Really like the sound of this, really looking forward to the string comparison video to see how much of the sound comes from these Monel strings. Hell, I look forward to all your videos, you guys do a great job.
I own one, I like it. I especially I like the way this guitar sounds, especially for its size. What I don't like is that regardless of truss rod adjustment and saddle shaving, you still can't get great low action on these smaller scale guitars. I have a Guild m120 that is 24.75" scale length and I can adjust action to a very comfortable level, but on the 000-Jr as well as GS Mini's I've owned in the past, anything 24" and below it seems you're going to be dealing with fairly high action on the higher frets. It's a comfortable strummer.
Holy shit, I thought I was the only one who played guitar in the bathroom. I don't hide the fact, and its 50/50 on people finding it weird or not. I love how casually Quentin just divulged that to us ahahah
@@ttvklu - It's a great guitar, but was always intended to be a stepping stone in my path: Going from total inability to play due to a stroke, back to playing my beloved big girls, my D-28 and Gibby J-45. Hard to put those aside to play the 000 these days. Still a fine little guitar, and underpriced for its value.
@@bobdavis761 I hate to bother again but I got to thinking, have you ever played a GS mini? Either the spruce or mohogany version. I am looking for my first guitar of my own and have around 550 bucks and was thinking between this guitar and the gs mini where I like to travel alot and take my guitar with me. these are both great options and both are great guitars but I can't get my hands on them both to play. if you have, which do you prefer? thanks.
@@karendurant4981 Thanks. Have now found out that they're C.F. Martin MM-12 retro strings for acoustic guitar. 'Monel' is on the packet but not listed as part of the name.
I really wish I could hear what you were saying about Strings? Sounded like a mumble to me and would have liked to know What you're recommending on strings for the baby Martin??
The strings being used I think are the Martin monel retro strings I believe nickel plated strings last a long time and I find they are very warm sounding. If u put a thick gauge set of nickel strings vs maybe a custom light gauge set of 80/20 strings on any guitar it could sound very different.
Hi Paul and Quinten, I always enjoy your videos. I’ve been watching them for years and you guys always do a great job. Thank you for your educational efforts here in a TH-cam. I own the Dreadnaught Junior JR-10 in sunburst and I love it. I am in the market for an additional guitar and I’m considering the Martin 000x2e. However, after watching your video on the 000 Junior I’m wondering which would sound better. I like the 24.9 inch scale of the 000x2e better than the 24” scale of than my DR-10 but ai like the fact that the juniors all all wood construction versus the HPL back and side of the X series. Could you guys please do a video comparing the 000x2e versus the 000-JR ?
i have that one as well--one of my favorite guitars--best money i ever spent and it came with the martin hard case. now they're using what? african driftwood? but the one in this video sounds fantastic even if the back and sides look ugly as sin. hard to believe strings would make that wood sing like it does. couldn't hear what the strings were though. /guy
Nice price point too bad maybe a little less talk and longer demo rather than short. Over mid-rangy tone could use a bit tuning to capture more of the trebs.
The bodies are the same shape but not the same size. The standard sizes are much longer, and wider with more depth. Everything is scaled down even the headstock. I love em
So those 12s are kind of big for me so I bought some elixir 10s but I haven't put them on yet, and my hands are getting really strong. But I don't think it's the strings, it's a and this guitar just ring like a Martin
@@mr.achmed.x Seriously! I just played a gig, opening for a local band and people complimented me on the sound of my guitar. I have multiple sets of replacement strings, but see and hear no reason to replace them. When I used phosphor bronze strings, I used to replace them at 2-3 month intervals.
The newer Dred Jr 10E is a 000 with a Dred Jr body shape . The older/original Dred JrE is a scaled down model of a full size Dred. and sounds like a Dred. I'm sure there's a difference in sound from the original and the new. The 000C JR 10 is a scaled down of a 000 size guitar. I believe the original Dred Jr. model we all love has been discontinued. :-( So if you want one of the original Martin Dred Jr's you'll have to scout craig's list , reverb, amazon , etc for a pre-owned one.
I bought this guitar a few months ago and couldn’t be happier with my purchase. Great quality instrument👍🏽 rings nice and bright

My luthier just made me two new bone nuts. Perfect. Such an improvement! E6 12th fret: 2,2mm, and E1 12th fret: 1,7mm. Isn't it low action?
How does it compare to the Taylor gs mini?
I´ve got one !Sounds awsome!

Learned both Europe and Flor de Luna by ear in bathroom. That's a place to memorise easily 😁
Would you choose this over a taylor gs mini mahogany
Ordered my 000JR-10 last night. Merry X-mas to me!
what are your thoughts on it now?

Which would you recommend between this one and the Djr-10 if you could only have one?
Great analogy, comparing an over-bright guitar to an ice cream headache!😮. I'm still not decided on a guitar but I'm trying those strings, no doubt!😮😮
How flippin ironic, just saw my post from 2 years ago and I just bought this guitar.......mind blown!
how are you liking it?
These dudes are actually funny 😂 I like this guitar too! I'm getting the electric cutaway soon
What does the 10 indicate?
Gents, put the Monels on my 000-18 and it's just transformative. Thank you so much!!

Is it a Dreadnought or an auditorium? It's advertised as an auditorium.
Monel strings? Not heard of them. What gauge?
They come with 12s

Good review. Why is ooo jr bigger than dreadnaught jr?

So, whats the difference between this and a 000 or OM? The body sizes are already the same. Is it just scale, or price point?

Hi, What’s the difference between 000 junior and 00 18 size ?
The 000 jr is considered a travel guitar with a shorter scale 24" scale and smaller body.

I put the Martin Retro Monel wrapped strings on the D-28, that I play every day, in November of 2016 and they still sound great in August of 2019!

Why don't you mention the strings? Another 200 times would b e appreciated!

The Taylor mini is much brighter imo
7mn of rambling, 30sec of playing. They’re trying to be like Anderton‘s with the conversation but they don’t balance it out well.
I can't even watch an acoustic comparison by Andertons lol

UGH!

It sounds ok, lower end martins never caught my eye. They just look ugly. I'd rather buy a sigma for a bit cheaper and I get a better guitar
