    My wife and I stayed in the very same room for 3 days in July 2016! Can't wait to get back again. It's so beautiful, tranquil and harbors a wanderlust for the very grounds themselves. Every corner around the shops, every crook in every wooded path invites further exploration with rewards of new little details and vignettes to come upon. Three days was not enough.

      I am a french fan too and, as so, I've been in Portmeirion a few times. once in winter time (new year day, it was my very first time there) and the other times during the prisoner convention in April. By the way, I am just back from the 2019 event. it is just amazing ! Je vous recommande vraiment ce pélerinage ! si vous le souhaitez, nous pouvons rester en contact...

    Just visited today, still an amazing place with lots to do. Nice walks in the woods as well. There used to be a real boat but it got washed away and mostly destroyed, although some parts salvaged. The Prisoner is arguably more relevant today than when originally released. I hope one day to see someone fund a new series especially if they include the stories not filmed originally. PM stayed in the white horses whilst filming.

    Very nicely done. One small criticism though - 75% of the scenery is blocked the entire video through by your being centered in every frame.

    Nice footage and relevant comment. "The prisoner" is an absolute cult seres and we can just notice that most of the things we experience nowadays were announced back in 1968. Indeed this series was all about social engineering. I am a frenchy, absolute fan of this series and I have even attented several times the number 6 convention that takes place every year in April. Portmeirion is really a magical, and even mystical place.

    I visited this last week and went in to The Prisoner shop. Only to discover that both the shop workers had no idea about the show beyond it existed and they asked me to explain the show to some of the other (older than me) guests who asked "did he say "be seeing you" often? & did he ever escape?"

      @mercurialno6  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is actually pretty poor! Oh well, I suppose it had a pre-Prisoner existence and a post-Prisoner existence and the show really plays little part in the resort's ongoing life. Except the visits and the money. Worldwide.

    I've seen 6 episodes from your list. The original intent list. In that order without knowledge of the rest, No 6 seems quite silly. It takes him 3 episodes (between Arrival and the one with Boat statue) to figure out that playing with "open cards" my not be the best idea. I have to say that this aspect of "watching idiot trying to brute force his way out" was very distracting to me. It probably wasn't good idea to go with that order for the first time. This way, the weather baloon "character" is the most interesting of it all and that's not much.

    • @mercurialno6
      @mercurialno6  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      ExplosiveNotes Thanks for giving it a go! :-)

    • @ExplosiveNotes
      @ExplosiveNotes 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'll probably return to it after some time and go with the order episodes are numbered. Be seeing you.

    • @ExplosiveNotes
      @ExplosiveNotes 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think it may make more sense in a sense of being... perhaps consistent with itself. In other words: Arrival is (apart from other things) attempt to brute force it out imediately. I don't know if it would be my choice, but I can relate to that. And it's also expirience of control possibilities the village has. In the following Chimes of the Boat, you can see No 6 trying to bluff by pretending to cooperate kind of... and that makes lot more sense to me as behavior than going from Arrival to Free for all. See what I mean? I'm not talking about sense in a sense of answer what it all means (btw. you get that in Chimes of the Bigben "It means what it is"). I'm talking about sense of No 6 not acting on the "first impusle", not being one dimensional "I want out", which really doesn't fit the character of someone being previously involved with super secret stuff.

    • @ExplosiveNotes
      @ExplosiveNotes 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've watched Fall Out, AB&C and Schiziod man. I think now I'm saturated for letting it rest. Episodes seem to fit together better in order they were aired, in a sense No6 doesn't seem like idiot. It's interesting series, but also I'm kind of "late to the party". If we'd go with the symbolism, I was born in the village. Sure I don't remember much of the village as I was little when we stopped being numbers, but there are still plenty of ex-villagers around. I also went through the realisation, that the village is still everywhere, atleast couple years ago. ... eeh what am I trying to say... I'd be mostlikely lot more impressed / amazed / influenced by it, if I'd seen it earlier in my life. I don't know :D I like it and I don't at same time... and I greatly respect what it is when its age is considered.
      Anyway, you know this, right? th-cam.com/video/T5YTXnnQjC4/w-d-xo.html

    • @mercurialno6
      @mercurialno6  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      ExplosiveNotes There is quite a history when it comes to people trying to order the episodes. No-one can quite agree. To be honest they're pretty interchangable although the most glaring error for me is the Chimes of Big Ben being aired second. That's slightly jarring.
      I haven't watched that film for years. Can't remember it. Will watch it.
      Your personal take on the Prisoner involving your own situation is interesting. Cheers for sharing.

    Concrete boat =Never called such, it's The stone boat FFS!
    Clock tower = Campanile.
    Plaza = Piazza
    FYI, Most memorable opening shot is from No6's window when he pulls up the blind.
    Other than that a nice video from an obvious fellow fan.

    • @mercurialno6
      @mercurialno6  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think I got the view spot on at 06:57 , the view at the beginning of Arrival (and every other episode pretty much?). The whole filming of the Prisoner (between the location and the studio) was a bit of a con so I had to rely on memory at the location... hence not being quite sure of the angle of the shot. Turns out it was indeed filmed from the actual location of 6's house. However, when he pulled up the blind they 'could' have used any shot they liked. Turned out, for once, they were being geographically accurate!
      And I call it the concrete boat... so it is untrue that it has never been called such. :-) Thanks for watching. It is indeed a great place. If you want to have fun picking more holes in my nonsense you should watch my massive 3 video podcast on the Prisoner. Thanks again!
