I loved her so much ! I went to her concert in Vegas in 2008. She was fantastic! Just After she died I went to see Elton John and he dedicated a song to her and shared a story about how kind and generous she was. He said she donated a lot of money to Elton’s charities and said she’d only do so if he promised never to tell how much money she gave and that she remained anonymous. He said she was a lovely giving lady. I loved her even more hearing that ! She left us too soon. 😢
AND THEY WERE IGNORANT…!!! I ONLY GOT THROUGH A FEW MINUTES AND IT SEEMED THAT THE QUESTIONS WERE ALL ABOUT THE SAME… I AM AN AGE WHERE I REMEMBER THIS INTERVIEWER AND I WAS NEVER A FAN SO MY BAD TO EVEN BEGIN TO LISTEN I LITERALLY COULD NOT CONTINUE LISTENING TO THIS..!!
It's interesting to hear Donna talk about the depression she'd experienced ever since a kid. Depression would be something that came back to her life many times. She'd also talked at other times about how she was hospitalised with exhaustion from over working. It did make me wonder whether Donna may have had some form of bi polar, as so many performers do.
I hope Diana Ross and the remaining Supremes that are still with us, are watching this wonderful interview with the music voice, disco dance, you name it she did it, Donna Summer interview! With the one and only extremely just as famous Rona Barrett as the journalist doing the interview! And also the people of Germany and Europe, as well as the music industry, please watch this very candid vintage interview that Donna Summer does , and DonnaSummer seems to be very forthright and honest in her conversation and answers to Rona Barrett’s questions.
Ah , the 1970s and Donna Summer and Ron Barrett, who could ask for more?! and also very very candid questions and answers from both Rona Barrett as well as Donna Summer! Very interesting and candid interview from 1978! Vintage and very classic! Two legends in the world of entertainment and music, as well as news and journalism!
It was so eye opening to realize that the Queen of Disco was sitting on the throne watching her reign along with the rest of us as if it were someone else’s life. She literally played a character and never felt fully seen by us.
near 0:17 irony, #Libra rules journalism, interviewing... #7thHouse ♎ near 1:33 ♑ What she says about Politics! So profound to hear in *October 2024!* Luv you, Ms. Summer r.i.p. 🕊
I remember this interview with Rona Barrett (she was the first b4 Barbara Walters to interview live TV celebrities). Interesting: "to have achieved this stardom as u have had", in those days seeing a personality we had followed in the music or films, spokesperson they were not, and it was rare then to hear it said, what they achieved how much they got paid, etc.". ❤ Donna Summer. She was huge in the business, three back to back Platinum albums within a year 1/2, 78-79. Was big, then.
A great insight into Donna’s thinking with his interview. It seems to me Rona kept trying to push her towards politics. The fact that you are famous or getting famous and somewhat rich doesn’t mean you should go into politics. I did notice that in this interview. Rest in peace Donna, I hope you accomplished everything, or a lot of, what you wanted to in your life. I know I enjoyed your voice, and you were surely a beautiful woman with a good soul.
Thank you for sharing this interview. What an eye opening about Donna. I love her since I first heard her in 1975. I wasn't aware how difficult fame was for her. I miss her presence on earth
I did not like how Ronna press on that racism question. Donna answered well but Ronna came back around with the same topic. Glad Donna answered politely. I think she is class act. Thanks Donna for everything. ❤
I love how her belief in an astrologist’s predictions about 1979 came true. It was her biggest year on the charts & I’m sure made her far richer than she already was. Of course, it would have happened anyway. Bad Girls is an excellent album.
Donna summers was one of the most beautiful and sexy woman in the world. And then only that she was actually a good person.. she had a strong believe in God, and he could tell by the way she carried her self around other people, even though she had major issues she had to deal with on a daily basis. When we lost Donna, we lost a gem….!
...this is a HIGHLY intelligent Interview; Rona was thought of to be a 'low-brow' Gossip protagonist, but clearly she respects Donna, and goes for the REAL Hard-hitting questions (racism, dating White Men, Divorce, politics, etc.) ...BETTER than Barbara Walters! ...BUT, that last 3 minutes show why this interview was never aired.....eeek.....
This interview not only aired (perhaps not in this full 37 minute incarnation), a portion was also officially released on a Rona Barrett DVD interview collection many years ago. I found nothing offensive about the last few minutes of the interview.
This interview is a lesson for the women of the WNBA. You can bring bad vibes to yourself because of your perspective of the common disdain. It is not always about race. It's mostly about attitude.
Astounding revelatory and honest interview to start. But then Barrett has to try and dredge up the race issue. This obsession of framing America as racist has to stop.
Don’t look at it from 2024 perspective look at it within context. Donna Summers is FAB u lous What matters is the entirety and the outcome of the interview so listening to what Donna has to say is enlightening and wonderful and highlights her flexibility and strength of character
i think barrett is trying to prove donna could not handle being in the usa and that she lived in a protective bubble something people like barrett lived in.
I did not like how Ronna press on that racism question. Donna answered well but Ronna came back around with the same topic. Glad Donna answered politely. I think she is class act. Thanks Donna for everything. ❤
Donna was amazing in so many, many ways. Her personality, honesty and intelligence really shine in this interview. She was a REAL person!!!!
Yes, she was an amazing person 🎉🎉

