holoscape. Maybe the blue light is the last place on earth that is “online”. Maybe Elisium? We know it wasn’t far from Gaiaprime it had to be in the claim or Banur. Idk obviously I’m seriously obsessed with this game lol

    I watched Fringe and John Wick. He is so perfect for this role. When he showed up i was like "No Way". I just could not picture the man with the so familliar voice for a while. As about where Sylens comes from. My suspicions are either from Ban-Ur or......The forbidden west. In the DLC The Frozen Wilds the female Shaman tells you they were not even sure if he was Banuk at all. He looks the part for sure and had history with the Banuk. He might not even be from the American continent at all for as far we know now. I doubt his name is even Sylens at all. It of course nudges to the word Silence as in secretive. Like Aloy nudges to the word Alloy. A material created out of several ones. Hinting to her being a clone of Elizabeth Sobeck. Even the AI's hint to their Greek god counterparts. Anyway proven is that he has formidable knowledge about Machines at least. The rest he does not share easily. Only that he had dealings with the Banuk and that he was the founder of Eclipse. He is also reasonably advanced in Age. The Banuk Shaman wiring he has over his body suggests he is a Banuk Shaman. Or it just lets him fit in more easily everywhere over the Carja and Bunuk Areas. I suspect we learn alot more about him in the Sequel now the basic story and Aloys history is revealed. But i still am not convinced he is evil as a whole. He craves knowledge most of all things. And knowledge is ultimatly power. But unlike Aloy he did not truly earn it. He just tags along and tries to win in in the most easy and comfortable way. But just because he does not fight alot or avoids it does not mean he is not able to. I picture the scenario where Sylens is going to do something very foolish when all that knowledge and power finally rises to his head. Or when he is forced to play his hand. He is also very much a Loner. Avoiding personal attachments of any kind. This will also play a factor in the Sequel. Because to some degree he does seem to care for Aloy. It is what they call the Redeeming quality. But it is for sure that Knowledge is what he is after. And unlike Aloy he is absolutely ruthless when it comes to aquiring it. At any cost. Even so much he throws Aloy in dangerous situations to get it. While Aloy enjoys the Journey and thrill of finding new things. He on the other hand is always right down to the goal. And from the History with the Banuk he has done it before..perhaps multiple times. Yeah that is bad Karma dude. And it always comes around.....Always. But over the course of the game he does change somewhat,or rather becomes a little nicer. I sure hope that will work out for him in the end. For now he did nothing unredeemable yet to Aloy. Even saved her. I hope that gets better...if not. Well it was nice knowing him...or not knowing him. Well time will tell. Or the Sequel..

    I know I’m rly late but I think Sylens was originally Nora. Maybe the other Nora child who was outcast. There wasn’t much reason for them to add that story detail otherwise. Same with Rosts story it will come back up later, theres more to it. Sylens clothings looks Nora ish with banuk elements. The banuk are the closest to the Nora I think and seeking knowledge it’s likely he would have sought them out as a Nora outcast. Just speculation but he seems to know a bit about the Nora too. He doesn’t seem to respect them much the way he speaks about them and aloy. Maybe the reason he was so hungry for knowledge is bcuz he was denied it as a Nora. The Nora boy who was outcast was said to have killed his parents idk why Sylens would do that but he does seem pretty cold and unfeeling. This is just speculation but It’s been on my mind for quite awhile. Idk why they would add that bit of info about another Nora child outcast if it didn’t tie in somehow ya know. Just like Rosts story will tie I. Somehow eventually.

    So Sylens was a former Banuk with an unspeakable, beyond graph and scale pursuit of knowledge. Only to repair a focus which led him to the A.I Hades. Throughout the good long while they shared each other's knowledge. Among them, was The Spire Of Holy Meridian when really it was a transmission array of Minerva, a thing of which was meant to activate certain codes from centuries ago.
    Sylens needed an army to help fulfill Hades's purpose. luckily, amongst the desert, they found the perfect one. those disloyal to King Avad, and loyal to the Mad Tyrannic Sun King Geron,The SHADOW Carja. Sylens set the leaders of the Shadow Carja up, let them to believe that Hades was an evil devil shadow in specific prophecies. Thus brought forth the creation of a Cult called The Eclipse, a little later and now equipped with focuses as communications. Unfortunately Sylens outgrew his usefulness to the point of forfeit. Sylens escaped and vanished. For a good long while, he watched from the shadows,
    And also through Aloy, Sylens learned of The Apocalyptic cost as a result of one of the old ones Ted Faro's mistakes and crimes.

    I can’t understand how a Gaia’s subsystem found by Sylens in a titan. I falsely thought that Sylens moved Hades in the titan. How HADES found home on a titan in the first place??? How he escaped from his original facility? It makes no sense

    • @alyseleem2692

      Simple:when the subordinate functions of GAIA were released by HADES, they all essentially became various forms of malware. In my opinion, this allowed all of them to escape to other devices ,including the HORUS Titans. HADES simply took the closest one he could find in his range. The real question is :where did the rest of them go? And what are they up to?

For instance, if I delete all of my files off of my computer no one other than someone who knows how to retrieve that hidden/deleted information will be able to get my files back. Law enforcement, the FBI and CIA can retrieve any deleted information off of any computer (Computer Forensics). Apollo’s information might have been deleted but Appolo itself wasn’t destroyed. An AI is, by definition, an intelligence. And Hades had nothing to do for the entirety of it's existence except monitor GAIA's progress and calculate whether he needed to step in.
      Much as CYAN read poetry and enjoyed the music of Concrete Beach Party, HADES likely studied APOLLO's information data banks to pass the time.
      It's difficult to comprehend how intelligent these AI's are. GAIA noticed she had received a coded transmission that unshackled HADES, realised what it meant, directed the ELEUTHIA-9 cradle to clone Elisabet Sobeck, and started a self-destruct program in a few microseconds.
      HADES had hundreds of years with nothing to do. It probably knows everything APOLLO did. As would all the other AI's, as their primary functions would take up only a small part of their processing power.

    • @Slowpoke3x
      @Slowpoke3x 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It still has to know things to do it job. Hades only has enough to do its job and has the capacity to think beyond that but it does not contain the entirety of human knowledge. Probably doesn even know what art is.

    • @alyseleem2692
      @alyseleem2692 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think every AI -sub function or not-has a basic understanding of mathematics, geometry,physics and some forms of programming, all of which are at least partially necessary for their functions. Also,as AIs,they're designed to evolve by learning and calculating at varying degrees of complexity. Learning such subjects might have been par of the course for any one of them to truly become as advanced as they are now,possibly through their first simulations. Now that's something I'd like to watch.

    It seams that gia is a self aware AI, her subordinate functions are AIs but not self aware. Since the sub functions are not self aware, they would need to be supervised. It is also possible that the subfunctions are amounts of nano scale machines. When gia said "they're escaping", she may have been referring to the nano machines that are the subfunctions. This would explain what Sylens captured at the end. It could also be the blue light of the machines.

    • @mattl6300
      @mattl6300 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Robert Phillips hades is an AI, a learning machine. I don't think it's self aware, it has no personality. The signal most likely activated the hades subfunction, when gaia self destructed, hades had no way to control the terraforming machines. So it found another way to preform it's task. Intelligence does not equal sentience.
