    Does the video suggest that striving for big goals is pointless?

    I tend to disagree on “it didn’t satisfy you for more than 2 days in a row did it?” I think it definitely did for Elon, especially considering the goal only unlocks thought of not being content or satisfied and during the road towards it it doesn’t seem obvious yet. Though he has already achieved many goals and would of certainly quit if he deems it useless to himself or whom/what ever he cares about

      You say that people/elon would have quit if they deem their goal as useless.
      But the truth is that the vast majority of people don't know WHY they want, WHAT they want, and only IF they knew their ulterior motives, they would stop their chase.
      This indeed, does not have to be true for Elon, nor for a small percentage of people. Thanks for your comment.

      @@jordankruk I personally think Elon does not want things for his own benefit, more to support humanity in the future. For example, there have been 7 major mass extinctions, 99% of species that once lived are now extinct, so it’s risky being on this planet. He wants to change that and wants to save the entirety of future humanity. It is an existential goal, a hero move in my opinion, no matter if he is unhappy or unsatisfied, he has bigger problems to care about: saving human kind. If his emotions would get in the way of that, that would be disappointing due to its potential.

    i think you philosophy has a error. to think you how no control over your is suicide. because if you think you don't have control over your life you won't have control over your life. even if you don't fully have control over your. just the idea that you have will make you do things that pushes you in the direction of life you want. resulting in having control to some degree over your life. i think taking responsibility for everything is the best way to have the most control of our life. instead of thinking you have no control at all so why try. this philosophy isn't for everyone since not everyone is competent enough to live a life with full responsibility. but this mindset is best for getting shit done. also the belief of eternal satisfaction or eternal happyness is bs because being unhappy has its functions. if everyone would be happy forever, civilization would die out because somebody would get shit done. but ofcourse this wouln't happen because on the way to our downfall shit would and should make us unhappy or sad or angry so we can get shit done again. i think what you mean with eternal satisfaction is the peace you get with understanding the world, yourself and knowing why the way things are. this peace is nice and give me a good internal peace but it isn't enough. because in order to have peace in a situation you are unsatisfied with you need to understand that it is temporary. this allows us to also enjoy every moment of our journey because we it will end.

      for me progress gives me eternal satisfaction or happyness. because in every bad situation i know it is temporary and because i know why i suffer. suffering for something i care about makes the suffering more bearable. this also allows me to be more happy the more i become my ideal self.i see purpose as a journey and where i see journey i see life because life is not lived after the journey and hardships but in them.

    I get the feeling that you want Elon Musk to stop doing something.... what is it exactly?

    • @jordankruk
      @jordankruk 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No. He shouldn't stop doing anything.

    Except Elon is not looking for happiness or status or money or anything you have mentioned and assumed from this video, that is your own reflection and is ok, what is not ok is to assume that of others.

      I indeed made assumptions that may not be true for Elon, but are true for the vast majority of people.
      Regardless how successful Musk is, I'm confident he still has many illusions in his life and does/wants things for ulterior motives. That's not bad, just not acceptable in my life, which is why I wrote this story...to illustrate the message for those who share the desire to know themselves.