Donna was woman ahead of her time, and she was able to lead the world to a new place through her amazing one-of-a-kind talent.
My goodness. Donna is so, so very thoughtful and extremely intelligent. I’m so glad, no, honoured to have watched this .
What a sweet lady Donna was. She had to tough out these intrusive, ignorant questions. She was wonderful about it.
Donna Summer gives very open answers to some rather strange and arguably intrusive questions, she comes across confident and secure in herself.
I don't think any of those questions. The two ladies seem to get along very well and I think her questions give Donna a real chance to open up.
Wow what an interview. Donna Summer was one of the best! Her answer on politics is so right on.
Love Donna's security and sincerity.
I have never loved a singer more than Donna Summer! It's cute to hear her Boston accent! It's good to hear her inner most thoughts!
I was looking for this interview a of couple weeks ago but couldn't find it. Thanks for posting!
What an absolutely beautiful Lady. Inside and out. Thank you for your amazing voice Donna. Rest in peace. I really liked you a lot.👍❤️🇺🇸🙏
Donna ALWAYS struck me as an approachable, friendly person, she was the real deal ❤
Donna, forever classy!!!
❤❤❤
Maybe I am wrong but today, many celebrities of today do not or cannot hold a thoughtful intelligent conversation like this.
I think many many could but we do not have formats that enable that. Short form content does nothing for depth in my opinion.

A singer who has gone to artist's paradise.
LOST HER IN THE RAIN REMASTERED (C)2006 ❤😢 🌧

Do we ever see this kind of honesty these days.
It's character

The sun doesn't shine as brightly since she left us!
Absolutely lovely interview
I wonder why they don't make a movie of her life 😔 I love you, Donna forever My best artist ever
It wouldn't surprise me if they made the musical into a movie.
Her daughter Brooklyn did.
beyond ❤ the music at it's very best
Rona did some good interviews

i am wondering if bogart was telling her they were going to market her so hard she would be # 1.

There was nothing wrong with her opinion of politics. I agree with her. How do you know this never aired?

I want to see the Mary Tyler Moore interviewed that never aired.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
6:45 she ate that
This interview is a lesson for the women of the WNBA. You can bring bad vibes to yourself because of your perspective of the common disdain. It is not always about race. It's mostly about attitude.
Interesting that in the 70s most people asked about a persons zodiac sign 😅
Time when Women are Women, Men are Men it was beautiful
zero respect for those who watermark secondhand content
What's up with the stupid questions ⁉️ 😡
Serious Capricorn vibes ❤❤❤❤ I see a similar demeanor with Donna and Aaliyah and Vanity (Denise Matthews) all Capis ❤
Astounding revelatory and honest interview to start. But then Barrett has to try and dredge up the race issue. This obsession of framing America as racist has to stop.
Very out of touch you are 😂
She was.she is and she forever will be my love to love you baby
24:35 she loved asking this question.
💯
barrett is not asking questions she is making assumptions and trying to get them validated by the guest's response.
